Hi everyone!

So I was wondering, what shows did you think had the best serie`s finale!? There`s a lot of shows that I love but I get very disappointed with how the show actually ends. The only ones that I can think of right now that didn`t disappoint me are Buffy, Angel and South of Nowhere.

The only truly great finale I can think of right now is Blackadder Goes Forth.

I had never heard of that show, I googled it and it seems really interesting! Would you say it`s worth watching?

Definitely, but I would suggest watching the first 3 series beforehand

When my schedule isn't so busy I might give it a go! I'm always looking for new shows to watch!
I'm tempted to say start from Blackadder II - series one is very different from the ones that followed and each series is a different set of characters so you don't need to have seen series one which is a lot less funny.

Life On Mars (UK original - I haven't seen the US remake) had a great finale I thought. Although its spin-off Ashes To Ashes more or less ruined all the good work.

Thanks for the input!
The Angel finale "Not Fade Away" is my single favorite episode of T.V. of all time. Just love it. I think it encapsulates the message of the series perfectly. It's incredibly inspiring, the character resolutions are brilliant. I only have one tiny complaint about it (no Buffy), but other than that, it's just about perfect.

The LOST finale is amazing. I know it experienced a bit of a mixed reaction, but I loved it. I connected a lot with Jack Shepherd and his journey, and the end of it all was exactly what I was hoping for. Same with Kate. It really means a lot to me.

Those are the two big ones I can think of right now.

Completely agree about Angel, I love the open ending! It was absolutely perfect in every sense, probably the best ending I've seen, well ever!

I'll need to rewatched Lost, when it first aired I lost interest about half way through the serie and stopped watching, I heard by most that the serie's finale was shit so I never bothered, but lately I've been hearing different opinions about it, so once I have the time I might give that a go.

From back in my youth, most of you never saw it, but you're probably familiar with the movie based on it, "The Fugitive." Dr Richard Kimble, falsely accused of murder, chases the One Armed Man, and is, in turn, chased by Lt Gerard. The last two episodes were a two part, with Kimble finally catching his wife's real killer with the assistance of Gerard, plus he is reunited with his old high school sweetheart. I think that the final two shows of the season were the most watched 2 hours in TV history at the time.

On the other hand (though it isn't part of the question, I just HAVE to mention it) the absolutely weirdest, and disappointing series finale was a medical show called "St Elsewhere." The last few minutes of the finale revealed that the entire series was just the dream of an autistic child. That was the original "WTF" moment.

I`ve heard of St Elsewhere, people were NOT happy with the ending, but I've never watched it
Buffy and Angel's ones are almost perfect for me and well, let's say that "House" is not too bad either

I forgot about House, I absolutely loved the finale, it was very House like, in fact the final season is one of my favourite, I cried like a baby with the
cancer
storyline.

I was personally very happy with the Smallville finale. It's probably tied for my favorite with Angel.

I think the worst finale I've seen (of shows that I loved) was the Nip/Tuck finale.

I don't even remember Nip/Tuck's finale, that says a lot...
I think my favorite series finale has to be Leverage. The whole episode was just perfect, and I bawled like a baby all the way through it on Christmas night. It ended the story for the characters amazingly well and let the story continue for the 'next generation' and I couldn't have asked for anything better.

Well, no, a Season 6 would have been better, but I honestly don't think there could have been anything more perfect than what we got.

Hmmm, the only one that I can think of right now would have to be Six Feet Under 🙂

There are probably other shows that I'm forgetting, but it's the only one that comes to mind where I have been almost 100% satisfied. The episode itself is good, but its that last scene that makes it great. The first time I saw it I cried, and immediately had to watch that last scene again.

the six feet under one was great
Smallville was great.

But my single favorite episode finale ever has to be Fringe. Bawled my eyes out
when Walter died and the world came back to what it was and Etta came back
The entire 5th season had me on the edge of my seat actually. Great ending for a great show.

Yeah the Lost season finale I found sort of weird but as a whole the show was great...

The Friends series finale I thought was great 😀

Smallville and Six Feet Under would have to be my favourites, though I haven't actually watched many series that are completely finished. I thought Smallville was really uplifting and happy, and Six Feet Under left me kinda empty inside 😀. The ending montage was fantastic, though.

I could add Gilmore Girls to the list, when you forget the fact that
Rory and Lorelai both end up alone...

Without comparing shows's finales to another's finale.. I think Dawson's Creek had a great finale for its six year run.
With the incredibly sad Jenn-video scene and Joey picking Pacey while Dawson gets his dream job finally. Jack happily out of the closet.
Some shows end on an off note or without wrapping everything up. I think this one did great.

Another a few have mentioned that I agree with is Six Feet Under with it's
showing how everyone died. The show never rushed everything so it never led you to believe something grand would happen at the end. Instead the jump forward to show you the on-going theme of death with all the main characters. Many in random ways, some showing how they eventually gain happiness and some sweet.

I think Buffy was great. While things could have led up to the end differently or played out different.. I think it still was rather grande and epic. Killer ending.

Angel was another finale. I enjoyed the
open ending.

My favourite series finale of all time is the AtS finale. Not Fade Away is one of those perfect finales that just sums up the theme of the show so beautifully. AtS was always about fighting the good fight, regardless of whether evil could be overcome (if nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do) and Not Fade Away emphasises that perfectly.

My other favourite would be the LOST finale, which is probably at the top of the list for emotional trauma. I think I cried for about half the episode and was trying not to cry for the other half. I loved all the reunions in the flash-sideways (especially the Suliet reunion, which turns me into a quivering mess curled up in the fetal position on the floor every time I watch it) and the closing shot of Jack's eye mirroring the opening shot of the series is wonderful.
