News BB getting some new digs!

So after a lot of research, I have finally decided to move BB to its own server account. It's going to be a little more expensive, but I *hope* it will help us alleviate or at least lessen the downtime we experience.

The downside is that there may be a little bit of downtime (meaning a couple hours at the most, I anticipate) this week, while the board is moved. I hope to be able to do this tomorrow, but you know how life is 😉

But I wanted to reassure everyone ahead of time that a) nothing is wrong and b) the boards will be back up as soon as we possibly can.

During the downtime, please feel free to discuss Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse, Dr. Horrible, and anything else of the BB nature over at our sister board After-Darkness (an added bonus of putting BB on its own account is that should it heaven forbid go down, AD will still be open and available). And of course we always have our chat room. The link on the board will probably not work during the downtime, so you will have to use Mibbit or an IRC program like mIRC or IceChat.

So we have completed the move to the new account, on a different server. Some people might not be seeing the boards as "up" for them yet, but that should happen for them over time. Hopefully it won't be too long. Please let us know if anything seems to not be working properly.

I did want to give another heads up that I do have an upgrade to do for the boards, but that should only take a few minutes of downtime.

Well I have to say, I really like the host we have which is why I haven't moved us somewhere else (because I don't really think we could get a better deal with the same level of service anyway). But this time they really did blow me away. Like some of you who were on at the time know already - I didn't plan to move the board last night, I was just getting things set up so I could do it today but then yadda yadda something happened with the buffy-boards url so I ended up having to do it on the fly. This was the first time I've ever had my host move files and such for me, and I expected it to take a couple hours for them to get to it. 2 seconds, it was done. In a fraction of the time it would have taken me to do it myself. I'm now really glad I decided to try this seperate account thing rather than trying to find a new host.
