Becoming: Part 2 - Interesting Facts

It could be that the Mayor and Snyder were skewing facts to neutralize Buffy, regardless of what Xander may or may not have sad.

Or it could be sloppy writing.

This (and part 1) is my 2nd favorite episode. Full of horror, comedy, and brilliant drama in about equal measures. Some nice special effects, too.

The reason it is not my favorite episode comes down to one point: Dru's "hypnotic" powers which she used to kill Kendra. I call BS. If she had this power, why did she not use it against Buffy??

Probably because of Angelus. He wanted to kill Buffy, that was his wish, Spike and Dru just wanted to destroy the world, so Angelus told Dru he want's Buffy for himself. I mean, that was the whole point, Angelus wanted to destroy Buffy so it would be out of story if Dru did that. Also, Buffy learned to how to fight Masters powers, who said Dru could take her down.

Becoming Part 2 -Interesting Facts

TPTB wouldn't let me give you rep Princess Buffy or I would have given you some. That has been my thought process as well when I have watched Becoming Part 1 lately. Boy wouldn't that make a good plot to set up Spike and Dru and defeat Acathla and have Angel come out the hero. Then they would call it Enemies.

Becoming: Part 1 wasn't a bad episode, but Part 2 blows it out of the water.

My favorite quotes from the episode are when Buffy confronts Spike and they're trying to decide if they should work together. Spike's "Happy Meals With Legs" Speech is great and I've always loved this quote from Buffy:

"...The whole earth may be sucked into Hell, and you want my help 'cause your girlfriend's a big ho? Well, let me take this opportunity to not care."

The line itself doesn't sound like much, but SMG's delivery always makes me laugh. I don't know why.

The interaction between Spike & Buffy (which we just don't see enough of in season 2 IMO), is wonderful. A definite sign of what's to come.

I love your banner! :)
It's a great episode but i really really hate the End.
Sadness is okay, but this is just too much. The writers overdone it with the curse hitting at the very last moment and the leaving town thing. Just too sad.
Best moment: Joyce and Spike sitting in the living room.

mmm...the only thing i'd agree with is that leaving the curse to the very last moment was dramatic. but i never took it in a bad way. it just made it all the more heart breaking. everything else didn't feel over-done to me because it all made sense in its own right. buffy being expelled totally made sense (seeing how much she was involved in and that snyder had it out for her anyway.) Her being kicked out of her home totally made sense cos it was said in a fight and there was no time to take it back.
i think that she left sunnydale afterwards was totally in line with her character. the one thing that's always annoyed me about buffy was this 'i'm on my own. this is my thing. no one can help me. i'll just put them in danger' business she had going right until the end. it got a bit frustrating imo

"Hello Cutie..."

Seeing the interaction between Spike and Buffy here it's no wonder FF writers use it as a common starting point for their stories.

Buffy looking at Angelus as Spike stands up makes me all goose-pimply.

Why didn't Xander tell the cops that Buffy wasn't responsible for Kendra's death?

I'm gonna agree with PrincessBuffy and say that he probably would have had a hard time explaining what had happened but also, even if he had tried or if he did tell them, I don't think they would have crossed Buffy off the suspect list just because of the word of a teenager.

Especially with her running away and all, as an investigator most people would think that to be suspicious behavior.

This by far my favourite episode, and its also the first episode where spike is an ally to buffy, he eventually becomes a full time ally in Season 5 where he falls in love with buffy. Also, here is the full list of music in both parts of the episode:

# Christophe Beck - "As Angel Becomes"
# Christophe Beck - "Cursed"
# Christophe Beck - "Devil Child"
# Christophe Beck - "Massacre"
# Christophe Beck - "Show Me Your World"
# Thomas Aquinas - "Pange Lingua" (Eucharist hymn)
# Christophe Beck - "Close Your Eyes"
# Christophe Beck - "Vision Of Jenny"
# Christophe Beck - "Waking Willow"
# Sarah McLachlan - "Full of Grace"

I feel like this might have been the realest the show as ever gotten with the cops and how her mom reacts to everything. Let's face it, if you're spending your nights killing demons in a town where people are dying all the time, the police are going to get involved, you're not going to be doing well in school, and people will die. I think the show needed to get to a point where the poo hit the fan. Buffy may have been the slayer but she was still a typical 17y/o girl and those things don't mesh well.

Awesome ep.
