Been browsing the net for some good Buffy/Angel monologues. Of course, I value YOUR opinion much more than any of those sites; so I ask you....which are your favorites?

Mine are:

Whistler:
Bottom line is, even if you see 'em coming, you're not ready for the big moments. No one asks for their life to change, not really. But it does. So what are we, helpless? Puppets? No. The big moments are gonna come. You can't help that. It's what you do afterward that counts. That's when you find out who you are.

Glory:
Funny, 'cause I look around at this world your so eager to be a part of.. and all I see is 6 billion lunatics looking for the fastest ride out. Who's not crazy? Look around. Everyone's drinking, smoking, shooting up, or shooting each other, or just plain screwing their brain outs 'cause they don't want them anymore. I'm crazy? Honey, I'm the original one-eyed chicklet in the kingdom of the blind, cause at least I admit the world makes me nuts.

Spike:
And the thing about the dance is, you never get to stop. Every day you wake up, it's the same bloody question that haunts you: is today the day I die? Death is on your heels, baby, and sooner or later it's gonna catch you. And part of you wants it... not only to stop the fear and uncertainty, but because you're just a little bit in love with it. Death is your art. You make it with your hands, day after day. That final gasp. That look of peace. Part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. Every Slayer... has a death wish. Even you. The only reason you've lasted as long as you have is you've got ties to the world... your mum, your brat kid sister, the Scoobies. They all tie you here but you're just putting off the inevitable. Sooner or later, you're gonna want it.

Buffy:
I'm beyond tired. I'm beyond scared. I'm standing on the mouth of hell, and it is gonna swallow me whole. And it'll choke on me. We're not ready? They're not ready. They think we're gonna wait for the end to come, like we always do. I'm done waiting. They want an apocalypse? Oh, we'll give 'em one. Anyone else who wants to run, do it now. 'Cause we just became an army. We just declared war. From now on, we won't just face our worst fears, we will seek them out. We will find them, and cut out their hearts one by one, until The First shows itself for what it really is. And I'll kill it myself. There is only one thing on this earth more powerful than evil, and that's us. Any questions?

Tell me yours!!!:coolman:

I like Glory's and Buffy
I have a few that Anya has said.

But I don't understand! I don't understand how this all happens. How we go through this. I mean, I knew her, and then she's, there's just a body, and I don't understand why she just can't get back in it and not be dead anymore! It's stupid! It's mortal and stupid! And, and Xander's crying and not talking, and, and I was having fruit punch, and I thought, well Joyce will never have any more fruit punch, ever, and she'll never have eggs, or yawn or brush her hair, not ever, and no one will explain to me why.

I, Anya, want to marry you, Xander, because I love you, and I'll always love you. And before I knew you, I was like a completely different person. Not even a person, really...and I had seen what love could do to people, and it was hurt...and sadness. Alone was better. And then, suddenly, there was you, and you knew me. You saw me, and it was this...thing. You make me feel safe, and warm. So I get it now. I finally get love, Xander. I really do.

They have no purpose that unites them, so they just drift around, blundering through life, until they die - which they know is coming, yet every single one of them is surprised when it happens to them. They're incapable of thinking about what they want beyond the moment. They kill each other, which is clearly insane. And yet here's the thing - when it's something that really matters, they fight. They're lame morons for fighting, but they do. They never, never quit. And so I guess I'll keep fighting too.

That second Anya one is one of my favourites. I get tears everytime!
Spike: “I dreamed of killing you. I think they were dreams. So weak. And you make me weak. Thinking of you, holding myself…and spilling useless buckets of salt over your...ending. Angel, he should’ve warned me. He makes a good show of forgetting…but it’s here in me…all the time. The spark. I wanted to give you what you deserve. And I got it. They put the spark in me and now, all it does is burn. “
Buffy: “Your soul.”
Spike: “A bit worse for lack of use.”
Buffy: “You got your soul back. How?”
Spike: “
Buffy: “Why? Why would you do - ”
Spike: “Buffy, shame on you. Why does a man do what he mustn’t? For her. To be hers. To be the kind of man who would nev – to be a kind of man. And she shall look on him with forgiveness. And everybody will forgive and love. And he will be loved. So everything’s ok, right? Can we rest now? Buffy? Can we rest?”

