Whoop we're starting, let us know if your joining in, and if your on Twitter [HASHTAG]#BBTV[/HASHTAG] to join in!

The Witch is one of my favorite episodes of Buffy. It was a good dark episode that set up the foundation for witchcraft. Pity they moved into the sparkley magic in season 6.

But the story was good, and believable, in the age of Honey Boo boo and those pageant mom TV shows, you just know some of those women have at least attempted to try and do it 😉

Teachers pet was never a favorite of mine, but I had forgotten how funny it was. and ashleigh pointed something else out on Twitter, for Ms.French to go after Mr. Gregory, he would have have to have been a virgin. Funny how you learn new things on a rewatch!

Neither of these was ever my favorite episode, but rewatching them (which I haven't done in a while) I really don't dislike them and they are better than I remembered. I think during BBTV we caught a lot of little things I hadn't noticed before.

I really realized how much I loved these characters when they were just starting out. How asskicking Buffy was and how hot Angel was!

Yeah we started this week, we watched 1 and 2 on Tuesday and 3 and 4 on Saturday.

This thread is for your thoughts on the episodes, and this one is for what episode we're on! We'll do the next one on Wednesday!

Okay, catching up. I have to admit that I've always had a special place in my heart for 'the witch', if its drunk Buffy, a youth-obsessed nightmare of a witch mother or Cordelia behind the wheel I'm not sure. ButBuffy and the gang goes Sabrina really works for me. The episode is fun, scary and I love the Scoobie interaction.

...although those cheerleaders are very unpleasant and deprived of a sense of fun. Tossing people around might be a minus but before that they're just so stiff about Buffy's mirth. As if its that bad? She's enthusiastic and cheery aren't cheerleaders supposed to be?

"Teacher's pet".... Meh. I'm not a fan of this episode. The giant bug for one just doesn't work for me and the obsession with virgins is hackneyed even if it is male virgins. What this ep has going for it is a glimpse of Angel who is oh so cute here 🙂 otherwise it's an episode I don't mind skipping, i only bother watching it because it has that old nostalgic Buffy feeling

Never kill a boy on the first date

One of my favorite season 1 episode, perhaps even the favorite. I think it's classic Btvs in fun and storytelling. The Scoobygang are so charming together, especially Buffy and Willow. I mostly feel bad for poor jealous Xander however, he's such a cute but pining teenage boy here.

This episode can, IMO, boast to having two of the best and most memorable lines from the entire show (there are plenty of course but these ever left my mind)

"In that case I won't wear my button that says "I'm a Slayer, ask me how!" '
And
"If the apocalypse comes, beep me"

Other observations:
The master... Ah <3 cheesy to perfection.
-Buffy is SO cute!
-Aargh! The outfits! First the horrendous green and white dress, then the blue midriff top with the brown pants! What the....? It's just so ugly. I'll admit that I have a strange weakness for Buffy's gold dress for some reason I can't explain but aren't all of her skirts unreasonably short? Especially considering how much she flipping around and what not.
-I like Buffy's teen swooniness over Owen. It's cute and fun, although the actor who plays Owen looks kind of old... I'm not sure how much I like the Buffy vs Cordy thing though. It feels like Cordy is just reduced to a stereotypical mean girl with Buffy being put on a high horse because she's our heroine. I would have liked it better if maybe Owen hadn't been quite as disinterested in Cor.
-jealous Angel at Buffy's date, funny🙂 and salty goodness indeed!
- Xander and Willow... Just <3 Reminding me how much I love them.
- Buffy's "we don't have any clocks at my house" to Owen is golden. Love it 🙂
- did Owen use an urn to smash over the vamps head? Hello inappropriate!

Conclusion: good stand alone episode with fun and wittiness as well as suspense. Plus, though I'm no fan of him, I like the twist that the Annointed one is a small child.

Yeah when I thought back on this episode it wouldn't have jumped out at me, but the dialog is absolutely brilliant, it has some of the most iconic lines of the series.

The actual story is really good to, I didn't see the twist coming the first time I watched it, and making the anointed one, made the whole idea of the anointed one really creepy, it's a pity that the kid grew up and they had to abandon the story.
