I haven't been here in 10 years, but was reminded of it last night (there was a news story about Tom Petty's friends and family holding a memorial there).

I'd forgotten how absolutely BEAUTIFUL it is there! You drive out Sunset Blvd, towards the beach...the temple is located about half a mile from the water. This place is amazingly tranquil and soothing. (I just discovered they conduct marriage ceremonies as well. All I need is a groom! lol)

Look beautiful. I remember when I barely had any money at all (and all in my pocket), but I so loved the Portland Japanese Gardens (in autumn, so so colorful!) that I donated about half of what I had (which I believe was $5, but considering the circumstances, that was a lot for me, and a testament at how awed I was, and how I even found it sacred somehow).
 
I used to drive out there a lot. But I won't drive in LA anymore, because it's just too crowded and crazy. (Like my knickers...? Har har)

But seriously, that place is just SO amazing. If there's a Heaven, that's what I'd imagine it would be like. 🙂
 
There's a Benedictine Abbey not far from me that does retreats, I haven't been on one but I have been there and it's so peaceful. It's in the middle of the countryside, and it's just fields for miles around, apart from the sheep that are in one of the fields!
 
There's something to be said for quiet, secluded places. I think being around nature is REALLY healthy for us. Being someplace where the only thing you hear is the wind blowing through the trees....
 
Amazing! Places like this are so peaceful and too far and few between. We should all have the right as humans to enjoy natural spaces like this. Eastern garden spaces are stunning over east too. Personally, I dont need the perks, but Im used to peeing in the bush and bathing in the ocean.

I met a couple travelling through here (town) the other day, they were in awe that a place like this exists, as where they came from, there are towns every 7 miles. They compared my state to a dry Alaska. I'd love to get my garden looking this good, but the weeds are currently winning! The pond is full but on a much smaller scale obviously!
