Best Season Ever!

This is my favorite season! Angelus was HOT and Spike & Drusilla were the best villain lovers because they were very cute! But I knd of mainly like it the most because Cordy/Xander is my favorite couple and this their season too! I love it!

The Angelus arc and "What's My Line" are great. The rest really isn't that amazing for me. There are some good standalones like Halloween and I Only Have Eyes For You, but that's about it. It's not consistent enough.

I'm really, really scared that what's happening in S8 right now may well be nuking my enjoyment of this season, which used to firmly be my favorite up till now. Stupid crappy comics. :banghead2:

Definitely my favorite season by far! It was such a perfect blend of the real world and the supernatural so that I really grew attached to the characters as the things they went through were things I could relate to. I also enjoyed that the atmosphere of the show as it was still very fun-filled. The characters often had a pretty zany time in most of their adventures and we didn't get one character or another having a breakdown every other week like in some of the later seasons.

I know that a lot of the standalone episodes catch some flak but I really like just about all of them. They had a great "monster of the week" feel to them which I felt kept the show really fresh and prevented the Angelus arc from becoming stale. One of the biggest reasons I believe the main story arc of this season to be the best of the series is that they didn't over-saturate the season with it and made each episode that furthered the arc to be all the more memorable. Angelus would be a lot less fearsome of an enemy if week after week Buffy foiled his plans.

Also, InsaneMystic, my advice would be to do your best to ignore the comics when watching the TV series. It's what I do and it makes everything muchhhhh better

best season ever

This is my joint favorite season. I love Season 3 as much as this one. I love the emotion and action throughout this series. Buffy's opponents in this season are so well matched for her. The Angelus and Buffy fights are amazing to watch. Not to mention the emotional rollacoster she goes on because of what happens with Angel. The death of a main character was also a shocking factor. There are a lot of powerful episodes in this series, and it goes into detail in a lot more relationships other than Buffy and Angels. The love triangle with Willow/Xander/Cordy is heartbreaking from Willows poit of view and then Giles heartache at finding someone to be with and then loosing her through Angelus' actions is powerful stuff.

I agree Buffy killing Angel, a main character was shocking indeed. At one time killing off a main character was something a writer on any series wouldn't do unless he/she was trying to kill the show, now it happens more and more. I love watching Buffy and Angelus fight because I like watching Buffy kick Angelus' evil b***.

I think that the Angelus arc was the best one the show ever had, and that S2 was the show's best season. It wasn't as consistent as S3 due to having some mediocre standalone episodes, but,the brilliance of the main storyline elevates it above it in my opinion.

I think that Season 2 was one of the most overrated seasons in the entire series. It had some good episodes, but the Fanged Four arc was handled in a less than stellar manner. In fact, there is something not quite right about this entire season.

So hard to make a decision in terms of this question but i'd probably say season 3. Storyline was solid and you don't find a bad episode. In saying that though for me there is no bad episode in any of the seasons, they all provide some sort of enjoyment.

What i like about Season 3 is the gang were still very much together, the character interaction was best shown in this season.

Season 2 is my fav season, it's just so well written and the season looks great, the camera movement and lighting.

plus it has prob my best ep 'Phases' :biggrin3:

i remember when i first watched 'Becoming' part 2 and how shocked i was that Buffy actually killed Angel, come on I bet none of us ever saw that coming when we first watched it

sweetie, your signature is way too big. try downsizing it a bit :)
I had been in the season 3 is the best ever camp, but after going through my 5th rewatch I have to say S2 is better. The whole second half of the season from "Surprise" onward is brilliant, and it finishes with my absolute favorite episode Becoming Pt2. I will probably flip back to season 3 by my 6th rewatch however.

I would say that if any season is better then season 3 it would be season 2. Very tough call because both just superb.

Season 2 and 3 are definitely the best seasons of the show.

Season 2 might be the best because of Spike and Angel (both bad at the time) which make the best villains of the entire show.

Furthermore it has some of the best episodes like Innocence and Passion...

The part in Innocence where Angel acts like the whole thing with Buffy didn't mean anything more to him than just sex...and the way Buffy reacts is truly brilliant... Best scene ever.

Season 2 is the season that got me hooked on BtVS. I wouldn't necessarily regard it as the best. It has its weak points and Season 3 is probably more consistent in terms of overall episode quality, but it certainly contains some of the seris' best episodes and the one of its greatest Big Bads and storyarcs.

I would go for Season 3 as the best overall Season, but only because Season 2 started out kind of weak (it continued the amusing but cheesy comedy of Season 1).

Still, the last half of Season 2 is among the best things of the Series ... some of the finest hours of television.

Yeah, season two was absolutely amazing in my opinion. I didn't enjoy the beginning quite so much, but the end was intense and had me absolutely enthralled. I watched the last episode of this season right before I went to bed, and fell asleep with pictures of Angel's face as he is stabbed and sucked into Hell by Buffy. =O At the time I had no idea he would come back, and was kind of shocked and depressed that they would take out such a complex and main character.

I'm kinda surprised that 'Becoming' is thought of so highly. I'll agree that Part 2 is amazing, but Part 1 wasn't.

I thought Becoming part 1 was great as well but I also usually just lump the two together counting them as one whole, because Becoming pt2 wouldn't be much without pt 1

I also just see "Becoming" as one big episode. For me it ranks as one of the best episodes in the show. Its so powerful, love Spike and Buffy teaming and i just love the storyline in general, its so eventful, truly brillant episode.