karma for that scene <3
Faith (as buffy, to spike):
Cause I could do anything I want, and instead I choose to pout and whine and feel the burden of Slayerness? I mean, I could be rich. I could be famous. I could have anything. Anyone. Even you, Spike. I could ride you at a gallop until your legs buckled and your eyes rolled up. I've got muscles you've never even dreamed of. I could squeeze you until you pop like warm champagne and you'd beg me to hurt you just a little bit more. And you know why I don't? Because it's wrong.

Angelus:
Passion. It lies in all of us. Sleeping... ...waiting... And though unwanted... ...unbidden... it will stir... ...open its jaws, and howl. It speaks to us... guides us... Passion rules us all. And we obey. What other choice do we have? Passion is the source of our finest moments. The joy of love... the clarity of hatred... and the ecstasy of grief. It hurts sometimes more than we can bear. If we could live without passion, maybe we'd know some kind of peace. But we would be hollow. Empty rooms, shuttered and dank... Without passion, we'd be truly dead.

Wes:
"Fred? - I know what you're doing. - What you're up to. - Luring me. Forcing me to find you. - Oh, it's such a dog and pony show. - You beguile me with your girlish ways I pursue you but you never give over, do you? - No, you just keep laughing and running. Well, guess what, my love - I'm not some downy-faced schoolboy. I'm a man."

The Angelus one is on my Myspace page!
Spike: (I'm surprised no one's said this one yet)

You listen to me. I've been alive a bit longer than you, and dead a lot longer than that. I've seen things you couldn't imagine, and done things I prefer you didn't. I don't exactly have a reputation for being a thinker. I follow my blood, which doesn't exactly rush in the direction of my brain. So I make a lot of mistakes, a lot of wrong bloody calls. A 100+ years, and there's only one thing I've ever been sure of: you. Hey, look at me. I'm not asking you for anything. When I say, "I love you," it's not because I want you or because I can't have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. I've seen your kindness and your strength. I've seen the best and the worst of you. And I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You're a hell of a woman. You're the one, Buffy.

A few by Xander:

I've been through more battles with Buffy than you all can ever imagine. She's stopped everything that's ever come up against her. She's laid down her life—literally—to protect the people around her. This girl has died two times, and she's still standing. You're scared? That's smart. You got questions? You should. But you doubt her motives, you think Buffy's all about the kill, then you take the little bus to battle. I've seen her heart, and this time—not literally. And I'm telling you, right now, she cares more about your lives than you will ever know. You gotta trust her. She's earned it.

I've gotta say something, 'cause I don't think I've made it clear. I'm in love with you. Powerfully, painfully in love. The things you do, the way you think, the way you move...I get excited every time I'm about to see you. You make me feel like I've never felt before in my life. Like a man. I just thought you might wanna know.

First day of kindergarten you cried 'cause you broke the yellow crayon and you were too afraid to tell anyone. You've come pretty far, ending the world, not a terrific notion but the thing is, yeah. I love you. I loved crayon-breaky Willow and I love scary veiny Willow. So if I'm going out, it's here. You wanna kill the world you start with me. I've earned that.

Some by Buffy:

You know what? I was wrong. You are an idiot. My life happens to, on occasion, suck beyond the telling of it. Sometimes more than I can handle. And it's not just mine. Every single person down there is ignoring your pain because they're too busy with their own. The beautiful ones. The popular ones. The guys that pick on you. Everyone. If you could hear what they were feeling. The loneliness. The confusion. It looks quiet down there. It's not. It's deafening.

Strong is fighting. It's hard and it's painful and it's everyday. It's what we have to do and we can do it together. But if you're too much of a coward for that, then burn. If I can't convince you that you belong in this world, I don't know what can. But don't expect me to watch, and don't expect me to mourn for you because...

