Best Album of all time, ever

Similar vein to the S Club best Album thread of Shadowcay I wondered what album in general people consider to be the greatest of ALL time.

I think that Thriller is easily up there. The songs are Jacko at his best, it has some amazing lyrics and has not aged at all.

Having said that, I will sat my favourite Album is The Beatles White Album, it is an amazing piece BUT it has a special place in my heart because not only do I have an original first pressing BUT it is signed by the Fab Four.

a very close second is pearljams lost dogs. (their unrealeased worst of)

Vedders voice and the whole crews lyrics pull me in. That band grew up with me and their my musical load stone. I allways go back to them and those two double disc sets are a soundtrack for me...in sorted sorts, sort of.

Shadowcay - your comment reminds me of a great quote from Alan Partridge quote:

Relic agrees: Is the obvious always commedy? The best classics jokes I've heard took awhile to get. tasters choice i guess, but i did not see the funny.

You have obviously never sat down to Alan Partridge.

He is anything but obvious and that joke.

The example lacks his mannerisms and why he is the butt of the joke a few times in that little scene.

BUT it fit nicely with what Shadowcay posted.
It is also why Steve Coogan is currently doing well in the movies.

Actually again he kind of fits - he is a massive fan of ABBA and I have to say, I do like some ABBA.

Recent albums I love (by recent I mean last 10 years) is definitely Tenacious D by Tenacious D

I can't choose between Fragile by Yes, Close to the Edge by Yes, and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles. Three absolutely incredible (and, in Yes' case, underrated) albums. Honorable mentions go to Abbey Road by The Beatles, Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, Fish Out of Water by Chris Squire (it's a hidden gem), and Led Zeppelin IV by (duh) Led Zeppelin.

The beatles are the beatles, part Elvis and the fore runners of pop and Emo and even a smattering of punk....most of my collection aside from country/gospel/rap owes a debt of gratitude to the Beatles.

I don't listen to them as much as i should. 🙂

Ohh I watched that film (saw the stage show years ago) I absolutely love it. I did make the mistake of taking a fate to see it at the cinema mind. I was singing along and she kept telling me to shush(thats correct, a she - even in the midst of this comment) so I berated her and said that anyone NOT singing along at a movie FILLED with ABBA songs is dead inside

she never returned any of my phone calls after that and deleted me off her Facebook page.

The ones I have highlighted are absolutely amazing and I agree.

I never liked NKOTB or Bush and while I do love Reload by The Jones, it isn't a favourite.

I don't know if it's the best ever, but the soundtrack to "The Crow" is easily my favorite.

Dark Side of the Moon. Hey with over 40 million copies sold pretty hard to argue it's NOT the best album of all time. This album has endured time... vinyl, 8 track, cassette, cd. (yes over the years I bought each format)
Sadly a founding member Richard Wright passed this week, the band in heaven just got that much better.
Oh and Fleetwood Mac Rumours is pretty good too.

I am not much an album listener... I prefer single songs mostly...HOWEVER, Pink's "I'm not dead" is the only one where I love all songs on the album....
