I know this is probably the been done a thousand times on here, but I am curious. What is your lists of best to worst seasons and why.
Mine:

Season 3: Because when most people think of Buffy it is what they think of. It was the true essence of Buffy. All the video games, most books, etc. are all based off this. It was hilarious, had amazing acting scenes, and the best overall arc. It seemed to me to be the most thought out and unfolding arc.

Season 2: Again very similar to why I chose season 3 as #1. It was the core of Buffy. Everyones characters where becoming fully defined and again had amazing acting scenes.

Season 5: Its high on the list because it got back to what people love about Buffy. The acting was probably the best of all the seasons. Sarah's performance in the body was chilling. It is hard putting this season third, its almost a tie with season 2. It has allot of stand out episodes. But Glory could not act! When she says "Ima..Ima..Ima god" I get so annoyed, it sounds so cheesy lol.

Season 7: I loved this seasons story, but the individual episodes weren't to great (compared to other seasons lol still better then anything nonBuffy). It was the only season that I watched as it aired because I am only 19. I actually found myself not caring if I missed an episode. I was so shocked cause at the time i was still Buffy obsessed. The overall arc was exciting. But again the individual episodes weren't. Allot of things bothered me, as I know all of you. Especially the uber vamps being so weak at the end. Also, even though for the finale it was good, I dont think the "every potential is a slayer!" thing was good in the long run. I think season 8 would be much better without it. I like feeling like Buffy and Faith are special.

Season 1: It started it all and still entertains me. It focused allot on the monster aspect which I liked. I liked it focusing on Vampires, because eventually Buffy the Vampire Slayer lost the Vampire. Some of the acting was HORRIBLE and lines sounded very corney. Despite that you could really see glimpses of how the actors would eventually shine.

Season 6: I just get uneasy watching it. I like the scoobies being the scoobies. I didn't like Buffy being so apathetic and numb. I like the fact that it pushed the characters and that it was different and more mature, but it still just didnt feel right. It has some great episodes and awesome acting, especially willow, Buffy, and Spike. But the arc was stupid, Willow had to go bad, thats all okay, but the nerds (though sometimes funny) just annoyed me.

Season 4: It gets a bad rep and I know people who say it is their fav, but its not mine. Everyone is split (which I never like). Again I know it had a purpose (high school friends in college) but that doesnt mean I have to like it lol. It had some good episodes and was really funny at times. BUT I HATE THE INITIATIVE! It was sooo cheesy and it just didn't fit. Adam was just dumb, and the whole season at times was just corney. It is no where near up to par with the other seasons.

So there it is, my views. Don't get me wrong I love all of the seasons! But comparing them to each other, there are obviously better and worse.

S2 : Best. Arc. Ever. Also, I simply love the highschool years - even though I know (and am glad, of course) that they couldn't "simpson it" and keep the Scoobs in Highschool forever, I was very sad about the change of S3 into 4.

S3 : See above re: Highschool year, and an amazing density of excellent episodes.

S6 : It's dark, it's different, it's often enough uneasing to watch... but the arc of descent into addiction for Will, and dealing with depression for Buffy just hit home so much for me that I can't help but have an uneasy love for the season. Also, Darth Rosenberg = best big bad. And it has the absolute best introduction of the "little bad". I mean, come on, Jonathan in a geek's basement as a Lord of Evil! :lmao:

S4 : Sucky Big Bad, stupid Initiative, boring Riley... and as I said, the first "they're not in HS anymore" season. However, the season has some GREAT eps (Hush, Restless, the Faith two-parter, Superstar) - and of course, it gave us Tillow!

S5 : Too much Joyce in this Season to rate higher for me, but I liked Dawn (after getting over the initial shock) and the entire Ben-Glory thing. Also, you had demented people strolling around Sunnydale, how cool is that? :rolleyes0

S7 : First half was certainly cool enough, but after that the plot really got cluttered and chaotic. And I hate Killow.

S1 : It's too short, and it's a bit cheap-ish compared to the other seasons. About half the eps are just so-so... and we all know from the later Seasons that BTVS can do better than that.

Season 3: Season 3's arc is just incredible. Faith and the Mayor were just awesome Big Bads, there was a perfect mix of humor and drama...hell, I can't think of a bad thing about it.

Season 6: I adore season 6. It's got some of the best episodes ever, and the more I watch it, the more I love it. A lot of people complain about how dark this season is, but I thought it was great. I loved how there wasn't a set "Big Bad," I loved how they all had to cope with the real world, and, of course, I loved the Trio. And then there's the other thing people complain about...Spuffy. At first, I didn't really like how Buffy was using Spike, but when I rewatched it for the first time, I realized how great their dynamic was in this season. Now that I've seen it a couple of times, I'm definitely 100% Spuffy. Oh, and I liked the Evil Willow arc. I'd be the first to say it wasn't exactly the most brilliant thing they came up with, but still, it was loads of fun. What can I say? I have a weak spot for those cool fights where people throw fireballs and lightning at each other.

