Good evening gentle viewers and welcome to BBtv🙂

Before we go any further I would ask that anyone who hasn't read the BBtv Guidelines does so now. Buffy-Boards

Since this is our premier screening on BBtv, I though it only right for us to start with Buffy's first episode, Welcome to the Hellmouth.

So it is with great pleasure that I announce that on Saturday, October 18th 2008 at 3pm eastern time we will be watching Welcome to the Hellmouth together.

The chat will take place in the IRC, if you haven't joined yet do it now so we can all enjoy the fun.

Also, remember guys this the place where we will organise screenings so if you any requests post them here.

Happy viewing🙂

You're not in the US, a recent vote of the active members that Europeans were the highest participants in the active threads, why do you feel the need to pander to a different timezone. Pointless, absolutely pointless.

It would have been a handy time for me, had I been home. Besides 8 pm in the UK is not a HORRIBLE time either
Sorry Kea, I´m kinda stupid with timelines... What do you mean with eastern time? xD

Wasn't there already something like this going on?? I've definitely been to one of these type things before....

The best way to explain the time thing is to give examples. I'm currently on Boston so 3PM my time tomorrow will be 12PM in L.A. and 8pm in Ireland and Britian. So basically if you know how many hours difference there is between Boston and your area you'll be set. If you have any more trouble let me know🙂

Just a little something about what this is. Members of the board requested a service where by they could watch shows/movies together and chat about it at the same time. That is exactly what BBTv provides. We watch the whatever we decide we want to watch and chat in the IRC. Fun for everyone🙂

If you have something you want to request to watch just post it in here, if the the day is free I'll post it in the calendar and we can also promote through BB Newsletter.

That's totally doable if we can agree to a day and time we can all stick to.

really? I figured there'd be like. 100 diff reasons that wont work

Is eastern time EST?

Oh.. so we dont watch them all at once? I was going to take the week off work making ready for the Buffy marathon. All seven seasons in a row. Sounds like a plan to me!

You want to tal to everyone elses boss/teachers and get us time off too? lol
Okay, I'm stupid with time, so help me out pls...3pm eastern time, would that be 9pm here in Belgium (I think we're in the same time zone as Paris, Berlin etc)?

Umm, not to knock your idea but you do know that the majority of the BB members who use IRC, which is only a fraction of the board membership, has already been doing this with the SHPS Group for a couple of months now?

We're way ahead of you.

Lol, for once you ARE one of the ones who are ahead. 75 posts in 14 days? Hmmm...:P SHPS ROCKS!
It also seems a little strange that, despite the recent poll that showed that the majority of the active members are European, you would choose a time that's completely innapropriate for them. 8/9/10 pm on a Saturday night? There's a reason we've been doing it on Sundays and midweek.

NOT that I intend on joining this pointless endeavour, but I must give you karma for pointing out the one thing I was just about to do, the totally ridiculous usage of EST when most people who recently voted did so European SO GMT was adequate.

and why we moved syncs to a sunday...
What're you guys doing for Halloween? You BBTV people. Should I dress up?

Bored of the Dead disagrees: You're not in the US, a recent vote of the active members that Europeans were the highest participants in the active threads, why do you feel the need to pander to a different timezone. Pointless, absolutely pointless.

Actually, I am in the US, have been for a couple of months and will be for a another couple but thank you for your concern.

Now as for why I chose that time I thought it was the most accessible for most people. This isn't just for people who frequent the IRC, it's for the whole board. It was chosen for that purpose, some people may not like chat rooms but the like idea of watching the show and chatting about it with their BB buddies.

If the times do not suit people we can work something else out, even have to seperate screenings fo different time-zones.

This is our first run people, we are just testing the waters.

The Sunday and midweek scheduling sounds good though. I will take that on board.

Todays screening of Welcome to the Hellmouth will of course still go ahead. After that we can make plans for the future screenings together.

Okay..

To Whom It May Concern,

Due to circumstances beyond their control, (insert your name) will have to excuse themselves from (job/school) this week as there is trouble on the Hellmouth, and their services are needed.

Being the responsible member of society as they, and you are, we are confident that you will be acquiescent to the situation; when action is called for, all that can answer the call, should answer the call.

We appreciate your compliance in the matter and rest assured that the evil will be beaten back in due time. In the event of an emergency, or another Hellmouth being opened, you can reach (insert your name) at Buffy-Boards.com.

You can take comfort in the fact that with your compliance you are making life better for vampires with souls and cheerleaders everywhere.

Sincerely,

Rupert Giles

Does that work for you?

See, if you'd just maintained communications with Fake Shemp and myself, we could have told you that. We've already gone through the teething troubles with SHPS, and we already have members frequenting the showings. Also, you have to remember that the poll was done on the general board, not in the IRC, so it gave a good idea of the active spread of the members you are trying to reach.

I'm just saying, with a little more communication, it would have been easier to hit the ground running. We didn't have the rest of modliness to contend with when we set up SHPS in the IRC, so we were able to focus a little more on the details and such.

I can't promise i'll make it every week but i'm on board for this and have no problem with how the timing works out for the UK.
