Why would one do this? I tried & it seemed like I lost points...It wasn't detailed in the FAQ either to my knowledge.
 
I DONT GET IT it seems like everyting in the store is way too expensive- even some of the richest people on the board cant afford to buy anything
 
you could have warned me i've been punished now for trying to steal money, thanks a lot, i dint know that it was wrong i just thought it was a bit of fun, i've lost 50 karma points, i only had 12 and im really p***** off at you and who ever is resbonsible for not warning me, i dont mind being punished but not by taking karma points, its so hard to get them back- if this aint fixed, i know no1 really cares but i think im going to leave the buffy boards, does anyone know any other boards i can go to
 
I'm not sure I understand the deposit thing either...although it seems like the interest does help alittle....but I'm not sure if it really is...or I'm just imagining that...I deposited...and it did seem like I lost money...but it's just in the bank...aaaagggghhhhhh...I'm so confused....

Faith/willowfan: None of us really knew...so we really couldn't warn you...no body is responsible for it....sorry your pissed off, but it's really no ones fault....don't blame other people when most of us didn't even know...
 
As I said in my previous post about the store, you know as much as I do about how it works. It did not come with an instruction manual.

The fact that you are annoyed because you tried to steal from someone else and got punished yourself is a little iffy...

I believe that there is a random effect when you steal - you either get a bonus or you get points taken from you.

The point of this is to save points for what you want. The store has only been open for two days and what fun would it be to have everyone be able to afford everything right off the bat?

I know that the bank does pay interest but I'm not sure what it does when you withdraw funds. I'll see if I can find out though.

The Pet Store money is used to buy food and stuff for your pets, while the store points are to buy stuff for you at the store. I will try to get it all combined with karma into one point system but I wanted to get everything working properly seperately before I try to do that because it requires programming.

You're surprised that you got punished for trying to steal someone else's points? It doesn't surprise me at all that there might be a penalty for thieving someone else's hard-earned points.

Actually, Magui had talked about how she lost all her Karma points for stealing earlier yesterday or the day before.

Also, like Faith and Buffy Summers have stated over and over, they are adding these things on a daily basis and are trying to learn about the new features themselves, so it was nobody's fault.

It's supposed to be for fun guys! Don't take it too seriously and just enjoy it!

I think it's a random thing whether you get caught or not, just like if you were stealing real money. It's all in fun, not like the money can buy you anything other than funky usernames or pets & stuff. People do care, but this whole thing is a fun addition to our time at BB.
 
I have actually been adding most of my money into the bank.

I mean why not, if your not going to use it for a while, why not receive interest? Its like financial sense in the real world, if your not doing anything with the money right now then you would make money by depositing it in a bank account.

The question is, how much interest are we getting? HAHA, I sound like an investor already!

P.S.
I too tried to theive points, thinking it would be more like a game, but I'm not gonna get mad because my karma and points were taken. Please don't yell about something when its just a game, as Jenny perfectly put it.

You can't expect there not to be consequences for stealing sometimes. If that was the case, we'd all be stealing points and no one would be safe. Wouldn't a member be mad if someone could always steal their hard earned points???

originalslayer, I think it's 2% interest. 🙂 I'm going to try and site down today sometime and look through it all and try to put something together on it.
 
I tried stealing (and I feel kinda bad about it,cuz I can get the points by myself😛) and failed,lost 75 karma points and 580 store points. So what?,I'll get the points back,...what's kinda worrying is the karma thing cuz I had more than 30 points I guess...
Well,doesn't matter,you don't have to leave or blame anyone,it's just a game,no big deal.
 
FYI on the bank - I was reading about it and there *may* be some problems with the bank. It was sort of unclear as to whether it was the same problem we were having with it charging you to withdraw, but at any rate as any fixes become available I will install them.

HAHA I hope it doesn't charge us to withdrawal, because everytime I get a substantial amount of money I deposit it?

Also about the interest, I think its accrued every day.🙂
 
Yeah it is accrued every day.

I don't have the bank set to charge anything for withdrawals, but some people were thinking that it had charged them. So I'm thinking if it does it's a bug. All I can really do about that is keep an eye on it as I think its beyond my coding abilities to fix on my own (especially as we haven't identified that it is indeed doing that lol).

So where exactly does it do this? You click on the Bank in the Store drop down, then it takes you to the main bank page, and you click on deposit, then you type in the amount you want to deposit, and it asks you to confirm - and then it takes you to that page or before?

Cause it worked fine for me.