Dawn, listen to me. Listen. I love you. I will always love you. But this is the work that I have to do. Tell Giles...tell Giles I figured it out. And, and I'm okay. And give my love to my friends. You have to take care of them now. You have to take care of each other. You have to be strong...Dawn, the hardest thing in this world is to live in it. Be brave. Live. For me.

Aww I completely forgot about this one!!! Definitely one of the best.

Another one by Spike, one of my favorites of the series:
You're not friends. You'll never be friends. You'll be in love till it kills you both. You'll fight and you'll shag and you'll hate each other till it makes you quiver, but you'll never be friends. Love isn't brains, children, it's blood. Blood screaming inside you to work its will. I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it.

Wow, I guess I like monologues too much. 😛

Love that one. I think I might like it more than his "You're the one" monologue, although only marginally.

Agree completely with Anya's The Body speech and Buffy's "It will choke on me" speech. Those two have me in tears everytime I watch them. The delivery is incredible for both.

Some of my other favorites:

"I hate this. I hate being here. I hate that you have to be here. I hate that there's evil, and that I was chosen to fight it. I wish, a whole lot of the time, that I hadn't been. I know a lot of you wish I hadn't been either. But this isn't about wishes. This is about choices..... So here's the part where you make a choice. What if you could have that power now? In every generation, one Slayer is born, because a bunch of men who died thousands of years ago made up that rule. They were powerful men. This woman is more powerful than all of them combined. So I say we change the rule. I say my power should be our power. Tomorrow, Willow will use the essence of the scythe to change our destiny. From now on, every girl in the world who might be a Slayer will be a Slayer. Every girl who could have the power will have the power; can stand up, will stand up. Slayers, every one of us. Make your choice. Are you ready to be strong?"" - Buffy

"You really do think you're better than we are. But we don't know. We don't know if you're actually better. I mean, you came into the world with certain advantages, sure. I mean, that's the legacy. But you didn't earn it. You didn't work for it. You never had anybody come up to you and say that you deserve these things more than anyone else; they were just handed to you. So that doesn't make you better than us. It makes you luckier than us." - Anya

"I saw what you did last night. You thought you were all special. Miss Sunnydale 2003. And the minute you found out you weren't, you handed the crown to Amanda without a moment's pause. You gave her your power. They'll never know how tough it is, Dawnie, to be the one who isn't chosen. To live so near to the spotlight and never step in it. But I know. I see more than anybody realizes because nobody's watching me. I saw you last night. I see you working here today. You're not special. You're extraordinary."

"We're not good friends. Most of us never found the time to get to know you, but that doesn't mean we haven't noticed you. We don't talk about it much, but it's no secret that Sunnydale High isn't really like other high schools. A lot of weird stuff happens here. But, whenever there was a problem or something creepy happened, you seemed to show up and stop it. Most of the people here have been saved by you, or helped by you at one time or another. We're proud to say that the Class of '99 has the lowest mortality rate of any graduating class in Sunnydale history, and we know at least part of that is because of you. So the senior class offers its thanks, and gives you, uh, this. It's from all of us, and it has written here, 'Buffy Summers, Class Protector.'" - Jonathan

"Open your eyes, Mom. What do you think has been going on for the past two years? The fights, the weird occurrences. How many times have you washed blood out of my clothing, and you still haven't figured it out?.... It never stops. Do you think I chose to be like this? Do you have any idea how lonely it is? How dangerous? I would love to be upstairs watching TV or gossiping about boys or, god, even studying! But I have to save the world. Again." - Buffy

"Y'all got on this boat for different reasons, but y'all come to the same--" Oh, wait. 😛

I was gonna post that one of Xander's, it's lovely.
And Jonathan's speech, awww. 🙂

Buffy:
No review. No interrogation. No questions you know I can't answer. No hoops, no jumps... and no interruptions. See ... I've had a lot of people talking at me the last few days. Everyone just lining up to tell me how unimportant I am. And I've finally figured out why. Power. I have it. They don't.

Spike:
I want you to know I did save you. Not when it counted, of course, but ... after that. Every night after that. I'd see it all again ... do something different. Faster or more clever, you know? Dozens of times, lots of different ways ... his voice softens. Every night I save you.

