Which season was the best? This is hard to decide, because do you judge by which season had the least terrible episodes, which season had the most "O.K. but not horrible" episodes or which season had the greatest episode or best season finale? Season one had a lot of great episodes, few terrible ones, and the rest were just O.K. However, season two had some truly great episodes, including one of the greatest season finales ever, but a lot of terrible ones like "Some Assembly Required," "Bad Eggs," "Ted," and "Go Fish." I think Season Three had a few great episodes such as "The Wish", Doppelgangland," "Earshot," and the finale, very few crappy ones but a lot of "O.K but not terribly exciting" episodes. Season four was voted probably the worst season ever! As far as I can see, I don't think it was all that bad, except for all the Initiative scenes. This particular season had some great episodes like "Hush," Wild at Heart," New Moon Rising," and the double Faith epi which were pretty irrelevant to the Initiative. Some episodes that I thought were terrible were "The Initiative," The I in Team, " and Goodbye Iowa" while the rest weren't bad. Excluding seasons five and six, I'll have to go with the season that probably had the most "O.K. but not terrible" episodes, so I think Season Three was probably the best! What do U think?

Saeson 2 has to be Some Assembly Required, Bad Eggs, Becoming 1+2 all great eps, School hard my personal fave ep ever and in my opinion only a handful of just OK eps and no bad ones. Then there was the Xander/ Cordy relastionship and Willow and Oz not to mention evil Angel. Plus the second saddest season finale ever (behind season 3) And of course my fave couple in all of television Spike and Dru. Season 2 just rocked.

Gotta be season 2. Except for a few selected episodes, which others have mentioned above, but other than that-- season 2 was the best season ever.

of S1 to 4 I'd say it's probably Season 3, cos of 'Doppelgangland' and 'Graduation Day'. But S2 and 4 were ok too. Then again, I also like S1, 5 and 6, so ... 🙂

edit
S2 indeed had Spike and Drusilla... I'll make this one a 6-way tie 😀

from Season 1-4 I would pick Season 3.. I've seen all the episodes for Season 3 but I don't remember a lot of them, I've just watched the second half of them and they were all good.

I think I'd have to go with Season 3. Senior year, had some great episodes and a lot of great characters. Faith, and The Mayor (who is still my all time fave season baddie) he just rocked! I laughed so hard when the Mayor was on. He was so bad in such a humorus way. 🙂
And it was the season that with eps like 'Earshot' and 'Graduation' peaked my interest in the series.

Season 2 would be my favourite season and very much like JFGAhBro on breakdown. S1 was never going to be the best overall season; it was produced as high impact, yet low quality viewing throughout and consequently brought this season well below the standards set shortly afterwards. The characters were tactless, dim-witted and fairly under-developed"¦ a.k.a teenagers of course and yet the pop culture aspect and unique cult and post-era meddling Joss began to improvise on still yielded enough commercial territory to bring in the masses (all ages) and the illustrious recognition thereafter. More than anything though, it set the rugged path lying ahead and to what was to become the best collection of seasons on the planetâ„¢, so well no complaints here. 🙄

S3 on the other hand was just mediocre for me, it had it's distinct tone and time frame, but ultimately what I thought was just a frustrating season; a fairly pedantic crop of episodes that never really set the scene and what subsequently proved to become my first major disliking towards the show. Faith, I simply can't stand Eliza's character, she's just so passé towards the character development I thought Joss had been cleverly implementing over the past season (like some shoddy copy-cat character from the mid 80's, pro-teen, female decadence movement and "it's cool to be tough, didn't you know that?" era) and no I'm not talking about the arrogance, self-creed, spice-girl, power trip thing"¦ or anything like that for the matter, she had good qualities, her independence, the way she was self-assuring and confident"¦ it's just the fact that in my opinion she was just a dense, lack-lustre angle at trying to broaden the shows horizons and irrefutably what really was just an attempt at trying to give the show an edge"¦ which you know I actually thought was already there in the first place. (Let the reels of arguments consume the thread!) I question Joss for it all the time, but understandably a show as good and as well orchestrated as this needs to take chances on the characters it combines and has to set a short hand for not just the community of fans, but everyone viewing. I don't for one-second question that notion, so moving swiftly on"¦

S4, well trying hard not to relegate, I thought this was still the worst season but on the contrary still very much "run of the mil" so to speak. Quality episodes came few and far between due to a poorly scripted story arc and the inevitable question, what the f**k was Adam about... the big, dumb freak, A: et all? The Initiative like everyone above stated was mocked and laughed at and the on-going plot made the lack of unique episodes fairly evident. But again, "Buffy!" I scamper to decline before off-shoting onto S2"¦ S4 was still Buffy S4 and yeah ok, it was bad"¦ but then so who's perfect? You"¦ ok, stop it! 😉

S2 finally... well it hit the spot and hard; intense, surreal comic-book wit and versatility, unprecedented methods to the hourly slot and really just exceptional on all accounts to what it was trying to prove after any established s1 critique still squandering in the backdrop. For me, it's hard for anything to surpass those expectations and given how young the show was at the time, I give anyone the reprimand to argue that I'm wrong. Ok, actually don't bother"¦ too much to muse over.

I think 3 was the best season, because i really love Faith 😉
Season 2 is also good, because of Spike and Angelus and Dru of course. But the 6. seems also nice to me 😀

I'm going to have to say.....s3...although i haven't seen the whole thing...mostly just some re runs....but ive read almost all of the transcripts so....but if not s3 then definitely s6.......

I'm going with season 3. I loved season 2 as well but season 3 introduced my all-time favorite BTVS character, Faith. Plus the Mayor is my favorite big bad.

Ok, again, not writing as much as Oz! Found it too hard to even read all of what he said! 😉
Out of those 4, defintely season 3. I loved doppelgangland and it had other class eps too!
Season 2 was really good too.
Season 1 was alright, just the basics, but still the foundation of the fabulous show we know and love. I suppose it had to be good to start to gain this massive fan base!
Season 4 was not awful, but was the worst season out of the 6!
So theres my opinion! Season 5 was good too, and i ::heart::d season 6, actually!

😀

Season Two! Spike came into play and Angelus made his appearence

Hmmm - spike! Lol, and dru was there too! But IMO, i preferred angel to angelus!
Still season 3 - it ruled!

😉

For me it's a toss up between seasons 2 and 3.
I am a major Buffy/Angel shipper so that should say something right there. I fell in love with the vamp with the soul so much so that I won't mind one of my own....he he he.

Lisa

Lol, ditto to dat, gal! I want my own david. full stop. 😉
But still season 3 - all the eppys just ruled! And darling dave was there too! But im marrying james, so you can have dave, if youi want - you just have to get him to divorce jamie 1st!

😉

mine would have to be season 4, Riley, Forrest, and Graham are really sexy, even though Riley and Graham left and Forrest was killed.

~* Jamie *~

Youre the 1st person ive EVER heard say that! Most people regard S4 as an atrocious mistake that should never have happened! I personally liked it but it does come last out of them all in my preferences!

😉

i actually preferred season 4 to season 3. because i like anya, spike, and the initiative. there were a few bad episodes, such as "beer bad", "living conditions" and a few others, but great episodes like "hush", "harsh light of day" and "restless" made up for them.

still, season 2 is the best. 1 is corny. 5 is pretty good. 6 is pretty ghey. except for the musical.
