Best Dracula?

Simple really. Who's the Dracula you rate the most. Bela Lugosi? Jack Palance? Gary Oldman? Gerard Butler?
Do you prefer the old-fashioned depictions or maybe a more modern take?
Any of them you can't stand?

Me, I've always had a soft spot for Christopher Lee. Simply because he was in all those Hammer Horror pictures that I watched when I was growing up. Him vs. Peter Cushing was the Dracual story.
And his voice/screen presence was so powerful, you could believe in all those swooning damsels.
Also CL actually visited Transylvania on a mission during WWII. Conspiricy theories aboud because nobody knows why...
 
Bela Lugosi will always hold a special place but I think Christopher Lee. It's hard to pick one over the other.
 
Hal Holbrook. He managed to be sexy yet understated in the Dracula tradition but in a much more believable way.

I love the oldies, but Jourdan just is Count Dracula to me.

Interesting choice. I remember him having bags of screen presence.
Some actors relied on situations to make them seem creepy. But ultimately they had to hope the camera operator was up to the task and that the 'special effects' looked good,which they may have done thirty years ago.
Gary Oldman's portrayal of Dracula seemed to have given him to much sophistication, in Dracula Untold the actor did an okay job but was severely let down by a poor screenplay and a poor editor; how could his enemies know about the silver?
Bela Lugosi gave Dracula that air of creepiness, the downside being the song at the end of Vampire Academy which is in all fairness, not his fault.
Frank Langella gave Dracula the piercing eyes. So to my mind the best two were Bela Lugosi and Frank Langella, they gave Dracula that special feeling that there was an inner evilness behind the eyes. They didn't rely on special effects to make them appear good.
 
Hmm... I'm not sure if I can pick just one per se. The most iconic film version would be Bela Lugosi. Maybe Gary Oldman for one closer to the books. I'd have to give points to Rudolf Martin (Buffy & Dark Prince). As far as I know he's the only actor to have played both the historical Vlad & The Count in separate projects. Plus he definitely has the look. And of course a mention to maybe the creepiest 'Dracula' with Max Schreck's indelible performance in Nosferatu.
 
Lugosi, now, and always. He could send a shiver up your spine with the words, "I never drink...wine," like no other actor ever could.

On the other hand, if you prefer a disco Drac....

 
Oh, the worst I've seen is that guy out of Van Helsing. What's his name Richard Roxbourgh? Urgh. Scenery chewing and ott yelling. Also not scary.
He was also the worst Shelock Holmes I'd ever seen (he was in a BBC adaptation of Hound Of The Baskervilles)- the guy's terrible.
