Okay, I just finished watching the miniseries and can I just take this opportunity to say "GOOD GOD THIS SHOW IS AMAZING"? Here are my thoughts (spoilers for people who haven't watched it yet, obviously):

- Starbuck is officially the coolest character ever. The scene where she pushes Adama's ship into Galactica was my favorite part of the whole miniseries.
- Speaking of Starbuck and Adama (and obviously, I'm talking about Lee), I really hope they get together because I love them. Also, Lee is frakking HOT. Damnit, I'm gonna say "frak" for the rest of my life, aren't I?
- I love the whole Six/Baltar relationship and hope that one of the real Sixes shows up on Galactica at some point.
- What happened to Helo? I know he didn't die, since I've seen him in promo pictures and such for the later seasons. Hopefully that question will be answered in season 1, because I do love me some Tahmoh.
- I don't really like Laura or the older Adama. They're kind of boring, and it was so mean how Adama told everyone that Earth existed. Also, his face looks like the bottom of an old sneaker.
- Boomer's a Cylon?! Whaaat?! I have a feeling the whole "ANYONE CAN BE A CYLON ZOMG" thing is gonna drive me crazy.

Now, if you excuse me, I need to start watching season 1!

This isn't a board dedicated to BSG and the Miniseries is from like 2003 or something.

The cylon stuff, well the 7 are used up pretty well in the first stuff and as there is a finite number of Cylons, don't fret over who they are...though the final five are AWESOME reveals!

Baltar and Six have a great relationship and during the season there is a very funny scene between the two and Starbuck walks in - this isn't a spoiler because you know nothing about what happens.

I love Laura and Adama - I think you will too within the first season.

Also, Earth, well thats hope to the people who really need something to live for right now.

Well then I shouldn't spoil you with this one.

Adama the Elder turns out to be gay and his a sordid relationship with one of the Cylon males (the one from the Miniseries thats left on the weapons cache planet) that totally puts the fleet in jeopardy.

I thought that was a very bold move for a US TV show, not to just have a gay character because thats been done, but to make the lead male a gay character is awesome.

Though I did always wish Apollo would be the gay one...with Helo...in a spin of movie...rated 18+++...where they have sex alot...hardcore sex...with jelly!

Okay, I just finished watching season 1 and all I can say is, WOW.

(I'll put my thoughts behind spoiler tags for those of you who haven't watched yet.)

I'll admit, when I first started watching, I was a little worried. The first three episodes made me realize why people were calling it pretentious...they seemed kind self-important and dragged on a lot (especially "Water", which I thought was the most boring episode of the season). But after the "Act of Contrition"/"You Can't Go Home Again" two-parter, I was completely in love. It just got better and better from there (with the exception of "Flesh and Bone" and "Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down," which were two of the weaker episodes, in my opinion...then again, maybe I just didn't like the former episode because all I could think about was how annoyed I was with the use of the word "machine" in every other sentence), and the "Kobol's Last Gleaming" two-parter was frakking INSANE. The only things that went through my head for the rest of the day were, "OH MY GODS BOOMER SHOT ADAMA AND LAURA'S IN THE BRIG AND SHARON'S HAVING HELO'S BABY AND STARBUCK'S EPIC FIGHT WITH SIX WAS EPIC AND LEE AND HELO ARE HOT AND ASDA:SLD:ASFLK:ADLKSAD."

Now, about my thoughts on the characters...completely disregard everything bad I said about Laura and Adama. I really love Laura now, and, while Adama's gravelly voice makes me want to punch things, he's a great character regardless. Also, even though Baltar sort of rubbed me the wrong way for the first couple episodes, he completely grew on me after "Six Degrees of Separation" and now, I can't get enough of him. So overall, I'd say my favorites are Starbuck, Baltar, Laura, Lee, and Helo (in that order).

The only characters I don't really care for are Tigh (both the Colonel and Ellen), Boomer (although I don't hate the Sharon who's always with Helo), and Galen, but I guess I can tolerate them.

Well, what can I say about BSG, I think BSG is the greatest show (other than BtVS & Angel) I have ever seen. From the first half of the miniseries I was completely in love with it.
I think Gaius Baltar is the best character in any TV show I have ever seen, I loved how many different things they did with him (which I won't say as it may be spoilers.)
I have completely replaced the word f*ck with frak and always say oh my gods and my online name is The_Final_Cylon (as you can see). I also have a jacket (which I wear everyday) with the BSG arm patch and I will soon be getting my wings (I'm a little obsessed)
