There's a couple of ladies where I live that are always barefoot, and it's quite common for children (school age) to be as well. Have you noticed an increase where you live in people no longer wearing shoes?

There's also barefoot shoes, which are thinner and wider than regular shoes, have you tried these. I was given a pair a couple of years ago and they are so comfy, so I bought myself another pair.

When I was a kid back in the 80s I went barefoot everywhere I could. 3 mile walk to the pool? No problem. Playing hide and seek in the "woods"? No issues. By the end of summer I'd have about a cm thick layer of callous on my feet.

These days I can't do it as much. Too old, feet don't heal up as well, and in summer the asphalt temp can reach 140.

I can't say I have and I certainly wouldn't walk around outside without shoes!

I like the barefoot shoes. I dont have any at the moment but did a few years ago.

I dont walk barefoot outside where I live now because there is too much broken glass and too many snakes. I never wear shoes in the house.

I also have to wear shoes to the beach now too because I burnt the bottom of my feet extremely badly a few years ago. It wasnt even a hot day, barely over 30C and the bottoms of my feet slid off in deep blistery layers. It was very very bad, very bad. I should have gone to hospital but I was too scared. I still have issues now, they swell up and blister in the heat. I was surprised by the severity because I used to walk barefoot to the beach all the time, maybe it was because it was new bitumen. I duno why it was so bad that particular time. So now I always wear thongs, even to the pool.

I take you do mean the thongs are for your feet?
Growing up i went barefoot as much as possible. At home i still do. Rarely do i go off my property barefoot as the roads have hazards. My foot calluses are mostly gone though when back home in the caribbean, i live in open sandals and get them back partially.

I mostly don't like shoes. Havent worn confining shoes most of my adult life. For this reason i now cant wear most womens shoes as they are intended for people who have female foot deformity (most women do). No, women's feet are not naturally narrow and pointy.

I have nicely shaped large feet and after i stopped forcing my feet into size 10 shoes (women's shoes in the US mostly stop at size ten female) (unless you want drag queen shoes, which is so not my style) I embraced my 11wide - size 12 feet... I now mostly wear men's size 10 wide (trainers and Merrell suede) and my feet no longer hurt. Thankfully there are some stylish, colourful men's shoes that don't embrace the uber masculine look.

I believe in bare feet. I believe women's damaged feet put them at risk for falls as they age.

I refuse to damage myself to conform.

I do wear sandals on sand at the beach. Sand holds heat. Burn tissue is not fun. Sorry to hear about your burns.

@DeepBlueJoy a couple of years ago I had feet measured, and yep I have wide feet too,but had always worn bigger shoes. It explained why the tip of my shoes were always scuffed as my toes weren't there. I could go down upto 2 sizes with the right width!

Same. I hardly ever wore shoes as a kid running around on the farm I grew up on. But these days I need shoes unless I'm walking in grass.

I jinxed it, my flip flops broke while I was in town yesterday so I had to walk barefoot. Wasn't too bad most paths are quite smooth but a couple were awful and I walked on the road instead.

Nah I wear the thongs on my hips. Cos they really protect my feet there.

Grounding like a hippy pro!

One reason not to wander about barefoot is them dogs and cats that crap all over the place, don't you just love it when them animal droppings squeeze up between your toes, even more enjoyable when it is still warm. Now did I put the bucket I shout hoo-wee into?

I wasn't sure if I should have posted a not smiley smiley. Was it the right one to use had me thinking of the laughing smiley I used instead.

You sound like you would enjoy wearing a thong.

Did the trees consent to that?!

No! The trees did not consent to being hugged, they don't like being classified as human huggers! (HUSH, the trees do talk you know)
I'll walk barefoot at the park on the grass and at the beach on the grass when I can! It feels good on the feet for sure.

Try thanking the person who replants each blade of grass in the sand? Note: guess where the bald patches of lawn in the park go to?
Dear Joan the Vampire Slayer,
what would you say if you met the person on the beach who was replanting the blades of grass in the sand? Would it be to thank the person for causing bald spots in the lawn at the park?

And referring to @Novembers post number 12 - Why would I want to wear a thong about my hips? Me thinks you are a bit weird . . . I guess that is the reason why I like you!

Oh and a @ to Joan the Vampire Slayer, wouldn't want her to feel left out.
