[13:32] <VisionGirl> 1st question is from me: When did you first watch Buffy?
[13:33] <HisMrs> The first time I ever watched Buffy was during its original airing. The first episode I ever saw was "The Witch" and I thought it was a LOT different I wasn't completely sold on it yet. It took me a while before I got really into the show.

[13:34] <HisMrs> I love Buffy (of course), and Xander. Buffy is the type of person I wish I could be: she's cool, beautiful, funny, and absolutely awesome. Xander is so funny and loyal to the people he loves...
[13:35] <VisionGirl> do you wish Xander & Buffy had hooked up?
[13:36] <HisMrs> Definitely! I always thought if Xander and Buffy had become a couple, they would have been amazing together. However, I wish it would have happened in the later seasons after Xander was more mature and Buffy needed a MAN in her life.

🙂 I didn't get totally hooked until Season 2 started airing. I think it was probably around the time of "Ted"'s airing that I realized I was definitely addicted.

[13:39] <HisMrs> Hmm.... I would have to say Andrew. I hated his nasal voice and the way he acted like a whiny child. He had a few funny moments, but overall I saw him as a complete waste of space.
[13:39] <VisionGirl> Favorite episode?
[13:41] <HisMrs> Wow, that's a tough one... I don't know if I can pick just one!! If I HAD to pick 1 episode, though, I'd probably say "Graduation Day pt 2". I never get tired of watching it; it's so kick ass!!
[13:41] <VisionGirl> I have a really hard time picking just one too, and I also love that episode!
[13:42] <VisionGirl> Do you like Angel, the Series?
[13:43] <HisMrs> I do like "Angel", but definitely not as much as BtVS. "Angel" has such a different vibe to it, for me... It's darker and the characters are much more adult. It also has much more testosterone in the cast, and I was always drawn more toward the "girl power" message in BtVS. But yes, I do like AtS.

[13:44] <HisMrs> Yes, BtVS is the first fandom I've ever been into. Before Buffy, I had never even thought about seeking out other fans to talk to online, and I had never wanted to collect things having to do with the show, etc. It's hard to believe that I still love the fandom and show so much after all these years, but I think it speaks highly of the fans and the characters.
[13:45] <VisionGirl> Do you like/watch any other Whedon shows?
[13:46] <HisMrs> I absolutely adore "Firefly"! I got into "Firefly" really late, and I hate that 'cause it's such an amazing show... My husband watched "Serenity" and told me he loved it, and wanted to watch the series, so we bought it and watched it together. I was blown away...
[13:46] <VisionGirl> Have you seen The Avengers?
[13:47] <HisMrs> No I haven't, and I'm sad about that. LOL We don't go to the movies very often in our house, though, so I will probably wait til it comes out on DVD.
[13:48] <VisionGirl> Ive already pre-ordered the DVD from Amazon LOL! How about Dollhouse? Dr. Horrible? Cabin in the Woods?
[13:48] <HisMrs> I hated "Dollhouse"... It literally bored me to sleep. LOL I thought "Dr. Horrible" was OK but kinda overrated... I haven't watched "Cabin In the Woods" and probably won't; the plot doesn't appeal to me at all.
[13:49] <VisionGirl> Does your husband share your Buffy/Whedon passion and do you let your kids watch?
[13:51] <HisMrs> My husband enjoys Buffy and Angel, but not as much as I do. When we got married I told him how much I loved them, and we bought each season as they came out and he really likes them. He joined BB a long time ago but he never posts... He's definitely not into the fandom as much as I am. LOL And yes, we do let our kids watch... My girls both love the shows. When they were younger and afraid of the dark, we told them Buffy kept the monsters away from their rooms so they would sleep at night.

[13:58] <HisMrs> I found Buffy Boards in the fall of 2008.... I was in the middle of a rewatch and wondered if there were still any active Buffy boards out there. I was pleasantly surprised to find this place... I joined and haven't looked back!

[14:02] <HisMrs> I was approached by Darla about becoming a mod here on BB. I spend so much of my time here, and I love Buffy Boards so much that it seemed natural for me to say yes. I was a prefect for VH for over a year before I was a mod, and I really enjoyed that position and putting in the time and work it takes to keep BB running smoothly. I became a mod because I love this place and want to keep it the warm, fun community it was when I first joined here.

[14:02] <VisionGirl> What exactly does a mod do?
[14:05] <HisMrs> OH wow... LOL There is a lot of work involved in being a mod. Most people think it's just editing posts and moving threads and the occasional mediation in a thread if people get out of line. It's a lot more than that. There's a lot more that goes on behind the scenes that the members don't get to see. We are always in talks about ways to keep the board active, fun, and friendly for all, which means planning activities, discussing member issues, and more.

[14:08] <HisMrs> Hmmm.... I would have to say the art forum. Joyce's Gallery is the reason I got into fanart, which has become my creative outlet. I absolutely love fanart and getting to share my work and give feedback on others' work,too.

