Bangels hate Spuffy

We can all agree that Bangels and Spuffys have been hashing out for years now.

But does anyone else feel like Bangels look down on the actual person for being a Spuffy fan?

I've been getting that impression a lot lately. Not by all, but by some.

I dont hate the actual person for preffering Spuffy. But i do find it rather amusing. Considering it wasnt an actual 'ship. Shipping Spuffy is sorta like shipping Giles/Anya, fun, but not really real.

I don't think I've come across any Bangel shippers who look down on people for shipping Spuffy or vice versa. I've not really actively taken part in any shipping wars or anything so I suppose I've not really had that kind of experience to go by, but none of my Bangel friends seem to look down on me or anything like that for shipping Spuffy!

I should hope people don't come along and hate each other for shipping a ship. That's like hating someone because they like tomatoes and you don't.

I don't think that's true for Bangels, I think it's true for hardcore shippers. I won't lie, I judge people if they ship a ship I hate. There are not that many ships I hate enough to feel this way about... Bangel isn't one of them... But as a hardcore shipper, I'd be lying if I said I've never judged someone for their shipping. It's a problem that all fandoms have to face... it comes with shipping. I'm sure there are some Bangels who are guilty of doing this with Spuffy and I'm sure there are some Spuffies who are guilty of doing this with Bangel.

I have already stated a few times that I love both. Now maybe I've never seen real Bangel/Spuffy disagreements, but I don't think this can get near as freaky as the Stelena/Delena wars I've seen on the internet... Because man, the TVD fandom is downright scary when it comes to ships.....

Of course some will always take it a step too far, but it's not something that happens frequently from what I've seen of the BtVS fandom....

Early Bangel didn't bother me that much, I actually thought it was cute sometimes. It just got boring and surreal. That's why I like Spuffy because it is way more realistic in terms of a relationship.

That being said, I have never looked down on anyone for it, but I have been looked down upon. "Bangels are purists" was the attempt at a justification.

While I really have no right to post in the Spuffy fan club, I would just like to say this:

I'm a Bangel, and I don't look down on anyone who prefers Spuffy.

Everyone has their own opinions, and I will respect them 🙂

It's a pretty well known fact that there are far more Spuffy shippers willing to admit that Buffy truly loved, and was in love with, Angel that there are Bangels who can say the same thing about Buffy and Spike. I don't know whether that constitutes "looking down their noses" at Spuffy shippers or not, but, to me at least, it seems kind of close minded.

No...that's pretty ridiculous. Anyone who looks down on a human being for their preference in a fictional relationship...is a moron. I usually refrain from calling people names haha and I apologize if I've offended anyone but come on. I refuse to believe that anyone here actually looks down on someone based on who they ship.

For the record...I don't even look down on those who ship Duffy (I'm convinced that no one does but who knows) and Buffy/Giles. I don't understand it and it grosses me out, but I can only look down on someone if they do something wrong, without feeling any remorse. Shipping uch couples, isn't wrong.

I think its true of any from any ship not just Bangel its not fair to single them out. I've been judged by Spuffy shippers for shipping Cangel too. But from my personal experience I have run across more intense Bangel shippers that judge me for my ships. I was called delusional and pathetic several times for liking my ships.

In any fandom though you will find the insanely intense shippers that will judge you lol.

Ive seen it the worst in the smallville fandom from my own shipping group lol Cloisers are the worst! They judge you for liking Chloe/Davis basically saying if you like them you personally support abusive relationships and that you're sick.

There have certainly have been a few times on the boards when I did feel like I was personally being judged by shipping Spuffy, (not that I actually take it to heart since people don't actually know me personally.) 🙂

Additionally, any time people use words like "disgusting," "degrading," or "disturbing" to describe a relationship or a character, it's hard not to infer that they don't think highly of those of us who love said pairing. If someone looks down so much on something that they think it is downright disgusting, it's easy to imagine that they'd feel the same way about those who stand behind it.

That's why it makes such a big difference when people use phrases like "In my opinion," "For me," "It's not my thing," or "I just didn't see it," instead. In those cases, I feel that they are truly only referring to the issue at hand and not passing judgment on the person who stands behind it. I think most of the time here on the boards, this is the case.

Largely, ship wars are just fun debates that never get resolved. I don't feel personally attacked or judged on BB, except by a few members. But I think shipping Spuffy will get you more judgement than other ships because of how twisted it was in S6 (and AR).

I really like to debate on Spuffy/Bangel stuff. But just like I want to hear other people's opinions and points of view, I want them to hear mine too. But sometimes it feels as if some think my opinion aren't even worth to hear, then it's like talking to a wall. Because it's not a debate when you say something and the other side won't even listen, won't even try to keep an open mind. As if just because I have a different opinion, it's worth nothing. So that's the thing that makes me feel like I'm looked down at sometimes because I like Spuffy. Because I feel that sometimes Bangels (not all of them of course) don't want to even hear what I've got to say.

Yes, I have felt this way. Once a member on here called me "deranged" because I shipped S/B. Honestly? It hurt my feelings. It's not fair, or accurate for that matter, to make assumptions about someone's personality or morals based on their preferred ship in a fictional TV show.

It happened to me too. Not too often, fortunately, but it happened. I've read things which weren't really graceful about the Spuffy fans, like "rapist sympathizers" and stuff like that... (I sometimes wonder if these persons are really aware of what they are saying). A while ago, I remember reading somewhere, by the time of the spacefrake/Twilight arc in the comics, months before season 8 ended, someone saying that he/she didn't "even hated the Spuffies anymore" but "felt pity" for them. For the way it was said, I found that hurtful and not elegant.

But I don't think that that kind of attitudes are representative of a majority, people like that are just more "noisy". I'm friend with some Bangel fans in the french side of the fandom, and they're very respectful, I absolutely adore them.

And I'm sure that there are Spuffy fans who can act that way too. Like it has been said before, I don't see the point of judging people about their preferences.
