BB Firefly Rewatch Day Two: Bushwacked

Got to admit to not remembering much about this ep

Ah love them just messing around having fun, I bet they had a great time filming it.
River looks like she's trying to figure out the game
Wash looks like he's in his pjs!
Aww Simon wants to help, being the good doctor
How have I not noticed Jayne's tattoo before?
Simon does look scared in that suit
Oh Jayne, you do love winding him up
Of course Jayne goes for the food!
And the creepy factor arrives, the people strung up there! eek
Love Mal's attempt to calm him, before giving him a quick hit
Jayne being scared of going over there, whereas Simon is fine about doing it
Mal letting them go over so he can do other things, typical Mal
River and that guy's connecting dreams, kinda remind me of Angel and Penn
Guess they might have preferred the reavers compared to the Allience
Love Zoe and Wash's interviews!
And Kaylee still angry at Serenity being called junk!

See Mal you can still fight in handcuffs


Not one of my favourite eps, but does have some good parts in it
 
I really like this episode! I think it's funny, holds a good pace and keeps you interested in what'll happen next.

I love the interrogations, lol. Especially the difference between Wash's and Zoe's.
Didn't remember that they keep calling Kaylee "little Kaylee" which I find kind of annoying.

Also, the Alliance guys looking for River and Simon, I know they want to do a good job but - looking underneath tablets and cups on the kitchentable? 😉

I always liked Bushwacked so here goes.

It was good seeing the crew having fun and playing at the beginning of the episode, with Simon looking down on them.

Dialogue between Simon and Jayne -- funny, and Jayne embarrassing Simon by making him wear a suit over to the derelict ship.

Always too much emphasis on River's feet. We get it, she was a dancer IRL and she moves well.

Inara's shuttle looks so cosy! I want a cosy shuttle.

Wash talking about Zoe during his interview -- a nice break from the seriousness of what's going on.

Mal's unruly attitude towards the alliance is always good viewing. "There is no authority but yourself".

Simon, listen to your sister!!!

I wish we got to see the Reaver 'survivor' disfigure his face - I think I'd have been more convinced about how dangerous he was when Mal led the alliance abroad Serenity.

Mal saves Harken's life, and then we cut straight away to seeing Serenity go free, then the Alliance cruiser firing at the derelict ship and destroying it, following Mal's earlier advice, and following Harken witnessing the true horror of a reaver attack.

The horror.. the horror..

Still a good episode! Not a favourite but definitely a good mix of everything - although not enough Book and Jayne for my liking.

Yeah, sure. Anything they can find. No different then when the police get a search warrant, they dont just look what they are 'meant' to be there for, but anything incriminating. Considering the ship was named Serenity and it had no callsigns (or something like that) they were searching as much for the brother and sister as they were any contraband. Thats how they do.

That was what was scary about reavers... anyone could turn into them... then the movie just altered that ... lessened them I thought

I like how it's like "Holy crap" and then cut to "of course we let Serenity go after that"

Yeah... I think the editing in this episode was much better than trainjob


I really think every episode feels fun. The vibe of the show is just good. The banter isn't cheesy, and there are some really nice shots and edits in there.

I've been wondering these first two eps if with Zoe Joss really got his strong female character?
 
Yes! Zoe was awesome character. She was the most well rounded character I think.

Definitely. Plus it was quite good to see Gina Torres transition from playing the soft and benevolent Jasmine, to tough and in-control Zoe.
 
I don't like how dismissive Zoe is to Wash, it's patronizing, when he asks what is going on and she just replies ' Not now hunny.'. Then hearing what Zoe said in her interview, that Mal needed a pilot so she married Wash 🙁 it seems that she has no love for Wash, she just has blind loyalty to Mal.
 
Yea I don't think that she doesn't love Wash, but I also don't buy their love and marriage. They're just such an odd couple for me. Idk
 
Really? I always loved their relationship and jargon.

As for the interview I think her comment on marrying him because they needed a pilot has nothing to do with either Wash or Mal really, more her utter dislike for being interviewed/having to deal with Alliance folk, she doesn't feel like she needs to explain herself to them and shows it with contempt for their questions.

I can see were your coming from with the interview but her comment to Wash when he asked what was going on seemed very dismissive. Wash was genuinely concerned and she just shot him down. He didn't even try to stand up for himself, he just sat down looking lost.
