What's you're favorite Movie turned TV Show?

Mine would be
1.) Buffy the Vampire Slayer
2.) (tie) Stargate SG-1 and Batman the Animated Series

Revolver agrees: Batman doesn't really count there. There was a TV show (and a comic) before there was ever a movie.

Batman the Animated Series is the show created by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini, it was officially a television adaptation of the Burton Film Batman.

Right, but Tim Burton's movie was an adaption of a comic book that had already had a television series before that (albeit a terrible one). I guess to me movie turned TV show implies something started as a movie.

Yeah I think it has to originally be a movie. Not like, a book, then movie, then TV.

Actually, as much as I love Buffy and the entire universe that Joss created surrounding her, and as much as I liked the "Terminator" series and the direction that it was going before the network assassinated it, my all time favorite tv series taken from the idea or characters originated by a movie remains:

"HIGHLANDER"- The concept was as original as anything that Joss ever came up with, the acting and story were consistently excellent (okay, it slipped on occasion) the characters were always interesting, and it contained that, to me, one magic element: SWORDS. I'm a swashbuckler fan from way, way back.

(Of course, when I sing the praises of "Highlander," I only refer to the original movie and the series. The following movies were only fair at best, and an abomination at worst.)

Sadly, the franchise's return to the big screen has been, so far, not very good, I have high hopes for the proposed new movie, which is a "reboot" of the story, involving only the key character, and having no input by the creator, Grec Whiden (sound familiar?)

I liked the highlander movies (well, 1 and 3) more than the show. I liked Chris Lambert alot more than that other guy. And Sean Connery of course.

Terminator and Buffy are pretty close for me, but Buffy pulls ahead just by the amount of content. Buffy had 7 seasons, a 5 season spin off, and multiple comic titles. Terminator only had 2 seasons (and it broke my heart).

I'm kind of surprised there hasn't been more movement to adapt those iconic 80's sci-fi movies into TV series. "Terminator," "Total Recall" and "Highlander" are the only ones I can think of offhand that got that treatment. And "Ghostbusters," if you count the cartoon.

"Blade Runner," "Escape From New York," "Buckaroo Banzai" and the "Mad Max" movies are all ones I'd expect to be ripe for exploitation.

Never seen the 'Highlander' TV Show. Any Good?

I can't believe that I had totally forgotten about Highlander The Series! Indeed it's very worth watching, it's way better than the sequel movies.

I'll go with Buffy, followed by Stargate: SG1 and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The only Star Wars TV content I've liked so far is Genndy Tartakovsky's Star Wars: Clone Wars cartoon. I haven't bothered watching the new CGI series, even though it's supposed to be better than the animated film. Hopefully, the live-action series will be good. I'd also like to see an Aliens TV series, specifically one that followed the exploits of the Weyland-Yutani corporation.
