Better villain: Hamilton from Season 5 of Angel vs Caleb from Buffy Season 7

Both were the villains in the 2nd half of both AtS Season 5 and BtVS Season 7 but which villain did you prefer?

Caleb

Caleb, because he made a stronger first impression. "Dirty Girls" built him up as being absolutely terrifying. Xander knows what I'm talking about...

Hamilton isn't that far behind, though. He had a great final fight with Angel, whereas Buffy managed to defeat Caleb way too easily.

Caleb. I never really cared for Hamilton. Sure he had a good fight with Angel, and both were given these powers by some superior evil. But I think Caleb was a bit more interesting, with the preacher boy aspect.

Hamilton was "ok". But Caleb was much more interesting. The Charakter as a whole and the actor (I really like him).

I also would have enjoyed a fight between these two. That could have been very interesting. 🙂

I didn't really like either despite liking both actors, but I have to go with Hamilton. Caleb was just uninteresting to me.

Caleb, for the sole reason I think Nathan Fillion is a better actor than Adam Baldwin when it comes to portraying evil. He just has that edge. Plus I liked the misogynistic, serial killer, man of God vibe - that was creepy on so many levels - definitely believable that someone like that may exist. Also, he bombed the Watcher's Council!

Hamilton. Caleb was kinda a wuss and a bit lame. Hamilton was just under-developed.

Caleb got some of the better lines and got to beat on three of the most powerful warriors in the Buffyverse. He was defeated by a slayer weilding the ultimate weapon made for her. He was pretty fearsome and creepy and made a solid impression.

Hamilton was ultimately underused and got killed by a vampire because he ran his mouth too much. Nothing sadder than a villain that monlogues himself to death.

Hamilton had the better outfit though. 🙂

I personally thought Hamilton was more intimidating...his quiet but massive self-confidence (the slight smirk on his face every time he spoke to Angel), his patience, etc. I know Caleb was powerful but his preacher boy persona & misogyny appeared to be because of old and deep personal weakness. (possibly, he learned to hate women so much because they probably made him feel insecure, inferior and not good enough when he was young, and probably also as an adult; possibly, he became a preacher because he failed to solve his own problems and essentially requires something else to solve his problems for him, or to at least make Caleb feel that he no longer had to deal with those problems, etc. as a way to abandon responsibility for himself). Caleb is a monster created essentially from weakness, issues that could not be overcome. No matter how strong or powerful a guy like that becomes, they are never really intimidating or scary to me. I can only see Caleb the bed wetting boy behind the facade. I respect (and I'd be much more reluctant to take on) Hamilton's cool confidence, patience and hidden arrogance.

Just as villains though, Caleb was interesting, more interesting than Hamilton, but Hamilton was more intimidating. I agree Hamilton was underused...but Caleb also was underused in some respects.
