Finally this pilot has been made into a show 🙂 It starts Sunday at 9pm which clashes with Lost returning at the same time, but don't dispare as BBCiPlayer will have the catch up so you can watch Being Human anytime you like after it has aired 🙂

I can't WAIT for this, especially as it's in BRISTOL!!!! Actually, it looks like where I used to live, so like with Teachers and Skins, I can street spot all the way through 🙂

The one off last year had great reviews (or so I've been informed by Hubby, who works for the Beeb)
 
Aww i don't get BBC 3 🙁 boooo,might try it on iplayer but that buffers really slowly.
 
my mum went on and on about the pilot of this (tho she thought it was a one off... so it took time to tell her over and over about pilots) i figured id watch it if it got picked up, ill give it a go.
 
It looks interesting, so of course we'll never get a chance to see it over here, unless maybe it winds up on Hulu or some similar site. Or maybe it'll be such a big success that they'll show it here on one of the premium cable channels.
 
Looks like it could be fun, but as I don't have BBC3, and can't use I Player, what with me not living in the UK or Ireland, I will have to wait. I want to try it, at least.
 
I'm looking forward to this...the pilot showed promise.
 
I just watched the firrst episode.

I don't know if I liked it.

It had an odd footing to be honest. iPlayer and the first half was kinda sitcom then it turned into this gothic drama but for the first episode it didn't work as either.

Its like the show has been made and their going to do a poll on which genre we'd prefer.

We'll see what the next episode is like.
 
Just watched the first episode on iplayer and thought that it showed a lot of promise. It was a bit slow paced but that's to be expected in what was pretty much a new pilot. Hopefully tonight's second outing will move the story forward a little.
Not sure where you got the sitcom tag from EB, I found it pretty Gothic all the way through, maybe it's just your sense of humour. Or mine!

It sounds almost like a decription you'd hear on South Park about a TV show.

We're first introduced to the characters and thats ok, but then it turns into a sitcom regarding these three characters and the mishaps they get into at the house - the scene with the ex-boyfriend was silly and the scene in the woods was very sitcom, it was just missing the BBC's overused canned laughter track.

Then, when the policeman (Herrick(?)) stepped in and made it clear what his role in the show was, it took a sinister turn.

I didn't like how it just felt shoved together. I feel this show has far more potential as a dark, gothic show, than a 'comedy-drama'.
 
Not wildly keen on the second episode. Mainly, I think, because of the lack of humour.
Don't much like the Beebs comedy-drama description, but that's just a label, and we should see beyond that shouldn't we? 🙂
I think that a good drama needs a touch of humour to temper the dark scenes, after all BTVS had it's share of comedy and that's part of what made it a great series. It's simply a matter of degree, the major emphasis should be the drama, but there should be a levening of humour.

Are you kidding?
The second episode was infinitely better.
Firstly though, the 'label'.
The BBC make and distribute the show, if they label it incorrectly then that means they either don't pay attention to it, they have no clue about it or they don't actually care about it.
But the thing is, the description for the first episode was accurate.

Buffy has comic elements BUT you wouldn't really class the show as a comedy show.
Another thing, Buffy managed to successfully intermingle the two genres - I don't think the first episode of Being Human did.

It felt clunky.

Now, the second episode, the humour was there but a bit more sedate, however the overarching feel and the story that is boiling away just under the surface is extremely appealing.

I really have no issues with the second episode, on the contrary, if it sticks to this level then this could quite easily be one of the best NEW shows the BBC has brought out this decade.

I agree, but I'm prepared to give it time, even though it only has 6 episodes

I guess it's just different strokes for different folks, although I do love Dean Lennox Kelly.

Let's wait and see what the next episode brings

The point is, the BBC is trying to tell us its a comedy and the first episode tried to be a sitcom.

I don't get this.
Internet doesn't allow tone, but the wording is suggesting that I haven't, when quite clearly I have given it a chance and think the second episode is great.
In fact I was positive enough to suggest IF it stays at the level of episode 2 it could be one of the best BBC shows of recent years.

I do prefer 6 episodes to 22, less likely to have several rubbish ones.

IF we take the second episode as the way forward and go back to the first one, then the gothic nature now works and is very appealing - its just the comedic aspect that doesn't sit with me.

Dean was fun, though I knew who he was as soon as he confirmed his wolf status. I think it would be a shame if we don't see him again.
