BB Now Has It's Own IRC Chat Server - please update your links!

I'm happy to announce that BB is now on it's own irc server. So unfortunately that does mean we're moving to a new server but this should be the last time and it means we are in control of everything on it.

You can use the link under member community to go to the Chat, then just enter your username.

If you're using a program like mIRC or Ice Chat, the info is as follows:

server: irc.buffy-boards.com
channel: [HASHTAG]#buffy[/HASHTAG]

To register your username on the server, enter the following command:

/ns register pw email

where pw is the password you want and email is your email address.

Flash policy problem. If you are the server owner, please read http://redmine.lightirc.com/projects/lightirc/wiki/Flash_Policy_setup_instructions. You need to install a flash policy daemon at irc.buffy-boards.com (port 843).

If you want to enter the chat just click the link under member community and you will get to the new one 🙂


But if you're using a chat program already e.g. like mIRC or Ice Chat, then you'll need this info to enter the chatroom:

channel: #buffy

I've updated the link under Member Community. I'm still looking for a new chat client, but this one should do us in the meantime for those who don't connect with a program or Mibbit. You just need to enter in your username.

I'm guessing this is where I should ask this...

I just tried to get into the chat, and it's all crazy!!! Completely different looking and I had to put the station in. I got in, but no one was there, not the computer or anyone. Is this just an upgrade or maybe just me being confused?

I removed the link to wsirc and replaced it with mibbit because people were having too many problems with it. Please use the Mibbit directions in the FAQ or in the Who's in chat thread.

What I'd suggest is to install an decent IRC client instead of using the web based IRC client. 😉

(I already removed the link to that and now the board only links to Mibbit. Because some people can't use programs. But the web interface was supposed to be a last resort.)
