Thanks to nerd4hire for giving me the idea for this thread. Basicly, which actor is better in your opinion. And we're not basing this on looks, just acting abilities.

I personally think David has the better acting abilities. He can play lots of different emotions and characters and I think he pulls them off great. 😀
 
Ok, I know you're gonna think I'm just being biast because I like James/Spike. But honestly his acting is the REASON I like him so much. I love David but I think that James is by far the better actor.
 
DB is a great actor. Especially as Angelus! But JM just carries such extreme personality in his face and his gait. He just oozes of his character. I think he is a fantastic actor. I actually am EXTREMELY interested in seeing him excelling outside of BTVS/Angel. I hope they both do, but I see great potential for JM!
 
Yeah...the thing I love about him is that he acts with his WHOLE body. He always seems aware of every part of himself from his eyes to his stance...he just puts everything into it. I love that. That is what made him intriguing to me in the first place. You always say things so beautifully Chasity. 🙂

I fell in luv with Angel's chracter on BTVS. I really enjoy him and his presence on screen. I really do feel like I like DB's acting better on his own show though (especially the first two season's) I think JM is great in both world's! JM helps bring you through his experiences so well. From his humor, through his pain, up to his passion-it is just all there with that man! He is just an jaw dropping awesome actor!
 
I thonk Db is better actor,I'm not saying it just coz I'm obsessed with him,but coz I truly believe he can plays almost any character given....

That pretty much sums up my reasons for voting for David as well. Just look at him play Angelus! No one could've played Angelus that good, not even James. They're both really great, but when it comes down to it... and who I think is better, its David every damn time. And I don't base my opinions on me being obsessed, or thinking he's a hottie, I just think he's great.. wait, no I don't... I think he's truly extraodinary, and the only other actors/actress I think are extraodinary are Sarah Michelle Gellar, Audrey Hepburn, Sandra Bullock, Mel Gibson and Julian McMahon. My list is very short, and he's on it. Which should mean something, because he wouldn't be there if I didn't think he was extraodinary.
 
I love DB. I think he's wicked, and so cool, and always there for his fans, but I gotta say James.
At the begining of Buffy, David, was...well he wasnt the best actor...and you gotta cut him some slack, I mean, he hadnt acted before, but I think James has been good throughout, so my vote goes to him...
 
LOL! anna8, the poll isn't going to decide the best over all actor. All it's going to say is wich set of fans happens to participate more in these type of threads. :: wacko2

In fact, that's kinda the same with ANY of these threads that pit our two ensouled vamps against each other... 😛
 
That's a tough one. They are both really fantastic actors. Their characters on Btvs and Ats have gone through so much, relationships, the soul thing, the bad boy thing. We've seen the best and worst of these characters and both James and David have portrayed them perfectly. I really can't tell you who is better b/c they are both so amazing.
 
They are both equally amazing actors. I chose David though cause he has really improved soo much over the years. It's pretty amazing to see the difference between Welcome to the Hellmouth and the lastest episode of Angel. That gives him a little bit of leverage in my book though I think they are both soo talented.
 
James Marsters. Whereas David is capable of playing two completly different characters Angel and Angelus. James has been appointed the task of turning one character totally around, over the years, which seem far more difficult.
 
Personally,I prefer David,the way he can play a sweet,soul-having Angel and then the sarcastic and mean Angelus is amazing...personally I think he could play any role that's thrown at him.
 
I think both of them are amazing actors but all in all, I think David is the better actor. Theres somethin about his acting that I love but I don't know what lol (I'm strange I know lol) I love both actors and think they are both excellent but David gets my vote 🙂
 
I have to say James since I have seen him in different roles, where as David is a good actor but so far he has had all the same roles, hes been the hero and then the villan a crazy one at that.
 
As much as I love DB which is alot btw...I just prefer James's acting abilities more...it was so hard to choose..
 
Its Spike!!...JM! He was a true American accent, and to use a British Accent in the show, thats acting [playing as someone that is somewhat not like you.] David B is a great actor but, overall James has shown that he can play a part and make it great and true to people who view it.
