Best guide book?

There aren't a whole lot, but I currently have The Watchers Guide (V1 and 2, V3 is on order) and Keith Toppings' "Slayer", but my edition only goes up to season 5.

I really don't like the Topping format. Especially when he goes on about how hot SMG or Cordy look in their miniskirts, or how stupid someone looks in their yellow sweater and stripey hat.

The Watchers Guides are good but they're kind of bulky. The interviews are nice though, and the episode guides are a lot better than Toppings. Hopefully V3 will be as good as the first two.

Anyone here have any of the other ones? I know of a couple more but I don't know much about them. I get a lot of the info online, on Wikipedia, on Buffyworld.com, etc, but I like having a hard copy of the guides. Any info on other non-fiction books would be nice too. The only one I've read is Buffy and Philosophy.

I've got the Watcher's Guides and the all the Keith Topping ones too. I think I prefer Nikki Stafford's guide books though.

I have the boxset of the guides,1,2,3,and they are quiet nice
but take up a lot of room.
The Slayer one i dont have though so cannot judge on that.

Dammit, my comment got erased.

I'll sum it up.

The Buffy trivia book by Topping(there's a Angel one was well) was fun, and you can follow that one up by the quiz book.

The high school book is fun and light, filled with in-character notes and non-fiction notes and photos(if I remember correctly).

'Why Buffy matters', was too heavy for me(or maybe it was 'What would Buffy do?'). I felt like I needed to study psychology before getting into that one.

The 'Angel casefiles vol 1-2' seems to be similar to the watcher's guides, which is great.

Nikki Stafford's books are the best, in my opinion.

She has three Buffy ones, but the latest one has every season and info on Season 8, cast bios, color and black and white photos, and more. It's called "Bite Me."
The Angel one is called "Once Bitten" and includes an interview with Alexis Denisof, color and black and white photos, cast bios, and more.

She also has an Alias and Lost one.

Very cool! I've read some mixed reviews on Stafford's books, but it sounds like they're not so bad. It's too bad the Alias one wasn't updated for the later seasons though... at least it doesn't look like that, judging by the Amazon listing.

Seems like these are all going in my wish list.

Slayer is the Keith Topping one... it's got lots of info, but I dislike the lack of a table of contents, the excessive information within the episode guide (with tons of useless information). The cover is neat, and it's pretty compact, but it's boring. Plus its basically a paperback novel, and doesn't even have pictures of interviews or anything of the like. I was disappointed, but I did get it for free (I won a lot of Buffy books on eBay, and the seller threw in the Chosen book even though it wasn't in the listing).

This is the only one I have. It's about monsters profile. It has every kind of monster history and myths. I mean, real myths, not only in the show. The only problem is, there're only monsters from s1-s4. I can't find other continuity book. The good thing is, last 15 pages are all about Faith! 😀

"Slayer" is the one by Keith Topping.

But I personally love Stafford's books. She adds humor and bits of trivia in them, so it's like she's actually speaking to you like someone on BB would, instead of just an episode listing and summary.
