Hey guys🙂

I'm hoping you can help me out by brainstorming together about BBTv.

For those of you who don't know it is the section of the board where we organise and watch epsiodes of Buffy or anything Whedon related for that matter, together.

At the moment it's doing ok but I think it can be better.

One of the main reasons for thi, I think anyway, is due to the times: they are impractical. I know this, in fact they rarely suit me too but I find it hard to get a discusion going about how we can fix this so I'm asking everyone what they think!

One suggestion, by N4H I believe, was that we would have people from each region organise a time that suits them instead of trying to cater for everyone with one time. That sounds really good to me? What about you guys?

Is there anything you would like to see on BBTv? Anything you would like to do?

I think it would be fantastic if we could have a time that caters more for my time zone, which I wouldn't have a clue about what it is!

If it's on a Friday or Saturday night then I'll be out drinking, not on the Buffy Boards or talking about Buffy.

Well since it's your time zone it can be any day of the week you and your fellow time-zonians (I think I just made up a word) want it to be.

i know not everyone can make teh same time so how about having 2 showings per week so that those who cannot make the first showing can make the other?

the time zone idea sounds quite good too 🙂

We have two showings as it stands. So there is no problem with keeping that.

Okay, so obviously the time that BBTv is happening right now isn't working, yes? (look out guys, I'm actually putting on a thinking cap 😉)

Maybe posting (1) Whether or not you find the time an issue and (2) What time zone you are in, would be helpful. That seems to be the first thing we need to figure out. If we can figure out where abouts we all will be watching, then we can set up some kind of an alternate plan for times, right?

And what do you guys think of the possibility of having each region organize a time that suits them best (so UK have one time, Canada another, Japan another.... you get the idea). Those seem to be the essential info to figure out right now-- from what I see anyway!

So for me, my info would be...

Current Time: Yes or No?
The time that it happens right now is okay, but I'm open to change. So no

Your Timezone?
Eastern Time, GMT -5 hrs (Canada)

Region Specific Times: Yes or No?
Sounds like a plan to me 🙂

How about everyone else?

Honestly, I am rather indifferent to the whole thing. Each week since it started I go in there (and on occasion more than once a week), and there are numerous people in standard chat but at best three people ever go into BBTV. If people were interested, it seems like more would attend. Understand the time zone issue, and things coming up, but it is shown at different times, and you cannot tell me that week after week no more than two or three people can ever manage to attend, when there are sometimes dozen of people in chat.

yeah i've noticed that as well.

I've noticed that too.
Alright so on my end....

Current Time: Yes or No?
Well right now we do a Saturday and a Monday showing. The Weekend thing won't ever realistically work for me, I'm either at work our just not home. Mondays are generally okay (any other weekday would probably work for me most of the time as well) right now its at 5pm Eastern for me... I could do with it being an hour or two later than that cause sometimes I'm just not out of work that early.

Your Timezone?
Eastern Time, GMT -5 hrs (Canada)

Region Specific Times: Yes or No?
Sounds good.. but maybe not one for each individual timezone, maybe lump timezones within a couple of hours or so from eachother together in one showing so that there will be more than just a few people participating at a time?

I, like Scobro, have regularly attended on a Saturday - I have only missed the first week - this week as there was nobody there past the first 10 minutes I watched it privately. I even had a private screening of Amends on Christmas Eve. I mean guys, what a missed opportunity!

I find it quite ridiculous that nobody bothers going. I mean, isn't that primarily why we are here? To be able to discuss REAL TIME with other Buffy fans the meanings of episodes, the bad make up... the FORESHADOWING (!)

You know we all miss Buffy since it's demise. So to get a new angle, a different viewing experience, to see them all chronologically, to build the arc's as near as damn it to what was intended? The anticipation? I mean I sat through Season 1 just to get to ANGELUS!!! I just don't understand why the members aren't more interested. Especially as there are often so many people in chat at the time.

I do wish though, that we would lock the doors once we have started, cos it can get very distracting when people come in for 10 minutes half way through and episode, then leave.

