Best Season of Angel

Angel Season three was by far the best in my mind, and also the darkest, but I like dark. Anyways my reasons:

-Seeing Darla pregnant was amusing
-Very interesting storyline anyone could get hooked on
-Angel losing Connor, very dramatic moment
-Angel strangling Wesley with a pillow after kidnapping his son, that was just over-the-top funny
-The Dramatic episode where Darla stakes herself
-Skip, very cool demon, too bad he worked for Jasmine
 
I agree Season 3 is the best but you left out all my reasons lol
-Lots of awesome Cangel scenes and kisses!!!
-Cordy/Angel scenes with Baby Connor
-BABY CONNOR!! lmao
-Darla!!
-Angel and Cordy realizing they love eachother!

I agree with all these, all moments I liked a lot during this season for different reasons

I really like this moment too but funny, no, not so much.
It's truly disturbing and upsetting to me, I truly love the way DB sells it.


The worst part of this season is Cordy's 'mirror' conversation with herself and later on with Skip. It never fails to make me cringe, did Charisma phone that in? Cause it's just... not her best.

Yeah, Charisma's acting in "Tomorrow" did seem a bit off.
I find it so much more difficult to choose favourite AtS season than BtVS season. Despite moments of greatness, each season of AtS has serious faults to it. For example, I like S2 a lot but that lull in the middle where "dark Angel" is moping about Darla destroys the momentum so much for me that I couldn't sall S2 my favourite. I think I'd have to agree with you and say S3, but it's an imperfect season too. It just averages out higher than the others, I think.

I must confess that the moment of Angel smothering Wesley is one of my least favourite moments in the whole season, and again it's DB's performance... I don't know - it strikes me as thuggish. His choice of language is much more 'street' than Angel ever is. Okay, he's apoplectic with anger. I get that. I'm fine with having him try to smother Wesley. But I'm just not impressed with how the scene is written. It always leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

I agree completly season three is by far the best and all your reason hits mine to the dot but I wanna inculde a few:

-The flashbacks of Darla/Angel were very interesting
-Darla biting Cordelia that was a bit amusing (How could she not see that coming)
- The character holtz, his storline was interesting and dramatic. It was heartbraking to learn of what Angel and Darla did to his son.
- The scene where Holtz has to kill his sired daughter, that is so heartbreaking.

I give season three 10/10
 
This is my second favorite season!

I love Darla being pregnant, the Cangel action, and the story arc too.

However, at the end of this season Cordy begins to go downhill.....
 
Best season is four, and it could have been even better if not for the lame Jasmine arc! Season three comes second for me. I thought some of the first episodes were average, but once Holtz got there it got much more interesting!

I agree with this.

I have to disagree with others though- I do like Holtz. I'm not sure I like the storyline at all. I'll let you know when I get there in my current re-watch. 😉
 
This is maybe the best season. It is so hard for me to choose with Angel because I love all the seasons so much.
I do think the Connor,Darla and Angel storyline was brilliant.
Also the beginning of Cangel a bit.
I never liked Holtz but his episodes were important to the story. That scene at the end when Connor is born man that was a good one.
I think this one and maybe season five or four are my favorites. On my re-watch I will say the others are my favorite. I am so all over the place lol.
 
I really felt the show became what it was meant to be in this season. I always felt that the first 2 years were kind of the growing pains and that the show blossomed by the time it hit its third year. Dark Wesley (AWESOME job, Denisof), Cordy-Angel romantic tension, Fred's integration, Darla (Love Julie Benz), and Angel becoming a father was compelling to watch. I'm not a Connor fan but I love what happened with Angel by getting a son. Justine intrigued me, too. And Lilah got to shine all on her own, without Lindsey. Oh - Lindsey/Wesley? Awesome. Granted, that started later but ... yes, I love this season. Dark, compelling, and beautiful.
 
Season 3 was epic, and I do mean epic when witnessing it unfold on The WB. Truly the most amazing broadcast television experience I've ever had. It cemented my love of both the series and Angel himself, someone I hold very near and dear to me. One of my biggest regrets of this whole Buffyverse is that I didn't see Buffy when it began, but a few years later when it hit the rerun schedules in 2001, when this season premiered. So I saw this season each week and caught up on Buffy - all the events and characters I'd missed or didn't understand - and what I felt going through this season 3 made me regret missing all those major events in Buffy seasons 2 and 3, which I consider my two favorite seasons of the series. The cliffhangers, the agony of waiting for the hiatus periods to end...the sheer torture of waiting to see what would happen in season 4, given the hell Angel was put through in the ultimate of cliffhanger season enders...I'm getting all nostalgic and a little misty-eyed here. Damn.
 
Whoops, I realized that I mistyped "I do like Holtz". That should have definitely read: "I do NOT like Holtz". Now the rest of it makes sense. 😉

I actually do not like the cliffhanger. Thank god I've got Netflix so I can instantly go on to season 4 to see the resolution LOL. That would've been torture if i had been watching it when it was originally aired. That was probably the hugest cliffhanger in the Buffyverse. Even Buffy dying in The Gift wasn't torturous: I mean, she was dead.

And of course, Cordy ascending. Sigh. Leading to of course not my favorite storyline [Jasmine]. I didn't mind Cordy becoming part-demon, I just thought the ascending to a higher plane was lame.
 
The thing about DVD and streaming and all of that is, and it's the very reason I regret not watching Buffy when it originally aired on The WB, is that when you're seeing the show on its own, no previews, no 'stay tuned for scenes from next weeks all new...' and no gaps of time between seasons unless you impose them yourself, is that it can lose a lot of the suspense, the excitement, and most of all the sense of anticipation. Revisiting season 3 when it came out on DVD was a massive difference compared to The WB's first-run broadcast, because while it was very, very difficult having to wait to see "Forgiving" after several weeks of agony seeing the end of "Sleep Tight", and then of course the season finale and having to wait from mid-May all the way until early October to see the season 4 premiere, "Deep Down", it was a great feeling because of that anticipation, that build-up. It made the show all the more exciting and fueled the need to tune in to see what would happen next. It's such a shame that it can't be recreated fully with DVD and streaming, but that's the power of television itself, I guess.

This is so very true! I've always wished that I had gone to the effort of watching it as it came out like I did with Buffy. I remember between Buffy Season 5 and 6 being so excited about how they were going to bring Buffy back.

I do love Season 3, there are some things about it that is just fantastic. It's not my favourite Season though, I'm sorry to say that I'm very much a Season 5 fiend.

I can't stand the horrible-ness of Cangel though, so I find those aspects of Season 3 a bit difficult to stomach.
