Ok, so I finally did it - I watched the first episode of Firefly.
It was...ok...I guess...I'm honestly not too sure how I feel and I'll have to continue watching to figure that out.
It started out a little shaky; my attention kept wandering, I was checking my phone and drifting off in my own head. But that eventually passed and I told myself I had to give it a real shot. It pulled me in a bit around the time of Mal and Gina Torres (can't remember her character name right now) realizing that they had been hired to steal medicine for sick, innocent people. That made it more interesting to me, got me a bit more invested. It also started to make me laugh, which certainly didn't hurt.
The thing is, my issue with it and what I like about it is the same; it doesn't feel like a Whedon project (yet). Part of me feels weird about that since I can always tell when something is Whedon, whether by the script-language, familiar story themes or other things. On the other hand, it's nice to know that he can branch out and not make just another of the same recipe he's used since creating Buffy. Of course, I may be wrong, guess we'll see.

- I finally get the reference from @Bluebird 's caption, about hands of blue! That's been killing me 😀
- I lowkey hate the character played by Angel's Marcus Hamilton (I'm one episode in, I can't already remember all character names!)
- I'm intrigued by River (I have very few spoilers about her, thank god)
- I feel like there are too many characters and can't find it in me to care about the prostitute (or whatever her official title is) the Shepherd dude, or the chick played by Jewel Staite.
- I love Alan Tudyk!
- I love Nathan Fillion!
- I'm only watching it now so I can watch Con Man, but we'll see if that changes the farther I get into the show 😉
