Being Human - BBC3 UK

I officially love this show.
Lenora Critchlow is super sexy.
Aiden Turner is unbelievably hot.
Russell Tovey has a personality!

Seriously, except for the lame first episode, I love this show!

The last 3 episodes have been tremendous, 3 and 4 particularly. I think they've got the drama/comedy quota just about right now and yes Lenora is stunning. So it's Gothic enought for now then EB?

Can't wait for the final episode! Although in the current climate I wonder if they'll be a second series?

I know - I love the whole 'Invasion' storyline and the characters are so good.

I rewatched the first episode to see if I was being biased in my opinion based on my dislike of the write up and judged it based on my enjoyment of the last 4 episodes, but still, I don't think it was a great pilot because it tried to be a Comedy AND Drama.
Now its a Gothic Drama with funny moments.

I'm hoping they get a second series because it definitely warrants one.

I've liked Lenora in all three things I have seen her in.
This, Doctor Who and Sugar Rush - hot!
 
I don't care for the ongoing vampire plotline. I can't help feeling it was done infinitely better by Ultraviolet. And as good as Ultraviolet was - very good indeed - Being Human really shines when it's comfortable in it's own strengths. It's very good at being funny and sweet about the practicalities of er... unconventional lifestyles, but less good handling the darker, more dramatic bits without jarring.

George and Annie are great characters - Mitchell notably less so.

To be fair, I typed that up before seeing the end of the last episode, so I take some of it back

That said...

Not to press a point, but Ultraviolet had a fairly realistic - and not to be cliché - gritty take on modern, white-collar vampires, and it was superb. But it was a pretty grim thing - vampires were secretly running the world, and liked killing people horribly, and the show didn't shy away from how nightmarish that idea is. Being Human can't quite commit to that grimness without losing the heart and the humour I enjoy most about it, and I don't think it's always been adept at moving from a bit about George's lovelife to yet another bit about somebody making vague doomy threats to Mitchell. I just don't think their take on vampires is novel or interesting enough to justify the amount of plot-time invested in them. It's not bad, don't get me wrong, I just don't think it's strong enough to hang the series around. And whatsherface, Mitchell's girlfriend, she's incredibly annoying.

I kind of agree with this in the sense that it has a final step to take - however I do think that the last episode aired pushed that step and the final episode could be amazing

I don't disagree that Ultraviolet did a good job, but I think that the 'Vampire Invasion' was a great subplot, handled quite well, while they characters were properly introduced.
I liked that it was just a 'thing' happening on the periphery of the episodes while the two chaps HAD normal lives and the girl was trying to move on - it was quite interesting and a fun take while allowing this darker edge to seep into the episode for more and more screen time.

Like Nix, the ending of that last episode had me aching for more - I was actuaslly shouting at my laptop.

This is my favourite new show on TV at the moment!

I have to say 'YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!'

I am watching the last episode now!

I think this announcement was saved until tonights episode because of the cliffhanger ending last week.
 
I've been catching up with this over the last week on iplayer, and I LOVE it. My new favourite show. It was a bit slow to start with, but by the time I watched the third episode I was well and truly hooked.

I wasn't convinced about the vampire storyline in the early episodes, and Lauren was very annoying, but the last episode tied it all together really well.

I loved the ongoing storyline with Owen and Annie, glad he got his comeuppance! The George/Nina storyline also interested me, and that scene with her in the bathroom at the end was a shock. I'm guessing that's one SL that will carry over to next series.

Also... wonder who that old guy was at the end, and just who was he calling? So glad there's going to be more at some point.