Buffy: [to spike]
Be easier, wouldn't it, it if were an act, but it's not. You faced the monster inside of you and you fought back. You risked everything to be a better man... And you can be. You are. You may not see it, but I do. I do. I believe in you

I LOVE that one
Angel: I killed mine. I killed their friends... and their friends' children... For a hundred years I offered ugly death to everyone I met, and I did it with a song in my heart.

GILES - No she couldn't. Never. And sooner
or later, Glory will re-emerge and make
Buffy pay for that mercy, and the world
with her. Buffy even knows that, and
still she wouldn't take a human life.
Because she's a hero, you see.
She's not like us.

Spike: She didn't even kill me. She just left. She didn't care enough to cutoff my head or set me on fire. I mean was that so much to ask?You know. Some little sign she cared? It was that truce with Buffy that did it. Dru said I'd gone soft. Wasn't demon enough for the likes of her. I told her it didn't mean anything. I was thinking of her the whole time, she didn't care. So we got to Brazil and she was just different. I gave her everything. Beautiful jewels, beautiful dresses with beautiful girls in them, but nothing made her happy. she would flirt. I caught her in the park with a chaos demon. A chaos demon. Have you ever seen a chaos demon? They're all slime and antlers. They're disgusting. She only did ir to hurt me. so I said "I'm not putting up with this anymore." She said "fine." I said "Yeah I've got an life you know." And she said...she said We could still be friends! God I'm so unhappy!

BUFFY: You're Watchers. Without a Slayer, you're pretty much just watchin' Masterpiece Theater. You can't stop Glory. You can't do anything with the information you have except maybe publish it in the "Everyone Thinks We're Insane-O's Home Journal." So here's how it's gonna work. You're gonna tell me everything you know. Then you're gonna go away. (resumes pacing) You'll contact me if and when you have any further information about Glory. The magic shop will remain open. Mr. Giles will stay here as my official Watcher, reinstated at full salary...

Well, I think I'm expected to post this one. 😉

Xander: First day of kindergarten you cried 'cause you broke the yellow crayon and you were too afraid to tell anyone. You've come pretty far, ending the world, not a terrific notion but the thing is, yeah. I love you. I loved crayon-breaky Willow and I love scary veiny Willow. So if I'm going out, it's here. You wanna kill the world you start with me. I've earned that.

Buffy: What about me? I love you so much. And I tried to make you go away. I killed you and that didn't help. And I hate it. I hate that it's so hard. And that you can hurt me so much. I know everything that you did because you did it to me. God... I wished that I wished you dead. You know, I can't. ...

Buffy: Dawn, listen to me. Listen. I love you. I will *always* love you... But this is the work that I have to do... Tell Giles ... tell Giles I figured it out. And, and I'm okay. ..And give my love to my friends... You have to take care of them now. ..You have to take care of each other... You have to be strong... Dawn, the hardest thing in this world ... is to live in it. ..Be brave... Live. For me.

Anya: For the last time. 'I, Anya, want to marry you, Xander, because ... I love you and I'll always love you. And ... before I knew you, I was like a completely different person. Not even a person, really...and I had seen what love could do to people, and it was ... hurt and sadness. Alone was better. And then, suddenly there was you, and ... you knew me. You saw me, and it was this ... thing. You make me feel safe and warm. 'So, I get it now. I finally get love, Xander. I really do.'

And how could anyone forget this?

Spike: How can I thank you, you mysterious, black-clad hunk of a night thing? No need, little lady, your tears of gratitude are enough for me. You see, I was once a badass vampire, but love and a pesky curse defanged me. Now Im just a big, fluffy puppy with bad teeth. No, not the hair! Never the hair! But there must be someway I can show my appreciation. No, helping those in needs my job, - and working up a load of sexual tension, and prancing away like a magnificent poof is truly thanks enough! I understand. I have a nephew who is gay, so Say no more. Evils still afoot! And Im almost out of that Nancy-boy hair-gel that I like so much. Quickly, to the Angel-mobile, away!

