I'm sure through the years there has been a billion threads just liked this one, but I haven't seen one. So, the question is what are the best acting scenes. Not necessary your favorite scenes, funniest, or anything like that, but pure acting chops.

1. Obviously SMG in the Body
2. SMG when she is telling her mom about her being a slayer, it could of easily sounded corny and cheesy, but she made it sincere. Actually that whole episode she was amazing. When she is yelling at Spike and she says "because your girlfriends a big ho" she just delivered that scene awesomely.
3. Oddly, when Spike is trying to rape Buffy, both of them were on their A game
4. When ever Allyson cries. Her tears always feel so real and they make you just want to hug her.
5. James Marsters in Fool For Love, especially when Buffy tell him that he is beneath her.
6. When Giles is angry or sad.

I'm sure there are others, but these are coming to mind.

I agree with your choices everyone was amazing in The Body, the attempted rape was incredible acting by both of them and Aly tearing up is heartbreaking!

I loved Sarah in Earshot, I thought she was amazing in that episode.

And pretty much anything Seth Green did, It always felt like he was just Oz, it just seemed so natural!

Just watched it today: SMG and Marsters in the final scene of "Beneath You;" SMG's tears are real, the millisecond when Buffy realizes that Spike has gotten his soul back, and for her he did it, there's this barely perceptable shift in her face.....heartbreaking. Brilliant acting.

James Marsters knocked it out of the park in Beneath You. Also, he was great at being crazy in general. He really pulled off a lot of things that could have easily been cheesy.

SMG with the "I don't want to die" scene. My heart always breaks for Buffy.

I'm having trouble picking more! The whole series was well-acted in general.

SMG in The Body, Surprise, Innocence, When She Was Bad, Amends...SMG in pretty much every episode lol

Willow in all the episodes, especially season 6.

Yeah, like Chloe Queen said...too many to list 😀

Obviously The Body for me. SMG's performance, as well as Emma's, Michelle's, and Aly's always break my heart...
The scene in the alley after Giles tries to kill Angelus for what he did to Jenny is amazing... ASH is incredible.
Nick's and Aly's performances in the end of "Grave". That moment was so beautiful, and the two of them have such amazing chemistry.
James' performance in "Beneath You" gives me chills... He's so tortured and it's amazing to watch.
David's and SMG's performances in "I Will Remember You". Their sadness and grief in that final minute is heartwrenching!
Seth's and Aly's performance in the end of "New Moon Rising". WOW that one makes me sob like a little girl!

ANYTHING ASH does is pretty freaking amazing, but then, he's had a ton of experience. Also agree with the scene when he goes after Angel, but mostly the break down he has after.

The scene where in Helpless, where he argues with Quentin and then after tends to Buffy's wounds. Such a moving moment.

I thought Nicholas Brendon was great in The Pack.

and SMG was great as Buffy Bot.

she's a terrific robot :D
I love all the ones mentioned so far, but I think my favorite is SMG crying on the bed in Innocence. Breaks my heart each time. :-(

That is a good scene. When she takes the cross and just lays on the bed and cry :(

Yeah, that one is pretty tough to swallow. Even my hubby got a little misty-eyed over that scene.

I Only Have Eyes For You is really brilliant, it's one of my favorite episodes. I can see why Joss realized during DB's performance he'd be good on his own show. Both SMG and DB did wonderfully.

For Sarah...

"The Body" and "Normal Again" are some of my favourites episodes which also show her great capability as an actress.
In "Innocence" where she really cries, in IWRY where she also really cries( that girl can play sadness really well).
Also in the first scene of "The Gift", she has that melancholic face when that boy tells her that she is just a girl.
In Becoming where Buffy has to show courage despite the very difficult moments she is going through(Angelus, police and false accusations, her mom kicking her out of the house, Will in the hospital...), she is practically alone and still standing. She made me feel how she feels.
In "Passion" when she hugs Giles and they both cry(ending fight scene).
Also in "who are you" she was more than convincing as Faith.
In "Bring on the night" she does an inspiring and amazing talk to the potentials in the final scene. She puts the fighting back on track.

In "Beneath you" the church scene was played greatly by both Sarah and James.

For Eliza...

"Five by Five" and "Sanctuary" never fail to amaze me. Also in Ats season 4, she brought a nice kick ass tone against Angelus.

For David...
David has amazed me in season 3 of AtS when he loses his son all of a sudden by Holtz. Noone expects it and Holtz chooses Quor Toth instead of killing him. Angel falling to the ground and afterwards when he tries to kill Wes have been,IMO,some of the most powerful scenes ever. In "Spin the bottle" he was nice as Liam who finds out he is a vampire! Also in IOHEFY both Sarah and David were great as James and Grace!

And last but not least, Alyson is ALWAYS terrific, but when she and Nicholas did that "i love you" scene in "Grave" I can't stop crying. Amazingly emotional performance!

Also in "You're welcome" when the phone rings and Angel discovers the truth about Cordy...David is actually crying there,he is really emotional.

good choices, E :)
I agree with pretty much everything mentioned so far, so I'll limit myself to a scene that hasn't been mentioned yet:

At the end of Becoming, after Buffy has to send Angel to hell. After he disappears, she looks kind of shocked and uncomprehending for a few moments, and then you can see her just fall apart. It's nothing short of heartbreaking. Some of SMG's best work, without any dialogue at all.

perfect scene for sure!!!Her face expression evolve from shock and disbelief to utter despair!
Oh how could I forget...SMG looking in the mirror as Faith in Buffy's body in "Five by Five." When she says "That's wrong...." she's playing Eliza playing Buffy, it's brilliant, and it's also a huge commentary on women's body image issues as Faith-in-Buffy's-body examines herself, plays with her nose. Excellent acting.

It's "Who Are You", not Five by Five :)
I think Alexis had a load of fantastic scenes over the years. His transformation in season 3 and 4, and basically everything he done in Shells blew me away.

I agree... When we first saw Alexis, he was this bumbling, goofy shadow of a man. Over the years on Angel he transformed into someone completely different and he did it soooo easily. If you don't think about it, you wouldn't think "Dude that guy's got acting chops to be able to play both types of characters so easily" but he really does.

I can't believe no ones mentioned Amy and Alexis in 'A Hole in the World' and then again in 'Not Fade Away' I am a grown ass man and I had tears running down my cheeks in both.

Amy in particular in Hole was absolutely amazing.

Hell yes. Thinking about it gets to me.
The scene that comes to mind for me in Angel is when Wesley steal Connor and in the hospital Angel goes from calm and caring to trying to kill his friend... Wow the first time I saw that, I didn't expect it at ALL. And then Angel yelling at him he's a dead man. Both shocking and amazing job by DB.

As for the scene that comes to mind from Buffy... I'd have to agree with some that have already been talked about. Willow and Alex at the end of Grave is really sad =( And so is Buffy and Giles in Passion. But as for mine it would be SMG when Buffy discovers Giles was 'poisoning' her in Helpless. All the emotional scenes between Buff and Giles are always touching though!

Agreed. I watched (stupidly) S4->S5->S1-3. I knew Wesley "went bad," but I had no idea exactly how it went down. I was also shocked.
