Bangels only:say something you like about Spuffy

I liked Spike and Buffy while Buffy kept Spike at a distance because that was most believable and true to Buffy. So I liked a lot of their interactions in season 5- Buffy kissing Spike to show appreciation for how he didn't give Dawn/Buffy up even though he was being tortured, and when Spike says to Buffy "I know you'll never love me. I know I'm a monster but you treat me like a man". I know Spuffy fans do count these scenes as Spuffy scenes.

It's mainly when Spike actually gets in Buffy's pants that the monster comes out and never went back in entirely for me when it comes to Spuffy.

I rewatched recently and thought I would like Spuffy s6 more, but it still gave me major ick factor every time he tries to seduce her. I agree their best moments are s5, which lays a good foundation
Can I answer since I don’t like either ship?

I liked when Buffy told Spike she loved him in Chosen not because I see them as an epic love story but because it’s the first time she’s said it since Angel. It feels like she’s finally moving forward.

Their chemistry is off the charts!! That might be more of a testament to SMG and James than it is to Buffy and Spike, but still they had great sexual and antagonistic chemistry.

I also enjoyed the first part of s6, where Spike is the only person who knows Buffy was pulled out of heaven. I thought the writers were really going somewhere with the 2 of them with this storyline, but then they had to turn it nasty.

I like how the writers explored a different type of relationship with them in S6. It's not good, but it's the type of relationships people can get stuck in in real life. (Of course, they kind-of back-tracked on that idea in S7, but whatever)

As a huge Spuffy shipper, I don't think I belong in this thread, but I will say that I loved them more in season 5 and then in season 7. Season 6 did give Spuffy fans what they craved for but in a horrible and toxic way. I did not like that at all, so I do agree with you about how S6 just brought in more and more of the "monster" out of Spike. What truly sold me to Spuffy was Spike getting his soul back.

For me season 7 was the worst version of Spike but I respect your opinion
