Difficult choice huh! I voted S6 because I love the 1st episode with Buffy coming back to life, and the last ones with Big Bad Willow. And the musical too. And the trio. Well S6 is the best for me :balloon:

Season 1: I get why it's nobody's favourite, but people get down on it so much and I don't think it was that bad. It was very demon of the week, but it was funny and interesting and introduced the characters and their motives very well. It lacked some production value but that's budget not incompetance.

Season 2: Used to be my favourite season when I was a Bangel, and I still like it a lot, but now I appreciate Angelus a lot more and the triangle between the 3 vampires. I didn't like how much Buffy blamed herself for Angel going evil and I didn't like anyone else implying it was her fault. She slept with her boyfriend, it was going to happen sooner or later she couldn't have known what was going to happen.

Season 3: Love Faith and love the season. It's not very strong with stand alones but the arc is great and the relationships between all the characters are now very dense and interesting. Also what's more badass than all the students fighting at graduation?

Season 4: Probably the best season for stand alones, probably becuase the arc lacked a little something something. I don't really start to hate Riley until the end of the season so it's all okay there. Not much else to say except hilarious/wonderful episodes.

Season 5: Glory herself left a little something to be desired for me, but I really like the arc anyway. I also found it interesting (clearly I'm now a Spuffy) that Spike fell in love with Buffy. Especially because it just seemed to make sense. Joss always says he realized that Spike was in love with Buffy, it wasn't just contrived he just realized it, and I totally get it. I also love the Dawn storyline. Like many others I hated Dawn in the beginning but she has grown on me and I relate her a lot more now, and I relate to Buffy a lot and I get why she loves her so much.

Season 6: So from what I can tell is that people love it or hate it. I think it's good. I'm not a Spuffy person that's like "Yay they get it on!" I think they're relationship was problematic at best and horrible at normal, but still important. I think it was important to give the scoobies real problems that people face in life. And those nerds were effin' hilarious.

Season 7: This is what I picked as my favourite. Mainly because I can't choose and this is the best season for Spuffy. I think they left a lot of storylines unfinished and that bugged me but all in all it came full circle and was a great season.

best seasonal critiques I have seen yet. I couldn't agree more!!!
Season 6 definitely. No bad episodes. Every single thing about it is just great. Plus, it has OMWF and the Dark Willow episodes.

I voted Season 2. It is my favorite. I am a huge Bangel mark if that explains it. Innocence/Passion/Becoming Part 2 just kill.

I do believe that Season 3 is when the writing, production, and everything else came together perfectly. So season 3 may be the best season, but it is not my favorite. (I do so love the Faith character though).

My wife, who granted has not seen every episode, continues to state Season 5 as the best. I think it is a combination of the storyline, the concepts of family (gaining Dawn, losing Joyce, etc) and Glory as the big bad.

And I agree that Season 1 gets a bad rap. It isn't that bad, and since the show 'seems' so new and everything isn't sorted-out yet, I certainly don't mind watching those episodes.

I picked season 3. It really gelled well for me. All the characters showed amazing growth, there was crazy pain, betrayal, love, tears... and at the end of it all, the Scoobies still walked into the sunset... darkness... together.

Season two was my favorite, but there was barely anything in it between that and season 3.
Season two was just more epic.
Season one was a little too cheesy, season 4 had the initiative, season 5 got a little dull in parts, season 6 also dragged on a bit and then suddenly got really good at the end, season seven was really good but just didn't seem epic enough for a final season.

I love S6, but seriously, no bad episodes? IMO, "DoubleMeat Palace" is pretty close to rock bottom for the entire show, not just for the season.

DMP was rather lame.
I chose episode three. There's just so many episodes I love in it. Like Band Candy . . .and Earshot . . . and Doppelgangland. Plus the Mayor. My brother in law is watching season three for the first time and he calling me and asking what's up with the Mayor. I enjoy this.

But I liked Doublemeat Palace...

And, like many others, S1 definitely gets a bad wrap. Honestly, it's probably my third favorite season. Every episode is just rock solid. It was like Joss thought, "Oh dang, we gotta make these epy's kickass, or we're off the air". And while some episodes might not be TOO great, there was still something enjoyable about them in the end. Plus, S1 had "The Pack". The best episode in all of Buffy imo. Also, it has Prophecy Girl, probably the best finale in all of Buffy. (Well, Next to Becoming 🙂 )

you really are one to hold the unpopular opinion. I like that! :D
I voted season 6, just because it was a lot darker, mature and more adult which was really good to see and show how much the scoobies really were struggling.

Oh god, Firefly is SO good!!
My favorite seasons are 2,3, and 6, but I'd have to go with Season 3 for the best of all. I thought Season 3 had some of the best writing the show's seen, and I loved the standalone eps as well as the storyline with Faith and The Mayor. So gotta go with S3. 🙂

Two or three, take your pick!

Although I'll vote three for the almost complete lack of poor episodes and for being the final series of the real BTVS.

S5 having more than s3 isn't suprising to me, what suprises me is that s6 has more votes than both of them. Really? S6 more popular than 3 and 5?

I'd rate S6 clearly better than S5 (but with my hate of Joyce, it's little wonder S5 isn't my fave 😉 ). And with S3 having the highest density of great episodes, plus the Faith arc (with so many Faith-lovers around), I would have expected it to rate higher! In fact, if I didn't think S2 had the best - arc - ever, I'd go for S3 as my fave, myself.
