So I just finished up this series and it was amazing. It didn't impact me the way Buffy did, but in terms of pure enjoyment I think I liked it just as much. Gaius Baltar is one of the best characters ever put to film. People often talk about West Wing being so relevant to our time, and while I haven't seen that show yet, I don't think it could be more relevant than BSG. The way it dealt with political and religious issues was brilliant. So on that note do we have any other BSG fans here? I'm planning on watching Caprica, but should I watch the original Battlestar Galactica series? I've heard very bad things, but thought I'd see if anyone here had an opinion.

Wath The West Wing and find out.
Im a fan I love the series

EJO is brillant but in fact most that cast was great

I watched the original series, with Papa Cartwright as Admiral Adama, until George Lucas got it canceled, claiming that it was a "Star Wars" copyright infringement, but I've never really gotten into the new version. The few episodes that I have watched looked pretty good, but I just never had the time to sit down and watch the series when it was being aired. (I missed a lot of good shows back then because of work conflicts) Now that I'm a retired man of leisure, though, I may give it another try.

Huge BSG fan here! I'm currently rewatching, although I just found the entire series on Blu-Ray on big sale at Amazon.uk! Even shipping to the US was reasonable! I just hope that they don't charge some huge customs fee, so we shall see. How about Caprica? I loved that as well, although I understand that it wasn't liked as much by the BSG fanbase. Have you guys watched Blood & Chrome yet? It was aired as separate webisodes, but will be aired on SyFy in February. I sure hope that SyFy or someone else picks it up as a full series. You will be able to purchase it on BluRay soon too. http://www.youtube.com/channel/SWgObGz7zha9U

I've been gabbing about BSG on Twitter with @BEG so I thought I might as well bring the discussion here, too. I love BSG. Some might say I love BSG in an altogether not normal way. I finished my second rewatch of it last week and I'm kind of at a loss at what I'm supposed to do without it. Kara Thrace is like Buffy and Faith's lovechild. I love Apollo and Sam and the Old Man. Don't even start me on Helo. Though, controversial opinion here, Roslin annoys the living hell out of me.

BTW OP, The West Wing is not only the only show better than BSG, but its relevance to today's politics will blow your mind. I couldn't recommend watching it more.

I started a re-watch and then stopped.

And I just watched Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome which I like. I also like that Luke Pasqualino was in it as Will/Bill Adama. <3

I loved BSG, it was such a brilliant series.
I've only watched it one, and have been meaning to do a rewatch. But it's one of those ones you run to put on the next episode, so will have to wait a while longer.

But the characters, the story and the methphors everthing about it was so good.

I enjoyed Caprica, it had potential, but haven't watched Blood and Chrome, I think I watched the first part of the first episode.
They released it on YouTube as a webseries right?

Correct all of Blood and Crome is avalable on Machima Prime on You tube

I was a big fan of this all the way up to the second half of the final series then they lost me somewhat. It just got a bit too weird and a lot of it didnt seem to make much sense to me.

I love it, in fact I think it's probably the best series ever made in terms of acting and story quality (next to Breaking Bad). I am a huge fan and just finished rewatching the series for the third time on blu-ray! It's just pure epicness!

Baltar is a favourite, but also Apollo and Tigh!

Haven't seen the original series, but I've heard it's bad!

Its 70s camp man but I think its the better of that era of cheese

The West Wing is NOT better than BSG!

I had a hard time getting into Caprica, but I think Blood and Chrome is 100 times better. I hope we get a real series of it. Luke is good as Adama - so different than he was as Freddie!

The difference between the two is marginal (I have a friend who calls BSG West Wing in Space lol), but I'd be lying if I didn't think WW was better.

I have to catch up on Blood and Chrome but I agree it is much better than Caprica. Caprica never felt like part of the BSG world to me. The tone just wasn't there.

Not a superfan but liking it more than enough. Got the whole series + The plan and one part of Caprica. When it comes to favourite character I'm shallow and go with Boomer. In my mind Caprica isn't as good but it had potential. And for whedonites it's worth mentioning that James Marsters were in a few episodes. Haven't watched Blood and chrome yet but planning on buying it once it's released.

When it comes to BSG vs The West Wing I'm firmly on the side of TWW. But honestly that's most likely due to the comedy moments which are rare on BSG. If it had been the opposite I'm sure I'd liked BSG more.

When ever Baltar comes on the screen I tend to laugh my ass off but that's me. I do like Boomer somewhat, I've probably never hated a tv-character as much as when she *!!!SPOILER!!!* shot Adama *!!!SPOILER!!!*
