Beauty Products

The last product I have bought is this.

And I love it!

I'm with Cait, I adore makeup. 🙂 I love buying new products to try and enjoy getting all dolled up for a night out. I don't wear a full face of makeup everyday; but most days I do wear some. In fact I spend entirely too much time and money on makeup, I'm a sucker for Benefit (my favorite makeup brand), Mac (only their eyeshadows, brushes) and Clinique skin care products.

My favorite Benefit products are Erase paste and CORALista. Also I love lipstick. I tend to gravitate to coral shades since they work really well with my skin tone.

I have to echo Cait and Brinkster on this: during the day I only wear under eye concealer and a little bit of upper liner but at night I like to do more. 🙂 I'm always in search of the "perfect product" but then I rarely use it because I don't want to be bothered wearing too much. It's ridiculous, I know.

I just fell in love with Tarte. You guys should check them out. Their cheek/lip stains are fantastic, and their gel eye liner is perfect. Most importantly, they don't test on animals and are more on the "natural" side than lots of other companies.

ohh I love Tarte too! :D I am not vegan but I love that they have vegan friendly products.
If you like Chapstick, you should try the Burts Bees lipglosses/balms. 🙂 They are awesome!
I love Burt's Bees Super Shiny Natural Gloss- Juicy Peach is my favorite.

I quit wearing after I had my daughter, but when I do give in it's black kohl eyeliner and lipgloss (reddish-brown). I don't even know what to do for cover-up now that my skin's changed🙁 plus, i'm super-freaked by some of the weird crap in make up, but that's a whole other issue😛

Isn't it weird how your skin & hair changes? When I was in high school I (& every other teenage girl!) would have died for some curl in my hair (this was back in the 80s kids, so think curling iron, big bangs, etc). Now after having kids, straight hair is in and I have to struggle with frizz! I did start using a straightening iron this year- helps a lot!

Anyway, I use mostly drugstore products as I think they're pretty much the same as the pricier department store brands (made by the same companies, a lot of the same products just different packaging). Paula Begoun is my go-to website for info: http://www.cosmeticscop.com/. She even has an iPhone app to check on products (Beautypedia). I try to use SPF everyday. When I work it's in my foundation (I have oily skin so I try not to use a separate SPF), during the summer I dont' always use foundation everyday but I do use SPF everyday. Other than that: eyeliner, CoverGirl mascara, and lip gloss/lipstick. I do the full eyeshadow thing if I'm going on a date with my hubby or for special occasions. On weekends or during the summer if I'm just hangin' at home I don't usually wear makeup.

Thanks for that info, I'm always looking for more natural products, but I'm not always impressed by them.

Oh yeah, I've been very impressed with Tarte. I'm super picky about cosmetics--if they don't work well once I don't give them another chance!
It's time for a man to post. 🙂

For face soap, I use Anthony Logistics face soap. It's great stuff.

When I shave I an old fashion Double Edge razor, with a shaving brush and soap. This is one of my favorites: George Trumper Coconut shaving soap (I actually have about 8 soaps that I rotate)

For Aftershave (the scent doesn't last), I use this wonderful aftershave from Italy:

I have about 10+ colognes, but when I really want to knock them dead, this is what I wear:

I haven't really worn makeup in forever but I at least try to use eyeliner. I don't really like foundation. I also use lip gloss/chapstick.
I used to wear a lot of makeup like the eye shadow think Effy from Skins dark like that.

I am super pale and naturally blonde, so I never leave the house without mascara and a cheek and lip stain. I prefer berry/pink colors for lips and cheeks. I'm using some covergirl berry stain now and I love it. If I'm supertired, I will use foundation in a light porcelain-maybelline I think.

I love Burts chapstick. I wear it daily. And sunscreen. I need at least a 30 to not burn. I like Hawaiian Tropics because it smells nice.

I like Bio Silk hair products.

I have dark hair and eyes, and I guess I'm more the "natural" type anyway, so I don't use all that much make-up unless I go out. There are a few things that I couldn't live without though, one of them is "agnés b fidelity base", a complexion enhancer/primer kind of thing which basically works like a colourless foundation. It's not too cheap and I have to order it online, but since I moved away from the countryside I have quite problematic skin, so I can't use any of the normal brands anymore 🙁

Other than that, I use a hypoallergenic mascara and blusher from agnes b, and I have a range of eye shadows and eyeliners from Victoria Jackson which my friend gave me for my birthday but which I only ever use when I go out.

I'm quite picky when it comes to cosmetics and I would never buy a brand that tests their products on animals. I recommend this site if you want to check out some brands' cruelty-free policy. I was quite crushed when I recently found The Body Shop on their list of companies to boycott, because I love their products and I always believed their claims of being animal-testing free. I'll use up what's left of my TBS stuff, but I'm not gonna shop there again until they do something about it.

Good for you! I also try to be cruelty-free, although it's much easier being a man. :)

Well that's interesting, and too bad! Do you have a link to companies and products that truly are cruelty-free?

Personally, I can't go without Maybelline's Dream Smooth foundation, and Cover Girl has this concealer I love. I don't sleep well, so I always have purple under my eyes, and that stuff makes it go away so easily! I'm super pale too, so I use their Ivory foundation, and it's perfect. I love it so much that now my mom uses the same thing after seeing it on me!

Personally, I really love Estee Lauder's eyeshadow. It's amazing. They have these, for lack of a better word, cases that have like 24 shades. I'd recommend those. I love Avon's lipstick/lipgloss as well, and they have AMAZING perfume. My favorite perfume, they don't make any more. 🙁 But I still have some!

I do! Try this one: http://www.gocrueltyfree.org/

It's from a UK organisation, so you might not know all of the brands, but most of them are international anyway. If you google "cruelty free shopping" it should come up with a US equivalent anyhow.

They list Body Shop as a cruelty-free company, but they were recently bought by L'Oreal, which has yet to be approved. I'm waiting for that to happen and hope I don't run out of shower gel until then, lol. It's so hard to find products that are hypoallergenic AND organic AND animal-friendly 🙁

The product I could not live without is Nivea Visage Young Skin tonic!

If I don't put some on my face, I feel like crap, wether I go out or not. It keeps my skin soft and clear (and it kinda wakes up my face 😀)

As for make up, I only started using it this year. I keep it so light people don't even notice when I wear some (unless I've applied it badly in my hurry).
When I wear make up for school, I put concealer (because I have circles so big I look like a panda bear), some eye....pencil? (don't know what's the exact word, but it's not eye-liner 😀), some mascara, and chapstick.
Recently for school I had to make some photoshoots, kinda fashion/burlesque so I wore much more make-up. It was nice, but I'm not sure I'm ready to go out like this. Once after a photoshoot I went to the Macdonald and well, I felt like Lady Gaga with my bright pink lipstick, my bright pink eyeshadow and my bright pink bow in the hair.

I wish I could pull smokey eyes look, but I kinda look like a prostitute when I try that make up. Too bad, otherwise I would always go out like that!

Anyone can pull off smokey eyes. 🙂 You don't have to do black/grey... You can do gold/copper for a good summer look. Try this:

Get it in the Bronze Fire shade and you can't mess it up. It blends like a dream!

I adore Covergirl's shadow blasts! I like the blue one the best.
