What is the best season for the original hot chick with superpowers?

For me it's easily Season 2 or 5, but I'll say 2 because it showed all her inner strength, her vulnerability, her love and compassion for others, and she was funny as hell and of course, beautiful. SMG really brought her A-game and her performance deserves every bit of praise it gets.
 
I went with five. Its when the character has peaked maturaity wise, and we get a perfectly rounded young lady. She has all the kick arse, smart Buffy elements of before, but with a little more common sense and street smarts. I do enjoy the narrative with Spike and her exploring the Slayer roots too.
 
Season 5.
Buffy the grown-up who deals with a tragic family losing and the responsibilities of being a parent, verbally smacks down the Watcher's council and faces the most powerful Big Bad so far.
Then there's her sacrifice at the end and her speech to Dawn.

Certainly in my watch-through she hasn't disappointed yet. She's awesome and she looks great. 🙂

A perfect summary couldn't have said it better myself.
My very own Sophie's choice... I jest of course, but truth is I really can't pick. Buffy is my favorite and is always my favorite so in one way or another she always shines for me. The one exception might be season 7, I feel like she's kind of off all through that season, but that might be because I think that whole season is off.

Can I answer seasons 1-6? 😛

Buffy is always awesome in one way or another. She's my favourite character and so I think I have quite a Buffy centric view of most events. I can nearly always see where she's coming from and find myself siding with her even when a lot of other people don't like what she's doing / saying. This includes Season 7 for me. I think she's still suffering from the previous year and is feeling the burden of the responsibility but still handles herself well for the most part.
 
Season 5, mainly because she sacrifices herself in order to protect her sister and she isn't distracted by any boyfriend of hers for a good part of the season.
 
IMO - it's a tie between seasons 2 & 3. Season 4 didn't have very good villains, but had great character development (especially for Willow). Season 5 had one of the better villains, but was also saddled with Dawn, neutered Spike & a drawn out Riley Finn story line. On one hand both seasons 4 & 5 had arguably the best 2 episodes in the series (Hush & The Body). However, the writing overall wasn't quite up to par with seasons 2 or 3. To be fair, the writing wasn't a huge step down like it was by seasons 6 or 7, though. A lot of that can be attributed to Whedon being less & less involved with Buffy due to his other projects post season 3. Plus I think that the dynamics of the high school years really worked well for the show.
 
Oops, just realized I misread thread title as meaning: best season of Buffy the show. 😳
 
I went with S5 even though it's my least favorite season, I think Buffy is just strongest in this season.Buffy has to deal with a lot, and she still continues to fight, and then sacrifices herself in the end. Plus she looks her best, imo. lol
 
S2 for the best Human!Buffy Season (also best BestFriend!Buffy Season). S3 for best Slayer!Buffy. And I'm not picking between the two. I disregard anything post S4 anyway since I have no connection to Dawnverse!Buffy. And I just love pre-Dawnverse Buffy so much that I actually don't want to pick a Season, period.
