"Believe In Something."

Did the idea occur to anyone but me that Book just MIGHT have been the Believer from a past generation? What makes me think this is that it would explain the scene in the series where he was wounded and the military guy, at one glance at Book's I D gave orders that he was to be treated immediately. If he was a previous Believer, he might have still had that kind of authority, though he become disillusioned at some point with his mission
and turned to religion for consolation. On at least one occasion, he seemed to show weapons expertise, and having him have that sort of sordid past s the kind of thing Joss just loves to pull on his fans...

I don't know. What's a "Believer"? Is that a Firefly term I missed?

I know a lot of people have put forward the theory Book might have been an agent for Alliance at one time.

The guy who was chasing River and her brother in "Serenity" was called a Believer in the credits. Sorry for the lack of explanation and the dragging out of an old topic , this is my first post in this section.
