Out of those I've seen, I love Moulin Rouge. Probably not his best work, since I hear Velvet Goldmine rocks....but I thought he was good in it.
 
I prefer his lower budget stuff, such as Trainspotting and Shallow Grave, another fave is Young Adam.

I was startled for a moment, because when you look at this thread title from the corner of your eye, it looks like it says "Ewan McGregor DIES". 😛 Don't frighten an old man like that. 😛

I haven't seen any of the other two, but my pick has to go to "Trainspotting" as one of his best ever outings....even though I had a hard time getting past the heavy accents. I don't see too people mentioning his early movie "Nightwatch". It doesn't seem anybody liked that flick.

And contrary to what the George Lucas bashers love to say, I LIKED Ewan in the Star Wars flicks.

I always forget that to quite a lot of people the accents can be hard to understand, especially Spud and Begbie. If you had trouble with the movie don't even bother reading the book because you find it reads like another language to you as its written as its spoken.

Nightwatch was not a great movie, but not bad either. It was watchable, gave me the creeps a bit with that light and when he was walking through the morgue.

Its a shame he has decided to opt out of Porno (the sequel to Trainspotting).

Anyone else seen The Long Way Round?

Ewan McGregor was one of the few saving graces of the Star Wars movies in my opinion.
I think he is a very talented actor.
He was magnificent in Big Fish, Shallow Grave, a Life Less Ordinary and Moulin Rouge........i liked him in Trainspotting, but i never caught the furore of that movie.....and he was perfect in Valiant.
Yes, i think he will be a treatin any movies he stars in
 
loved all the movies in the poll (yes, even Star Wars - its in my DNA, I had to like it), Big Fish is another good one and I seem to remember an early episode of ER that he played a hood sticking up a grocery store and ended up taking Carol Hathaway hostage.

I agree with both of you, for what he was given to work with in the three Star Wars movies, I think he did remarkably well. I especially think he stepped up for episode 3. I'd imagine people don't realise acting while not using much of the emotion that a human feels and trying to be charismatic with it, can't be easy... I honestly can't be bothered rearranging that sentence so that it makes better sense...
 
Transpotting is great, not the kind of movie I want to see every day though.. That's probably the "best" one in my opinion. Completely love Moulin Rouge and Big Fish as well though, would all end up kind of high on my top, uh, 50, movie list..

lol. Sorry. I love that film. Ewan rules and I love that scene with Begbie in the pub! Both of them are top-notch actors.
