Hard up for cash, Serenity takes on a job from Simon: help him get a thorough diagnostic of River in return for the opportunity to loot the vast medical stores of an Alliance hospital on central world Ariel. But River's pursuers are hot on their trail, and they receive some unexpected inside help.

Love how Simon is trying to get River to eat, then realises why she wont when he tastes it!
Wash trying to persuade Zoe to go out on Ariel, not doing a good job
And then Mal agrees with her and no one is going out on it
It beats just sitting! It is just sitting!

Love Mal, defending Simon, Simon truly is part of the crew now.

In my memory I was not looking forward to this episode. In my head it was dull.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had either misremembered or just changed my mind. I really enjoyed this episode. Though my favorite part might be how well Mal knows Jayne and how he deals with him at the end (as well as Jayne not wanting the others to know what he had done) I thought the whole episode was funny and entertaining and worrying toward the end.

Having not read any comics and it being a while since I last watched the show... did we ever find out the significance of the blue hands?


Question: if River had slashed at someone other than Jayne...do you guys think that the crew would have reacted more negatively? Now, while concerned, they were kind of passive...
 
I think Mal may have acted the same way if it was anyone other than Kaylee or Inara, Wash may have reacted differently if it was Zoe but I think Zoe would have been fine it if was Wash.
 
I'm not saying Zoe wouldn't have cared about Wash getting hurt, but she would see the bigger picture and understand that it couldn't have been helped and River wasn't well
 
I too didn't think this was a great episode, but after watching it remembered how much I liked it lol

I haven't read the comics either, but my guess is it lets them handle that wand thing without dying.

I guess I am just dense because I never much thought cared it.. I just figured they were surgical gloves.

Just seems like they make a "big deal" out of it. Like why would they walk around with surgical gloves if not for a good reason? I mean I guess it could be to look "cool"... if the show had gone on, maybe all the cool kids would've been wearing blue gloves, who knows? 😉

So you don't get contaminated by actually having to touch and feel the real world around you. Why do people walk around with surgical masks on? for fear of breathing something in... same difference. I just figured they got their hands dirty, but didnt want to get their hands dirty.

I still think there's something more to it...
 
For some reason I thought River cut Jayne to save him, like maybe he had a blood clot and she was relieving pressure. Like how she knew that heart patient was dying. I was surprised that she had just attacked him.

I love how Jayne, Mal and Die were practicing their doctor so each and they didn't even need it.

I'm watching this with my mum (who hasn't seen previous episodes) and she's just asked if Jayne is a baddie. I explained he's just in it for the money 🙂
