Well, going off the earlier thread of best weapon used to stake a vampire, let's do another one!

What do you think the best weapon used on the show to take out a vamp or demon was?

For me, it has got to be the rocket launcher. That is probably my most favorite scene in the entire series, when we see Buffy on top of the snack machine at the mall, Xander hands her the rocket launcher and she blows The Judge to smithereens!

Awesome.

Any others?

Angel was getting really skilled with the small implements towards the end. Taking down a werewolf with a pen. Offing that necromancer's butler with a spoon.

The most common weapon used, of course, was the plain ol' wooden stake, both in its regular version and the improvised variety Buffy was so adept in either finding or creating on the spot. Being an edged weapons enthusiast, my favorite would be the sword, closely followed by the axe. Also, like Faith I believe big knives similar to her jackal or one of the big choppers like a Bowie or a kukri would be great for their versatility and concealability (I've never been able to figure out how Buffy, Angel, and all the others get away with walking around with three foot broadswords. They must take lessons from the Macleods.) For something with a bit more range, a long bow would be my choice over a crossbow because of its greater speed with a second or third shot (crossbows are basically one shot deals in the real world. They're much too slow to reload)

Moving into the twentieth century, while the rocket launcher, or a good flame thrower would work well, we still have to contend with that matter of carrying them around in public places, like the distance between cemetaries and outside alleys and such. A large bore handgun with a variety of ammunition suited for the various beasties around the hellmouth would suit me quite well.

(I realize that the discussion was supposed to be about the most popular weapon was on the show, but I just couldn't resist tossing my own opinions in there. Please forgive me if you find it objectionable)

haha i liked the hydraulic thing buffy used to decapitate a demon when she worked with xander in construction. that was really.. .. disturbing but cool!

Faith's knife, hands down. It's design was so freaking cool! Although the stake and scythe rock, too. One of my favorites, though, was the handled axe in Selfless. When Buffy and Xander go to kill the spider. It always looked cool to me.

And the rocket launchers an obvious choice, as well.

im not sure what the best is, but just to toss another cool weapon into the mix, i think buffy was awesome hefting olaf's troll hammer and whacking glory in the face with it. im sure there are a ton of cool ones, but they've used so many weapons in the buffyverse, and i can only think some right now.

how about the hunga munga or whatever it was called. the weapon from 'Anne' i though that was pretty cool.

but i'm gonna have to go with the rocket launcher. it was just so for out there it was unbelievable! how would have thought Buffy would use a rocket launcher for anything?! i especially like how she appeared to hang on to it, and decided to use it to take out Principle Wood in 'Him' lol

Lots of creative decapitations...a drum set cymbal, a coroner's bone saw, slamming a car door...that one's gotta take some Spider-Man kinda strength.

i LOVED the car door :D
the rocket launcher is a classic. and asides from the scythe and obvious Mr. Pointy, how about the winnabego (did i spell that right?) in "spiral." technically it was a weapon-- at least according to spike: " 'we need weapons'... 'you're driving one!' " also, the wrecking ball in "the gift." c'mon, you can't tell me you didn't jump out of your seat throwing your fist in the air when xander drove a wrecking ball into glory! (y'all didn't?... am i the only one?... huh, not embarrassed at all. it was an awesome moment)
