I read in this week's Radio Times, that one of the contestants on tomorrow's edition of Mastermind (BBC2 8.30pm) has chosen Buffy as their specialist subject. So us Brits can test ourselves against someone who fancies themselves as an expert...

A quick taster from the BBC web site of this week's specialist subjects -

American jazz, one of medieval Europe's most powerful women, an adolescent 20th century cult character, and communism in the Home Counties all face the black chair on Thursday 6th April at 8.30pm on BBCTWO as John Humphrys asks the questions.

So can you beat the experts - or will you need to pass? Play our quick quiz and find out now.

The cult supernatural TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The show's characters pay regular visits to a coffee bar that hosts live music and serves as a nightclub. Its name please
.

17th century English radicals Gerrard Winstanley and the Diggers.
Believing in a form of Christian communism, the Diggers acquired their name because...?

The life and times of Eleanor of Aquitaine.
In a long eventual life Eleanor was married both to the King of France and the King of England. Louis VII was her French spouse. Who was her English?

American jazz.
Regarded as the preeminent cool jazz saxophonist because he played with Miles Davis on his Birth of the Cool which gave the form its name, this man is..?

The four correct answers are: The Bronze, they took over public lands and dug them up to plant crops, Henry II, and Lee Konitz.

Pretty easy, huh? I wonder if the rest of the questions will be the same...

I've just thought...this Buffy specialist could be one of our British or Irish members. Anyone got anything to tell Uncle Pointy...?

Buffy Mastermind Q&As
I'm not posting the details as I only skimmed the post 'cos I taped the show and haven't watched it yet 🙂

I would've got 4 wrong, but I haven't rewatched the episodes in about 2 years. That would be my excuse. Here's the 4 I would've gotten wrong so y'all can see how much smarter you are. 🙂

7) How did Buffy prove that Kathy was a demon in 'Living Conditions'?

8) What did Anya think apart from bunnies might be causing the singing in 'Once More With Feeling'?

17) What three word message did Ethan Rayne leave behind in 'Halloween'? I would guess "see you soon", but I can't remember.

Oh, and the boyfriend between Angel and Riley, was his name Scott? Haven't a clue on the last name, but taking a guess, I would say Peterson, because it kind of feels like it goes with Scott.

Let's see. Scott Peterson was that dude in San Fran who offed his wife and unborn child, ugh. Major ugh.

fingernails, midgets and, um...Ethan?...no idea...

I knew it sounded familiar. :) OK, I looked it up - Scott Hope
Haven't watched it yet, but I did keep switching over during the breaks on Charmed, so I was aware she came top of the first round. i'm going to make hubby endure it later 😉

I thought the first one was hard! and the ethan rayne question was a toughie. Apart from that I did surprisingly well.

I thought the answer to the boyfriend betwen angel and riley was Parker.

I'd be calling for a double-check if they told me Scott or Parker was wrong.
Here's the answer to the Ethan Rayne one
Be seeing you

the only i couldnt get were the ethan rayne one and the showtime demon. they do have the answers on the page though.

Yeah I would have said Parker to the Boyfriend one, just because it went Angel - Scott - Angel - Riley
Apart from that the only one I would have a problem with would be:
13) What happened to Amber the cheerleader in 'The Witch'?

Is it that she spontaneously combusted or a spell was cast on her to make her burst into flames? I would have said spontaneous combustion but then I questioned it?

I would've said to the judges "Generally, when the boyfriend dies I tend to think of the relationship as being over."

Also don't Angel and Buffy start their relationship a second time briefly in I Will Remember You? Does that mean there is no boyfriend between Riley and Angel.

Which would be a valid argument IF in Choices Buffy didnt say the line 'we'll be alright'(or something) because the Mayor had just told them their relationship won't last and in the next episode 'The Prom' Angel feels the need to break up with Buffy then on their next meet Buffy 'can lie to him if she wantsto now. they're ex, remember?'(or something similar)

I don't understand this one....technically Buffy doesnt have any memories of that Day, except leaving after killing the demon in the office, This was JUST as she was starting something with Riley, she even comments to Ange 'i'm on the verge of something back home'.
Its before Something Blue but after Pangs, there is established interest between both Parties, its post Parker but pre anything serious between Buffy Riley.

I just had a funny thought. If the judges said that to me, they would be coming back from commercial, and I would still be arguing. I would be like Cliff Clavin on Jeopardy. 😀

Looking over the list, I would have got four wrong (dang! lol). I actually found the ethan one the easiest ones (given I've seen the episode WAY to many times), but I had no idea what the showtime demon was. ???

(four I would have got wrong... in spoiler just in case)

1) What was the address Buffy gave when she phoned for an ambulance in 'The Body'.
3) Which episode was Dawn introduced in?
10) What was the name of the oracle that Giles and Anya consulted in 'Showtime'?
12) How many hearts did the Gentleman have to get in 'Hush'?
