Ok folks, so what did you think?

Personally I think Angel was BTVS's first step in becoming that show that it became. Easily the best episode of season 1 (no not just cuz of Bangel). It had the mythology, the scenes with Angel and Darla were fantastic.

It was a small but select group of us in BBtv on Saturday afternoon/Sunday morning - It really is great fun watching the episodes along with others in the chat. I highly reccommend it to everyone and afterall, the more the merrier!

I really enjoy the episode "Angel". I agree with Keno above^ that his scenes with Darla are great and it does lay the foundation for his whole mythology and back story. i also think Buffy's reactions to him and his revelation are spot on perfect. However, There is one thing that bothers me...


Buffy: What changed?

Angel: Fed on a girl about your age... beautiful... dumb as a post... but a favorite among her clan.

Buffy: Her clan?

Angel: Romany. Gypsies. The elders conjured the perfect punishment for me. They restored my soul.

I just don't like how Angel describes the gypsy girl as 'dumb as a post'...I mean, it just seems kind of petty , like he's blaming her for getting herself killed. It also kind of diminishes the sympathy you are beginning to feel for him. It just seems like a pointless, nasty thing to say. (And I won't even touch on the fact that the poor girl was gagged and bound and hardly got a chance to display her intellectual capacities while Angelus was devouring her from the thigh up, cos you know, we didn't find out about that till later...)

But other than that, great episode!

I Robot ...You Jane - I'm not so kean on. It's in my top five worst eps. The story just doesn't grab me.

Last night I just wasn't up to it, so no BBTv this time for me. But since I have seen them before...

Agree that the episode Angel is one of the better in season 1.
Probably only beaten by "Prophecy Girl" imho.

A favorite is Buffy panicking when she thinks Angel read her diary.
'A' doesn't even stand for 'Angel' for that matter, it stands for... 'Achmed' lol

It was fun with all the secrecy that they had do deal with in the beginning, I kinda miss that later seasons.
Like when they had to explain why Giles was with Buffy at the hospital when Joyce got bitten.
Joyce: Boy, the teachers really do care in this town.

Gotta love the idea with a demon that goes binary.

It also have lots of funny moment, including one of my all time favorite.
Oh, this guy could be anybody. He could be weird, or crazy, or old, or... He could be a circus freak.

Love how she goes from could be to probably, great delivery by SMG.

Buffy in the "trenchcoat" makes me laugh every time. It's one of those great cuts that I like so much.

The end is also great, talk about foreshadowing...
Buffy: Let's face it: none of us are ever gonna have a happy, normal relationship.
Xander: We're doomed!
Willow: Yeah!
