"Be My Deputy" what the heck?

What the heck was Willow and Xander spazzing out over this "Be My Deputy" crap how does Xander go from talking about Cordy running for homecoming queen to Willow spazzing out with "be my deputy" what??

Xander and Willow have been close for a very long time, and as they were reminissing (i hope thats how you spell reminissing) about some old time they had together, some old funny thing came up that they were referencing.

Yeah, it was just done to show that Buffy was becoming a bit isolated and felt a bit apart from the rest of the group. They just had an inside joke that Buffy (and we, the audience, by extension) didn't get. Because the goal is for us to feel sympathetic to Buffy in that situation, we don't get the joke either.

Exactly. We weren't meant to get it, cause it was an inside joke between Willow and Xander. We were supposed to feel left out along with Buffy.

I could swear that, in that scene, the audio was off somehow. I recollect a disconnect between Alyson's line and her mouth moving, plus the audio level was weirdly higher. Perhaps they retouched the line in ADR later. I dunno. Maybe I misremember that scene.

Yes! I crack up laughing every time I watch that scene. The way Alyson delivered that line was hysterical.
