Being Into Middle-Aged People Is Probably a Sexual Orientation

"One of Seto’s biggest contributions to this field, so far, has been to argue that pedophilia should be considered a sexual orientation. It’s vital to point out that categorizing something as a sexual orientation does not mean that acting on it is morally acceptable. When the subject of expanding the boundaries of sexual orientation comes up, people tend to draw sloppy analogies between pedophilia and homosexuality, for example, arguing that lumping them together under the rubric of sexual orientation either excuses pedophilia or kneecaps moral arguments for gay rights. But what matters is whether the pursuit of sexual gratification harms other people — pedophilia does, homosexuality doesn’t. It’s worth a bit of confusion here for the key insight that this model provides: In all these cases, despite how morally different they are, the preferences in question weren’t chosen and can’t be altered (except in rare cases where they seem to shift over the course of a lifespan for reasons no one can fully explain)."

This is the reason the two should not be put in the same category. Too many idiots will just use this as a way to demonify homosexuality.

Funny, I didn't see you as you went by. And I'm sure I would have remembered a boob flasha.

Exhabitionist just doesnt have the same ring. And is it really a sexual orientaion when boobs jump out? Mind of there own, i tell ya. ;)
So, there you go, none of this Angel is a pedophile nonsense from now on.

He (and Spike) are Ephebophiles!

Also the list missed out necrophilia- creepy but doesn't technically harm other people.

Spike would actually be a teleiophile, Buffy was 19/20 before he showed an interest. Angel is a Ephebophile verging on teleiophile because Buffy was 16 when he started hanging out with her in a romantic way. Buffy would technically be a necrophiliac.

I do! Some days ya crave the muff, i just choose not to act on it. So does the term still apply?

I'm wondering how much is appearance and how much is behavior. For example, would an ephebophiliac (older teens, still minors) prefer one who looked, and may even be, 16 but had a job (and even baby) acting (and dressing) like a responsible adult over someone 21 who looked her age but still acted (and dressed) like a 16 year old? ('Course I expect they prefer a "certain type" to go with the age, too.)

(I have read that in SOME cases of child molesters, the molester sees him or herself as "that age on the inside." Like the female teachers that get their credentials and then get into the grade that they feel like they belong in, that is she "feels 15 on the inside, so is attracted to 15-year-old boys," I guess like they eat too much band candy, and I wonder if such a person could connect with someone her own age if he was "also 15 on the inside." I also vaguely recall reading of a man who molested much younger children who said he felt like he was the same age as his victims "on the inside." Again, this isn't always the case.)

There are other things people can go nuts for as well, from various races to habits (like smoking). Thing is, it's not the aesthetic that draws them (or repels them in some cases), but what they associate with the look (that is, what they imagine the person is like, which is pretty detailed based on a trivial aspect they see), and that can be very frustrating to them as well. They can consciously know the association is not guaranteed (though some really don't get it), but even then their subconscious or instincts just can't make that distinction. I wonder, how many of them can get what they want "in a different package"? Or is it they need the full package (both the desired traits AND the look they associate with it) to be satisfied?

While it doesn't necessarily answer the question for most of them, I've known more than one woman frustrated because they went for "big, beefy guys" thinking they were alpha males and dominant who would "be the man." But a big bear of a guy generally doesn't need to be that way, and can quickly tire of people acting intimidated, and being decent they don't women they care about would act out of fear or intimidation either. And this frustrates them, and even realizing that going for a smaller guy would be more likely to get them what they want, they can't shake the image, so they're about likely to endure a lot of frustration, unless they know exactly where to look.

(Btw, I know a scary looking guy, looks like a long hair biker who obviously works out with bulging muscles and I was actually prepared to stab him and run the first time I saw him coming toward me on a lonely beach. He turned out to be an incredibly sweet, compassionate guy who was used to people being scared of him, and he also told me it that as annoying it could be to have to change direction so as to not scare the woman he was walking behind as he was obviously doing, it annoyed him even more when some woman came on to him obviously thinking he'd abuse and/or dominate her as she wanted him to the point he would no longer date women he didn't already know well.)

Nothing has been said of the girl who goes for a mornings run and flashes all three of her boobs

But JM stated that he played Spike being sexually attracted to Buffy from that very first moment- in S2 she was still 16/17- so he still applies I think.

And Willow had that whole Zoophile phase where she was luvin' the snake-demon.

honestophilia...when you admit that you're attracted to someone, even when it's going to make someone say "ewww"
Do we know how old Kennedy was when she moved to Sunnydale?
From the shooting script:

They are MOLLY, ANNABELLE AND KENNEDY. And they are all potential Slayers.

MOLLY, 14 or 15, is a Brit of East Indian heritage. She's cute, pudgy.

Her style is very "Ghost World." Pigtails and a miniskirt, ripped stockings, a lunch box for a purse...

ANNABELLE, 16, is a sleek, athletic upper-class Brit. She's a bit of a snob. Very into her training, a tad humorless.

KENNEDY, 19, the oldest of the bunch. She's tough and wry - takes all the mysticism associated with the Slayer gig with a serious grain of salt.
