Ok folks what are the best books you've ever read?

Mine faves are:
Spike and Dru All pretty maids in a row ----- Chris Golden
Have a nice day ---- Mick Foley
Carrie ---- Stephen King
The Rats ---- James Herbet
 
Okay this is hard for someone like me, who always says "Television and Internet are invented to replace books!"

But here are mine:

H.G. Wells - "the Time Machine"
J. Rowling - "Harry Potter" (all of them, I like the newest better)
 
I read ALOT, so picking my favorites is tough!!

Margaret Mitchell..."Gone with the Wind"
Charles Frazier......"Cold Mountain"
Richard Russo........"Empire Falls"
Stephen King........."Carrie"

As for the last, I think Stephen King is highy underrated! Good to see a fellow fan (and you recognize the brillance of Carrie too!). I also like alot of the female PI series', like Sue Grafton and Janet Evanovich.

Don't worry Allycat, most of my picks are movies or are currently being made into movies (Cold Mountain) 🙂 🙂
 
Not really a big reader, but of the few books I have read in my short life so far...here are my favorites:

"Siddhartha" by Hermann Hesse
"To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee
"The Lost Slayer" (Parts 1-4) by Christopher Golden
"Mick Harte Was Here" by Barbara Park (it's basically a kids book, but I love it.)

I've not read the Harry Potter books, despite the fact they are sitting on one of my bookshelves...I'm going to regret asking this I think, but, are they a lot better than the film (I thought the first film was pants and I've not been bothered to see the second)?
 
HP: The books are good and the movies too, but they're a little different, I liked story of the books better, however I rather see a movie than read a book!

The Little Sister- Raymond Chandler

I could go on and on, but those are the ones off the top of my head. Oh, and of course the Harry Potter books! 😉

"Interview with A Vampire" by Anne Rice
" Watership Down" by Richard Adams
" The Shinning" by Stephen King

Anything by Lord Byron, however that's more poetry then anything else.

God, the list goes on and on! I was an English Lit Major in college and I absolutely love reading!!

My favorite period is Contempoary American Fiction. Absolutely the best!!

those are the absolute favs, far to many to list here.
btw, I'd recommend that any of you into JRRT go and find his short stories, particularly "Smith Of Wootton Major"

I love Watership Down! That's such a wonderful book! My friend just got me the sequel, Tales from Watership Down which I'm going to start reading soon. 😀
