When their Jobs require them to take out vampires, or other supernaturals like say Russel, who are relatively financialy affluent, Why not loot them? Its not like they have familys who will need the money,or be waiting for the return of some family heirloom

as for vampires, whenever Buffy staked one, all of its clothes, and everything else that was in contact with it dusted too, including the stake if it weren't pulled back quickly enough. As for any hidden treasures that they might have had, almost certainly, Buffy and the others never knew where it might be. As for the other demons, you have a valid point unless there is some kind of curse on the item.

Probably either Joss didn't want Buffy or the Scoobies to be seen as robbing the dead, or he just plain never thought of it.

Personally, I've always wondered what happened to all of the other treasure in the vault where Spike found the Gem of Amara. Just a few pieces from there would have settled all of Buffy's financial problems in Season 6, and she wouldn't have had to sling burgers for a living.

My guess?

allowing her to do something like that, would have gotten in the way of the "slice of life" feel they were wanting.

Why they have her working as a waitress going to college other "Everyday people stuff"