Time zone - GMT (the original and best)

Region Specific - well, I'm happy with 8pm on a Saturday, but that suits my (non)lifestyle. Babies are in bed, not so late I can't watch anything else after.

I think it would be good to maybe run some films too. Last night I watched Interview With A Vampire, and it was kinda lonesome, laptop in bed with a glass of wine by myself.... Just think! Dracula, Lost Boys, Underworld, Blade, Queen of The Damned...... we had the thread with the best Vamp movies on it. Not sure anyone will want to watch Love at First Bite with me, but you get my drift!

What about Innocent Blood, The Hunger (with bowie of course) or Near Dark (with a burnt up billy paxton)

Oooo, SO with you on the Underworld screening! Let's do that sometime!
Here's my $.02

Current Time
I have family issues with it, honestly. My hubby is not a fan of either Buffy or the IRC (he's a needy sucker), and when BBTv is on, he's either home or fixing to get home and I have to make dinner and otherwise cater to him. I would LOVE to join in, but the times as they stand are bad for me.

Time Zone
American EST (not sure what that is GMT . . . -5?)

Region Specific
That could be fun. I'd be sad not to have the Swedes, Germans, or British Islanders in the room, but at least I'd be able to join in.

I think the best thing that would work for me (especially after school starts), is early-to-mid Tuesday or Thursday afternoons (I'll be teaching all day on MWF next semester). I know that's not practical for everyone, though.

The time zone seperation thing sounds good in theory, but let's not forget we have a huge variety of different members from different age classes with different lifestyles. This might sound complicated, but maybe we could first divide people into time zone groups and then into time of the day groups. So what I mean is for example we make 3 huge groups, Aussie time, European time, American time. Then in these groups we divide let's say into morning time, afternoon, evening and late evening, depending on when everyone feels they have the most time. Then, we could for example take the Aussie late night people, together with the European afternooners, together with the American morning viewers. And because we then have these different times of the day, people could pick the general area that suits their lifestyle best.

And here my general info:

Time zone: GMT+1 (Belgium)

Region specific: see above

That sounds really involved but I think its a great idea, it could really work.
These are some really great ideas guys...

What if we did something like this, where we have the region specific times sorted out and we have a screening for each region when it suits them...if we advertise when each screening is people can catch whichever one suits them that week? So that everything isn't so set in stone?

My main problem was that it was running against Spooks. And, sorry, but Spooks was always going to win out. Now that that is finished, I should be able to attend. I've just not really been sure when it's on for the last few weeks. Plus - Christmas. But now it should be easier.

Current Time

Not sure. Is it still on a Monday night? Cause that's fine by me.

Time Zone

GMT

Region Specific

I think it's necessary, especially with DST going on now.

And I do like the idea of locking the doors too, and only joining if you intend to watch. It's hard enough to sync everything up when you finally do you don't want to wait for a newcomer, once you're ten minutes into it already. Furthermore, syncing up would be easier also if we knew who has a 'previously on..' DVD and whose DVD just starts the current episode. Those little seconds do tend to throw everything off.

Well, as for me:

Current Time: Yes or No?
I have no problems with the current time, except that it falls in the middle of Sat. afternoon for me, which is when I'm usually getting housework, etc. done that didn't get finished during the week. I mean, I'll go along with everyone's wishes, but I like the region-specific thing, too.

Your Timezone?
Central Time, US, GMT - 6 hrs

Region Specific Times: Yes or No?
That would work for me, too, especially a week night

My main concern are people like Cait and Dru (I mean JasperFan) that have said they want to but none of the times are good for them.

If it would help, I'd be willing to air a 3rd showing Friday night here at like 10pm or 11pm. That would be noon or 13:00 on Saturday for Aussie....not sure about the rest of you because I don't know exactly where you live. But, surely it would be noon or later for the rest of the "Hell Dimension" 🙂 I mean the rest of AUS and NZ!
It might also work for those in England and Scotland who stay up too late....you KNOW who you are!

Well, originally the Saturday time WAS made for Dru, it was made with her specifically in mind. Because she, I and Kean trying to find a time that would work to a degree for all involved.

True, but it's obviously not working, but she does show up late at night....or late at night here!
