Best Season Villain

The Mayor is a great villain but I find the final battle and his ultimate defeat rather anticlimactic. The big group battle scene was super underwhelming and it seems like the explosives were a pretty cheap way of getting rid of what was supposed to be a pure blooded old one.

I think Glory is the best villain. I think the battle against her was executed much better and you really feel the desperation of the situation.

grad day battle was epic! all the students in on it, eclipse, flaming arrows, Buffy running through the halls and the school blown up! What more could you want/expect?? And the explosives were the only way to destroy demon mayor! other than volcano
I agree, I think The Mayor was a compelling villain and I like it when the big bads have some type of human connection, that's why Angelus would be my second favourite big bad.
 
Buffy villains really do suffer from the production standards of SFX television at the time. I mean, one of the things I hate most about Picard is that this quiet "Old Man Picard" series of a retired admiral trying to deal with the ghosts of his career keeps ending on a massive interdimensional battle against entire civilizations of killer cyborgs, but it is really impressive what they can do with modern budgets.

I would say the Snake was pretty bad, but it wasn't on camera very long, and it did look sort of impressive. The other bad part were the Swordfight in Season 2, where the Stunt people show up, like it's the old Star Trek series where someone who kind of looks like William Shatner gets tagged in. But overall, the only one that really shows the limits of the budget was Season 4's foil warehouse army base.
 
Angelus was delightful for his wickedness being the anti-Angel but the Mayor had a little humanity which made him interesting. Glory was gloriously crazy, which i just love! Honorable mention to Spike and Dru!

The rest - i liked dark willow but i dont really count her - the master and Adam were dull, the first wasnt that great either - and i absolutely hated the nerd trio.

I don't even think I can count Warren, Jonathon and Andrew (i.e. the Trio, Troika, or whatever) as big bads
Glory, the Mayor and Angelus are my favourites, though which at any time depends on my mood. Dru and Spike were a great part-season combination and Spike was never as good as he was then. The Master and Adam (season four is one of my favourites for individual, stand-alone episodes however) are okay. Hated everything that was classed as a villain in season six and the First Evil was the return of a monster of the week so boring I'd forgotten it even existed. I can still only remember bits about the First Yawn from season seven references; it looks like they had (still) run out of ideas for big bads and looked through surviving MotWs for one. Given most died, not a lot to choose from.

I'd also add Caleb, but not technically a big bad. Special mention to him anyway.
 
The Mayor always been one of my favorite Big Bads. He was just so delightfully evil. ๐Ÿ˜€