[14:09] <VisionGirl> Speaking of that, we’ve had lots of questions about your fanart. So, here goes: PassionBecoming asks “What made you decided to go into graphic design?
[14:11] <HisMrs> Fanart is the reason I decided to go into graphic design. Before I began making fanart I had been making siggies for other forums I was a member of, but it was making wallpapers that made me really realize how much I absolutely love creating art in Photoshop. Getting into fanart made me realize that I wanted to do graphic design for my career, so I started school for it in 2009.
[14:12] <VisionGirl> When do you graduate, and what exactly would you like to do with your degree?
[14:14] <HisMrs> I want to go to work for a large company. I live near Nashville, and there are opportunites around here to design merchandise for musicians like CD covers, T shirts, etc. How awesome would it be to walk into a store and see a Taylor Swift CD and know I designed that CD cover and booklet? I would absolutely LOVE to do something like that. I have also been thinking about going into marketing and designing ads for magazines or billboards.
[14:14] <VisionGirl> Some day we'll be able to say "We knew her when..." Enemies asks, “How did you become so good in photoshop?”
[14:16] <HisMrs> LOL!! Awww, Linz! Well, honestly, I just kept on making stuff. Practice, practice, practice. I would follow tutorials sometimes, or look at some of my favorite artists' work to see how I could try to get my art to look more like theirs.
[14:16] <VisionGirl> Jodast asks, “The art you show on BB and your website is stunning! Do you work in other media ie sculpture, watercolour etc?”
[14:17] <HisMrs> Thank you so much, Jodast!! I paint with acrylics, and I draw sometimes but I am WAY out of practice with drawing... I used to be pretty good when I was younger but now I suck. LOL
[14:18] <VisionGirl> Nix asks, “What keeps you making fan art?”
[14:20] <HisMrs> I keep getting inspired.
🙂 I get a lot of inspiration through music... I'll be driving or listening to music while I'm working and sometimes I'll hear a certain lyric and it just sticks in my head. Sometimes the piece formulates in my head before I even "set foot" in Photoshop.
[14:20] <VisionGirl> Nix asks, “If you could only make art for the rest of your life based on one character/actor from any verse, who would you pick? “
[14:21] <HisMrs> I would definitely pick Buffy. Buffy goes through so much in her life on the show... In 7 seasons we see her experience so much loss and emotional maturity. It's great stuff for fanart.
[14:21] <VisionGirl> As a follower of the comics myself, you know that I always really appreciate your comics fanart. How is working on that type of art different from other kinds?
[14:23] <HisMrs> Well thank you! Well with comics, the coloring is a lot different than when you're using a photo of a real person, so you have to take that into account when working with gradients and textures. A lot of times, the colors in the comic drawing are already so beautiful that I don't add anything to that picture, and I'll pull the colors for the textures and gradients from the image.
[14:23] <VisionGirl> And now some personal questions: Jodast: Besides your family what are you most proud of? What is your dream job? What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given? What is your favourite joke?

[14:26] <HisMrs> Besides my family, I'm most proud of the fact that I have gone back to school to finish college. I flunked out the first time I went to college and most people who do that don't ever go back. Now here I am with my associate's degree, on my way to my bachelor's.
🙂 I'm very proud of myself for that...... My dream job is to be a graphic designer for promotional materials for TV shows. It's pretty much what I'm doing now, except I'd be getting paid.

I truly believe that, 'cause graphic design never feels like work to me. I don't know what my favorite joke is... [14:29] <HisMrs> LOL I met my husband at a night club. The story is long and involved, but very funny... Let's just say it involved his head glowing under a blacklight, and then him saving me from getting hit with a beer bottle. LOL
[14:30] <VisionGirl> I defnitely want to hear that whole story some day! Anchorman: Love it or hate it?
[14:30] <HisMrs> I hate it... LOL I'm not usually a big fan of Will Ferrel. Though he cracked me up in "Elf" and "Old School".
[14:31] <VisionGirl> Do you consider yourself shy or outgoing?
[14:31] <HisMrs> I'm very outgoing... Sometimes I will be quiet to kind of feel out a person or people before speaking up, but I am never afraid to meet new people or make new friends.

[14:33] <HisMrs> I love dogs. I miss mine so much, but my youngest is allergic to both cats and dogs, so no pets for us.

[14:37] <HisMrs> LOL Oh my God... Well, when I was in high school, my friends and I dressed up as the Spice Girls and performed in public as the entertainment at a small convention in our area... I was Scary Spice, which meant rolling my long black hair on perm rods and faking a 'fro. LOL

[14:43] <HisMrs> I love aldult contemporary (Matchbox Twenty, Mat Kearney, Matt Nathanson) music and I tend to be drawn toward dramas and comedies when I choose movies. I don't read much anymore, which is sad, but when I do I love a good mystery with a paranormal twist. One movie I absolutely love that I will never ever get tired of is "Steel Magnolias". I swear that is what me and my best friends will be like when we get old.
[14:43] <VisionGirl> Our last question is from Old Master 3.0. Ahem: "You have such a gorgeous singing voice, why don't you sing more?"
[14:44] <HisMrs> Awww, Walt! I don't know, really. I don't like to record myself singing with my hubby and kids in the house because they won't be quiet, and I feel weird with them watching. Also, I NEVER get the house to myself, like EVER.

[14:46] <VisionGirl> One last question from me: We're both moms. What are your thoughts on the depiction of mothers, parent/child relationships, and sibling relationships in the Whedonverse?
[14:47] <VisionGirl> & sorry to end on a deep question- I meant to ask that earlier!
[14:48] <HisMrs> Ooh, nice one... Wow. Well for the most part, the parent/child relationships in the Whedonverse make me sad. Most of the characters have little to no interaction/closeness with their family, which I think is really odd and upsetting. I think that as the series went on, Joyce became a great example of a good mom in TV... She had her mistakes (which is good writing, 'cause no one is perfect), but she was there for Buffy and Dawn.
[14:50] <HisMrs> Buffy and Dawn had a very realistic and good relationship I think, as sisters. Their sibling portrayal seemed very real and natural to me. But as far as the other shows, we never really get to see any of these relationships, except for Fred's parents in "Angel", and they were freakin' AWESOME.
[14:51] <VisionGirl> Yes they were! And I always loved Simon & River's relationship. I'm doing the Dollhouse ReWatch & there are some characters who lose their children, which always hits me so hard. So does Darla's pregnancy/childbirth arc on Angel.
[14:51] <HisMrs> Yes... Darla's birthing scene always makes me cry. Her sacrifice for Connor is so beautiful and emotional.