Season 2: I'd say this is tied with season 5 for my second favorite (yes, I have two #1 and #2 seasons. I'm an indecisive person.). The first half of the season was pretty good, but nothing to brag about/ You could tell they were still easing out of the "Monster of the Week," season 1 formula. Then, from Surprise until the end, nearly every episode was just brilliant (ever major arc episode, anyway. Phases was just okay and Killed by Death and Go Fish were awful. Especially the latter.) Angelus was probably the best Big Bad the show ever had, and Passion was the first episode of any TV show to make me cry.

Season 5: I've noticed that, the more I rewatch this season, the more I love it. It has a very different feel from the other ones...it's very bright and happy (or maybe it's just because they hang out in the brightly-colored magic shop all the time.) Anyway, there was just so much to love in it. My two favorite Buffy ships were at their best (Xanya and Tillow! Yay!), the major arc and Big Bad were great in spite of that "Glory-can't-act" thing, it had lots of humor and drama, it had most incredible, emotionally draining episode of any show ever (I mean The Body, of course), and The Gift was the best arc-closer the show ever had (I didn't say "season finale" because I prefer Restless.)

Season 4: The main arc and Big Bad just suck. Fortunately, season 4 had almost had enough great standalones (Something Blue, Hush, Pangs, the This Year's Girl/Who Are You? two-parter, Restless, etc.) to make up for it. Almost. Oh, and it gets credit for introducing Tillow and having the show's best season finale.

Season 7: Loved the first half, but, after the Potentials came in, it just became a bit cluttered and messy. Oh, and, like most other Buffy fans, I loathe Killow.

Season 1: It's just uncomfortable to watch. It's so different from the rest of the show, and not in a good way, which is why, when I get people to watch it, I have them start at School Hard. It's SO campy, lacks the depth that the other seasons had, and the Master is just plain boring.

season 2
the first season that was good and it was really good with that Angelus stuff, Faith going bad in s3 can't compare

season 3
had almost no bad episodes, with most of the episodes being really strong, but the really great thing is the Faith/Mayor

season 5
really tough year for Buffy because everything went wrong for her, but brilliantly done, The Body and The Gift were both fantastic, I liked Spike's crush on Buffy and Glory was a great villain

season 4
Intiative/Adam stuff stuffed, but all the episodes without them were great

season 1
very uneven because the show was finding it's footing, but some really good stuff, like the beginning of Bangel

season 6
a bit too dark, not enough fun stuff, I hate Spuffy, but Dark Willow was great

season 7
the beginning was good, but the First Evil were terrible villains, they couldn't touch anyone, they just sent lame minions to do their work and every episode after Bring It On was about them

Season 3
Overall I think it was the most consistent season in terms of quality

Season 2
Probably the most emotional season for me, and the one with the most nostalgia value...

Season 4
So underrated...great character stuff.

Season 5
Best villain, great arc...

Season 6
After multiple viewings I don't find it as strong as I initially did, but there's some great material here and I enjoyed the darker elements.

Season 1
Light and frothy with a bit of cheese, but it's quintessential Buffy! The beginning of it all...it's so...sweet

Season 7
My feelings go back and forth, but it's unquestionably the worst season of the show. Such a shame...if Joss had been pouring the effort into this instead of Firefly it coulda gone out with an earth-shattering bang.

Season 2-Best season! I love how innocent Buffy/the "Slayerettes" seem, and I really like the Angel storyline.... Also, Willow is so cute in hgh school!
Season 6-Funny! Great quotes, great outfits(they got a STYLIST!) and Andrew amused me ("That'll do, pig!"). Also, this is when Spike and BUffy hook up, and who doesnt like to see Spike unclothed? ;]
Season 3-Faith is introduced....Now I know a lot of people hate Faith because she's trashy, she goes bad, she tries to take Buffy's place, etc. But I thought she was a really complex character, and I liked how they developed her throughout the season.
Season 5-GLORY! Glory is my favorite villian of ANY show, simply because she is sooooo bad at being a villian! When she doesnt get her way, she cries and moans and pouts....I thought it was great to see someone so not in control trying to be. The only bad thing about this season....Dawn acts like she is 5.
Season 7-I'm sorry, but in this season, Buffy is a "bitca". Seriously. I didnt like this side of her at all, and it ruined most of this season for me. The reason I liked this show in the first place is because she was funny, sarcastic, and sometimes a little naive. In this season, she lost all of that.
Season 1-I like to go back and laugh at the vampire teeth through this whole season. they're great. Enormous, but great.
Season 4-AUGH! RILEY! ICK! Ick, i have never understood the appeal of the corn-fed Iowa boy. For starters, he and Buffy start off their relationship by LYING to eachother. And then the storyline with Walsh and Adam and the initiative is just too weird....

Season 6/7 - My favorite seasons, and they're tied. Both are excellent, I love almost everything about them -- although it does bug me how suddenly magic is likened to drugs after five seasons.

Season 3 - Started out with an excellent episode, ended with one too. And, hello, Faith.

Season 5 - *shrug*

Season 2 - The first half is not that great, about equal to season one. The second half is much better, but the Angelus storyline is overrated IMO.

Season 4 - Great standalones, but the first time I watched season four I hated The Initiative storyline, but it's since grown on me.

Season 1 - Loved the Master but season one is just not great television. Fun and campy, but the show definitely took off in it's second season.
