Can a person be sired against their will? We've never actually seen that many people sired on either show, and when they were, it always seemed to be an act of free will. It would seem to me, though, that if someone were drained almost to the point of death, then had vampire blood forced into their mouth, the act of swallowing would be more or less reflexive, resulting in a new vamp.
 
I always thought Darla was forced into being a vamp the second time around. Angel had just convinced her of staying human and dying when W&H sent Drusilla to resire her. Maybe I got it wrong but to me it looked like she didn't want to get bitten.
 
There's no logical contradiction to the theory so why not?
I don't think that many newbies slain by Buffy were willing to become vampires...
 
Personally the only person I thought wanted to be bitten was Billy 'Ford' Fordham. Even Angel seemed reluctant until Darla shoved his face into her cleavage.
 
I think Angel and Spike (for example) didn't actually know what they were getting into. I didn't hear them say, "Sure! I'd like to become a blood-sucking creature of the night!" Of course, Spike didn't exactly stop Dru even after seeing her face (Angel had his eyes closed).

I don't think Harmony, for instance, wanted to be a vampire, either. I don't think she was tricked, either; it seemed more that she was forced.
 
^ I don't think it's really possible for most people to give any sort of informed consent, anyway. I mean, a Scooby has a decent understanding of what it means to be a vampire. The average Joe, when faced with a real vampire for the first time, will probably have to rationalize it as a trick of the light or a gross deformity or just anything other than a real-life fairy tale monster. I think all newbies have to be tricked or forced in some manner, even if it's just by their own brains, except in rare cases (like if one of the Scoobies, a watcher, or a slayer was turned).

EDIT:
I mean, I'm a Buffy fan, but I don't believe in vampires. If I were confronted with a real-life vampire in the Buffyverse model, I would probably rationalize it away as some sort of extreme fan prank or something, you know? I imagine I'd be dead or turned before I managed to wrap my brain around the fact that it was real.
 
Angel explained this in the episode where Drusilla snatched the resurrected Darla. He said something about trying not to drink but you can't resist it.
 
Of course they can be forced... I mean you're drained to dying point then shoved towards some blood... in your weakened to the point of passing out and dying state, you're not in any condition to make decisions- you just drink because the blood has been shoved towards you.

I hear people mentioning Angelus' siring, and Drusilla siring Spike and Darla. But doesn't anybody remember how Drusilla was turned? If that isn't proof you can be turned without wanting to I don't know what is.
 
Slightly OT but I've always thought that siring was like a figurative act of rape. I actually think the vampires find it a pleasurable act in itself which would explain why there are so many baby vamps being left to be killed.
