Bangels - a treat for you and two Bangel questions

This is it, the post I make to hit 5000 posts!!! It seems inconcievable, you guys have put up with a lot of chatter from me 😉 Anywhoo, to honor this special occasion I decided this post would celebrate my favorite ship of ships - Bangel...

And on to my purpose of this thread, I want to know - Bangel fans (or anyone else who is willing to share without bashing) - what your favorite Bangel moment is. A specific moment on the show that always gets a reaction out of you, no matter the amount of rewatches. And remember you can only pick one moment, so think carefully before you make your choice!


For me it's Earshot when Angel comes to treat the sick Buffy with (gross) the heart of a demon. I just... aahh, there's such sweetness in that scene that my heart melts. Also Buffy's pj's are great.


I would also like to know, who do you think - out of the show characters - was the biggest Bangel fan??

So please share with me your thoughts and feelings and lets give the world a little bit extra Bangel love today. 😀

I love thissssssssssssssss!!! I am a huge bangel fan 😀!!! And oh my lord I agree with Earshot and when he kisses her head! I love Amends with the snow but if I had to choose one moment and this different from other Bangel moments people love is What's My Line Part 1 when they are in the ice rink and Angel has his vampire face on and Buffy says she hasn't notice and they start kissing. The reason I love this scene is because it was the first time we actually see that Buffy doesn't care about him being a vampire cause in the beginning of season 2 she kept bullying him about being a vampire but now all she see is a man 🙂.

I think Willow was the biggest Bangel fan as she always loved talking to Buffy about it and she was happy to help Angel out in Lie To Me, plus when everyone kept talking bad about Angel in season 3 she didn't she kept saying it was hard for Buffy and that Angel saved her. Plus in Earshot Buffy kept going on about Angel in love with Faith but Willow backed him up and told Buffy Angel has no feelings for Faith. Willow even came to L.A twice she was not only Buffys friend but Angels and she loved them together. I also believe Oz was a Bangel fan too cause he got along with Angel really well.

I love Bangel so much and is my all time favourite TV couple 🙂

I'm not a bangel fan (shocking huh ?) but my favorite moment is definitely the end of Becoming part 2. It's such a heart-breaking moment, with Buffy making the toughest choice ever, and Angel unaware of what's happening, the "close your eyes"... An amazing scene !

About the biggest fan, I would also say Willow, although it was more her being Buffy's best friend that made her want to be happy with Angel.

My favorite Bangel scene ever? Has to be the claddagh ring scene on the docks. Before Spike and Dru's minions arrive, of course!!!

The biggest Bangel fan was probably Willow, as she was the fastest to really accept angel as Buffy's boyfriend. Oz was also a great Bangel fan 🙂

Who do you think - out of the show characters - was the biggest Bangel fan ?

I would say - Buffy herself was/is the biggest Bangel fan always - even when Angel had doubts she insisted on keeping the hope for them together alive. Willow was always a sympathizer, same as Oz. Strangely enough, I feel that Jenny was not entirely against them being together, even though she was the most informed character and anticipated the upcoming disaster of Innocence.

My favorite scene is from season 1 of Buffy, the Angel episode. I love the scenes in the Bronze, first when Angel kills Darla (which we realise later was a huge thing when you think of their history) and then when Buffy and Angel are saying they cant be together. Its so heartbreaking.

I also think that Willow is the biggest Bangel fan.

Favorite moment is so hard! I think maybe in Forever after they buried Joyce, and Angel's there by her side. I have a love/hate relationship with I Will Remember You. I also love Angel showing up at The Prom, love the hillside in Amends, ice skating, "It's Willow: Buffy's alive!", The Bite in Graduation Day...I could go on and on!

And I agree with [MENTION=9316]ladydorotea[/MENTION] that Buffy herself is the biggest Bangel fan. 🙂

Love it! That's such a well-done piece, really cool to see.

My favorite Bangel moment? It's a sad one. From "I will remember you" (which might be the ultimate Bangel episode), right at the end, when Buffy is crying in Angel's arms after she finds out the day is going to be erased. Asking him how she's going to go on with her life, and about how no matter what, she'll never forget. That's one of the most powerful scenes I've ever seen. I'm not usually a crier in T.V. or movies but I swear, that gets me every time. Every single time. It's this moment where even though they can't be together then, you know that they're made for one another, that neither will ever have a truer love.

One I thought about, it's not really a moment, is in S7 "Selfless", when Buffy talks to Xander about how she loved Angel more than anything in her life, or ever would love anything. Then, a few episodes later in S4 of Angel, during "Awakening", it takes everything in his life coming together for Angel to experience true happiness, but he's still thinking of Buffy when it happens.

I think Willow was the biggest Bangel fan on the show (aside from Buffy and Angel themselves of course). She was always supportive of Bangel even when things went really south. Odd as it sounds, I think Giles understood how much they loved each other more than anyone else.

Pinpointing one B/A moment and raising it above any other is impossible to me, but for the sake of this thread, I'll pick one. (However, I reserve the right to change my mind when I please 😉)

I think I'm going to say the morning before scene from "Surprise". It's everything that I love about B/A. In a lot of ways, it represents all the reasons I ship this ship. It's just this really simple thing of a girl seeking comfort from her boyfriend because of a nightmare. It's so normal it is almost laughable, considering who Buffy and Angel are and what their lives entail. But that's why I enjoy this scene so much. They are just two people in love. I think every couple exists its own world, and this scene is a snapshot into Buffy and Angels. It's a picture of what they give each other. More notably, it's a Buffy and Angel that you only see when they are together. It's so intimate; the way they have to touch each other constantly, the urgency of their kisses, like they can't stand even the separation of their lips, him grasping handfuls of her hair, the subtle provocation of her hands under his t-shirt, the blatant, sensual act of propriety of that action. It's because this scene could happen at any time in their lives. No apocalypse or tragedy has been the catalyst of this display of affection. She just needed to see him, and he just really wanted her to stay with him. Simple, serene and perfect.

I suppose Willow was the closest that Buffy and Angel ever had for someone rooting for them, but honestly I think Buffy is the biggest champion of B/A. Even then, it is tempered with an abiding sense of resignation because she knows no matter how much she wants it, she can't save the world and have Angel too.

As for the biggest Bangel fan among the characters, aside from Buffy and Angel themselves, I'm gonna be a little insane and go with Giles. Not because he ever cheered them on or attempted to help them be together, but because he understood them. He was the first one to acknowledge "a vampire in love with the Slayer", he accepted Angel's role in Buffy's life until the big change, and he never denied the validity of Buffy's feelings even after his own love was killed by Angelus. He was intelligent enough to know it could never be, but wise enough to know that it always would be anyway. His sympathy for Buffy when she has to lose Angel is beautiful.

I also have a suspicion that Dawn was/is a major Buffy/Angel shipper, once she grew up and looked back at her memories and could interpret them with a mature eye.

What interesting points on who (on the show) was the biggest Bangel. I kind of automatically thought of Willow but seeing it mentioned Buffy does seem like the obvious choice 🙂 But I also enjoy your points about Giles [MENTION=10219]Kairos[/MENTION] as well as Dawn! Two characters I hadn't even given a thought to in the matter.

Picking a favorite B/A moment is really hard! There are so many great ones. If I had to pick a favorite I'd say "What's My Line" when they are in the ice rink and she touches his vamp face and then kisses him.

Other than Buffy, I think Willow was the biggest supporter of B/A. Willow seemed to be the one Buffy confided in the most about Angel and Willow understood the depth of Buffy's feelings. I also think that Giles, Oz and Jenny all supported Buffy and Angel in their own way.
