WHO IS BEST AT BEING BAD?

Hey guys,

This is my first proper thread, having joined just a couple of days ago. It would be interesting to hear from you all so I can get to know you!!

What I want to ask is which villain throughout the seven series is the Buffy Board's favourite? It doesnt have to be one of the big bads that spans a whole series, can be one episode's worth, like THe Gentleman from Season 4's Hush.

I want you to reply with the name of your favourite, why it is your favourite and then your favourite quote from them!

Then after a while I can count them all up and reveal who is really the best at being bad

It will be interesting to see the results.....

Mine would have to be The Gentleman. Although they only appeared in one episode, and other villains had a whole series to develop, their complete and utter creepiness is made even more intense since no victim can cry out when they are after them - they really are unforgettable...

However I realise I cant quote them as they dont say anything!! but for quote purposes I have to choose Glory from season five!! She had the best lines......

(1) Glory: "Wow... the Slayer's a robot. Did everybody else know the Slayer was a robot?
Buffy: [standing behind her] Glory. [attacks her with Olaf's hammer] You're not the brightest god in the heavens, are you?

(2) Glory "I just want you to know: this whole "˜beat you to death-thing' I'm doing is valuable time out of my life that I'm never going to get back."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok so remember

(1) Name of Villain
(2) Why is it your favourite?
(3) Best quote from your selected villain

Darla

She's my favorite villain because she had a lot of depth to her. She could be sadistic, petty, but she also you could tell she had a passion for many things, especially Angelus. She got her best character development on Angel. You got to see her, in flashbacks, helping him ease into the life of a vampire. Then when she came on the scene in season 2 she shook Angel to his core, bringing out the worst in him. She was very charming, and could manipulate people, as she proved with Lindsey. Yet Darla had probably one of the best ends of a villain on the show, when she staked herself so her son could be born. Sure, it was partly done because his soul was influencing her, but such a noble end to a sadistic character is something you don't see everyday. Her impact on the Buffyverse can't be overstated either, because without her there wouldn't be an Angel, Spike or Dru.

Favorite quote: "This child, Angel... It's the one good thing we've ever done together. The only good thing. You make sure to tell him that."

I love Darla too! in fact she made season 2 of Angel! There is something that draws me in everytime I watch her! Plus she was the first vampire we see in BtVs. I love her character in "Angel" - I agree with everything you say!!!
This is a tough one but I'm going to choose the Mayor because he was truly menacing, evil and cruel and yet I really enjoyed watching him on the screen and I liked him despite the fact that I felt he truly had no chance or desire for redemption.

All the other villains I liked Darla, Lindsey, Spike, Faith, Drusilla, Lilah etc. I felt sympathy for and thought had a chance for redemption. But the Mayor was evil through and through and yet somehow managed to be likable.

There's so many to choose from... :/

Well, I guess one of my favourites would be The Gentlemen. I find that their the most frightening, and I've actually had multiple nightmares about them. They're just so creepy, the way they smile and float around. And the fact they don't even say anything, and no one else can say anything, it's just really creepy.

But my favourite season-packed big bad would be Glory. I just think she's awesome, and although she's completely evil and twisted, it's really hard to hate her. And she's got some awesome lines.

I love this quote from Darla in "Angel"

"What a poster child for soulfulness you are! This is no life, Angel. Before you got neutered, you just weren't any vampire, you were a legend. Nobody could keep up with you. Not even me. And you don't learn that kind of darkness. It's innate. It was in you before we ever met. And you said you can smell me? Well, I can smell you too. And my boy is still in there and he wants out. "

🙂

I'm torn between Glory and Caleb. I love them both for their strength and ability to get Buffy truly rattled. Glory is insane and kinda like the mean girl you love to hate, and Caleb may be a mysogonistic bastard, but he's downright funny sometimes. 🙂

As a character who's evil, Spike would be my favorite. But as a villain it woud be either Glory or the Mayor. I find the more human ones the most liked by me. Both Glory and the Mayor don't look very regal and all evil and bad. They're funny, they're light. They're not dark. I can easily relate to them (not that I've ever been a god or wanted to be a big snake 🙂 ), they have human feelings and they look human. They're fun to watch, they make me laugh.

I think I'm going say Glory. It's hard to choose. It really is. But I think Glory is my favorite villian, 'Big Bad'.

Angelus.

He's my favorite villain because he's so much different from Angel. I do love Angel, but it's fascinating how a person can turn completely around just because he doesn't have a soul. Like to minds living in one body.

Angelus has a lot of witty quotes, but my favorite one is the one from Passion.

Angelus

He is my favorite because he knew Buffy so much better than any other villain before or after. He was able to make the fight personal for her for the first time.

Angelus or the Master. Angelus for the reasons listed above and the Master because he's just so kind of camp and fun for a villian. His whole attitude, his giddiness at times, his indulgence towards Darla... he's just great at being gleefully evil, much like Angelus he really seems to take pleasure in it.

I've just watched, "Helpless" from Season 3, does anybody remember Kralik (the insane vampire the Council pit against Buffy as a test)? - That vampre is terryifying I think!!!

Wolfram & Hart were my absolute favorite. Hell, they helped defeat The First solely because it's apocalypse conflicted with their Apocalypse (with a capital 'A').

The new Angelus. Don't care about him the first hundred years or so but once we see him after getting to know Buffy oh yes. Don't have a favourite quote at the moment but even if I did it would probably not be something very evil.

Angelus, he really knew how to get under their skin, fighting against him really hurt Buffy.