And, of course, Spike's monologue to Buffy right before the last fight. 🙂

Giles:
Do you want me to wag my finger at you and tell you that you acted rashly? You did, and I can. I know that you loved him. And he has proven more than once that he loved you. You couldn't have known what would happen. The coming months are gonna be hard...I suspect on all of us. But if it's guilt you're looking for, Buffy, I'm not your man. All you will get from me is my support. And my respect.

Aww, warm fuzzies.

Spike:

"You're not friends. You'll never be friends. You'll be in love 'til it kills you both. You'll fight, and you'll shag, and you'll hate each other 'til it makes you quiver, but you'll never be friends. Real love isn't brains, children. It's blood. It's blood screaming inside you to work its will. I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it."

"I do remember what I said. The promise. To protect her. If I'd done that ... even if I didn't make it, you wouldn't've had to jump. I want you to know I did save you. Not when it counted, of course. But after that. Every night after that. I'd see it all again, do something different. Faster or more clever, you know? Dozens of times, lots of different ways ...Every night I save you."

"Buffy, shame on you. What does a man do what he mustn't? For her. To be her's. To be the kind of man who would never...be a kind of man...and she shall look on him with forgiveness and everybody will forgive and love and he will be loved. So everything's okay, right? Can we rest now? Buffy, can we rest?"

"A hundred plus years, and there's only one thing I've ever been sure of -- you. Hey, look at me. I'm not asking you for anything. When I say I love you, it's not because I want you, or because I can't have you, and it has nothing to do with me. I love what you are. What you do. How you try. I've seen your kindness and your strength. I've seen the best and the worst of you, and I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You are a hell of a woman. You're the one, Buffy."

"Yeah...I hear you say it, but...I've lived for-soddin'-ever, Buffy. I've done everything. Done things with you I can't spell. But I've never...been close. To anyone, least of all you. Till last night. All I did was hold you, watch you sleep. And it was the best night of my life. So yeah, I'm terrified."

Anya:

"But I don't understand! I don't understand how this all happens. How we go through this. I mean, I knew her, and then she's, there's just a body, and I don't understand why she just can't get back in it and not be dead anymore! It's stupid! It's mortal and stupid! And, and Xander's crying and not talking, and, and I was having fruit punch, and I thought, well Joyce will never have any more fruit punch, ever, and she'll never have eggs, or yawn or brush her hair, not ever, and no one will explain to me why"

"I, Anya, want to marry you, Xander, because I love you and I'll always love you. And ... before I knew you, I was like a completely different person. "I've been through more battles with Buffy than you all can ever imagine. She stopped everything that's ever come up against her. She's laid down her life - literally - to protect the people around her. This girl has died *two* times, and she's still standing. You're scared, that's smart. You got questions, you should. But you doubt her motives, you think Buffy's all about the kill, then you take the little bus to battle. I've seen her heart - and this time not literally - and I'm telling you right now she cares more about your lives than you will ever know. You gotta trust her. She's earned it."

Buffy:

"Dawn, listen to me. Listen: I love you. I will always love you. This is the work that I have to do. Tell Giles I... tell Giles I figured it out, and I'm o.k. Give my love to my friends. You have to take care of them now. You have to take care of each other. You have to be strong. Dawn, the hardest thing in this world is to live in it. Be brave. Live... for me."

"Be easier, wouldn't it, it if were an act, but it's not. You faced the monster inside of you and you fought back. You risked everything to be a better man... And you can be. You are. You may not see it, but I do. I do. I believe in you"

"So here's the part where you make a choice. Are you ready to be strong?"

