Which villain was the better actress?

Clare Kramer as Glory
or
Alyson Hannigan as Dark Willow

I think Alyson pips it, but they're different performances really. Clare Kramer really hams it up with a scenery chewing, campy, more comedic performance as Glory, whereas Alyson Hannigan plays Dark Willow quippy, but straight.

So I think it's hard to compare them, but as actors go, Alyson is outright better.

Alyson Hannigan is better, she's a great actress. Clare Kramer relishes the role of Glory, but it is very one note, whereas Dark Willow is far more layered and complicated. This is probably in the writing, but part of it must be what the actress brings to the role. Plus, of course Alyson has had years of playing Willow, of creating that character, to get her to this point.

Personally I prefer Kramer's portrayal of Glory. For me she's the best thing about season 5 and probably the later seasons in general.

Although I find Glory fun, I rarely find her threatening or even scary.
Alyson's better aty exuding menace- either as a vampire or as scary, veiny wicca.

So in terms of acting I'd go with Alyson- becausse she can do wacky comedy and flay a guy alive.

Don't think there's too much in it. I mean Kramer has presence as Glory and certain things she does is threatening, but it is a more ironic performance than Hannigan as Dark Willow. Its hard to compare considsidering the difference in screentime, but I would go for Hannigan just.

they are two different kinds of villains so it's not easy to compare. I liked CC more. AH is a great actress but I was not convinced by her acting in a dark role, she is better in other things imo

One downside to Dark Willow was that it relied too much on effects. I liked more when she was allowed to show personality or kick arse. Vamp Willow I liked more on the whole.

agreed. she was awesome as Vamp Willow. as Dark Willow my issue has also to do with her face, it's too cute

Glory and Dark Willow are very different villains. I'll go with Hannigan because we can see the change between Willows. Kramer is great as Glory though, and makes the character likeable.

I don't feel like there's enough material to make a fair comparison. Glory didn't grow and change. We didn't get a before/after. When you have an actor and they only have to play one note no matter how well they play it the one who plays 15 looks like a virtuoso in comparison.

I agree with those who have said Vamp Willow > Dark Willow.

I like Alyson more in general, but Kramer did a good job as Glory, albeit rather one note as some have said.

I will go with Clare Kramer. Alyson Hannigan is usually great, but Dark Willow just reminded me of Darlene from Roseanne with a less sharp wit.

I think both were well done. Some people say that Clare Kramer is a bad actress and that I don't understand. I thought she was really great as Glory. I love Dark Willow, but she was somewhat different from what I was expecting. I was expecting insane fury and rage, but her attitude was kind of all over the place...sometimes quippy, sometimes stone faced...it was an interesting look at Willow, but not the more over the top, exaggerated personality that I was expecting, such as Glory or Vamp Willow. And I agree; Vamp Willow was far more engaging than Dark Willow. Still, Alyson Hannigan is definitely the better actress: even with Dark Willow she manages slight personality and attitude changes that I'm not sure Clare could do convincingly. Who knows?

I have to say Clare Kramer. Alyson Hannigan was good but unlike Vamp Willow Dark Willow lacked something.

Clare Kramer for me as well. Dark Willow didn't convince at all, she was more silly/embarrassing than menacing. While this is true for Kramer as well at least Glory was supposed to be campy and fun, and when she wanted to - in short moments - she had a convincingly menacing intensity.

I tend to think that Dark Willow would have been better with more episodes. I think she should have been the main big bad of the season. So I would have given her at least an eight episode run, maybe even ten or eleven. I liked the idea more than how it played out, although the conclusion to it was good.

Same here & I was a bit mad at them for killing Vamp Willow .