Tara:

"There's just so much to work through. Trust has to be built again on both sides. You have to learn if - if we're even the same people we were. If you can fit in each others lives. It's a long and important process, and can we just skip it? C-Can you just be kissing me now? "

No Angel Monologues?
"Deep Down"
Angel: "What you did to me - was unbelievable, Connor. - But then I got stuck in a hell dimension by my girlfriend one time for a hundred years, so three months under the ocean actually gave me perspective. Kind of a M. C. Esher perspective - but I did get time to think. About us, about the world. - Nothing in the world is the way it ought to be. - It's harsh, and cruel. - But that's why there's us. Champions. It doesn't matter where we come from, what we've done or suffered, or even if we make a difference. We live as though the world was what it should be, to show it what it can be. - You're not a part of that yet. - I hope someday you will be. (Angel moves to stand in front of Connor) I love you, Connor. (Quietly, after a beat) Now get out of my house."

"Epiphany"
Kate: "I just couldn't... - My whole life has been about being a cop. If I'm not part of the force it's like nothing I do means anything."
Angel, still looking pretty beat up: "It doesn't."
Kate: "Doesn't what?"
Angel: "Mean anything. In the greater scheme or the big picture, nothing we do matters. There's no grand plan, no big win."
Kate: "You seem kind of chipper about that."
Angel: "Well, I guess I kinda - worked it out. If there is no great glorious end to all this, if - nothing we do matters, - then all that matters is what we do. 'cause that's all there is. What we do, now, today. - I fought for so long. For redemption, for a reward - finally just to beat the other guy, but... I never got it."
Kate: "And now you do?"
Angel: "Not all of it. All I wanna do is help. I wanna help because - I don't think people should suffer, as they do. Because, if there is no bigger meaning, then the smallest act of kindness - is the greatest thing in the world."

"Not Fade Away"
ANGEL
'Cause it's not about us, Lindsey. It's about them. The wolf. The ram. The hart. The ones we've been fighting against forever.

LINDSEY
You can't beat 'em.

ANGEL
Maybe they're not there to be beat. Maybe they're there to be fought. Maybe fighting them is what makes human beings so remarkably strong.

"Reprise"

Holland Manors: "See, for us, there is no fight. Which is why winning doesn't enter into it. We - go on - no matter what. Our firm has always been here. In one form or another. The Inquisition. The Khmer Rouge. We were there when the very first cave man clubbed his neighbor. See, we're in the hearts and minds of every single living being. And *that* - friend - is what's making things so difficult for you. - See, the world doesn't work in spite of evil, Angel. - It works with us. - It works because of us."

Cordelia:
I'm not a sniveling, whiny, little cry-Buffy. I'm the nastiest girl in Sunnydale history. I take crap from no one. Back off, Polygrip! You think you're bad? All mean and haunty? Picking on poor, pathetic Cordy? Well, get ready to haul your wrinkly, translucent ass out of this place, 'cause lady, the bitch is back. I think you're gonna pack your little ghost bags and get the hell out of my house.

Detective Kate Lockley: Never a dull moment when you're around, is there

Angel: I have to go

Detective Kate Lockley: Who in the hell do you think you are? You're a major witness at a major crime scene you're not going anywhere.

Angel: You want to try and stop me, Kate

Detective Kate Lockley: I'm glad we are not playing friends anymore. I am real sick and tired of your attitude. There's a little thing called the law...

Angel: This isn't about the law, this is about a little thing called life. Now I'm sorry about your father. But I didn't kill your father. And I'm sick and tired of you blaming me for everything you can't handle! You want to be enemies? Try me.

Ok, Oz doesn't really monologue, he barely speaks, but i have to give him some props.

"Sometimes when I'm sitting in class -- you know, I'm not thinking about class, 'cause that would never happen -- I think about kissing you, and it's like everything stops. It's like, it's like freeze frame. Willow kissage."

"Well, to the casual observer, it would appear that you're trying to make your friend Xander jealous, or even the score, or something. And...that's on the empty side. See, in my fantasy, when I'm kissing you, you're kissing me. It's okay, I can wait."

"Well, a gathering is Brie, mellow song stylings. Shindig - dip, less mellow song stylings, perhaps a large amount of malt beverage. And hootenanny - choc full of hoot, just a little bit of nanny."

I go to auditons for some of the community theater plays we have here and more often than not you are supposed to prepare a monologue. I think for my next audition I'm going to throw 'em for a loop and use a Buffyverse monologue.
