First let me say that I apologize if I am not putting this in the correct place. Move it if you have to. I wanted to poll my distinguished group of peers on a show I originally loved as a teenager and now love as an adult. Admittedly, the new 90210 is different but I love it so far. I love that Kelly and Brenda are back. I am absolutely beside myself to find out if Luke Perry will come back as Dillon. Yeah, I love it all. So with that being said does anyone have any idea what I am talking about and if so what are your thoughts?

I love the show, one of my rommies has all the dvd's, we've been slowly making are way through them since college started. We're dressing up as the cast for halloween...I'm gona be Steve lol.

That is delightful
It´s all Lily´s fault!!!

Yes, I´ve seen the the new episodes even though I have too much to watch as it is. Ok, maybe watch is too big of a word but It´s been on while I´m at the computer. It´s not like I love the show but it´s an easy going show to have in the background. The only character I "care" about this far is Silver. Will I continue watching? Maybe, but it´s not like I would lose any sleep if I don´t.

And not trying to be rude again but
Dylan not Dillon.

And about the original seies. I watched it a lot then it aired the first time. Not much else worth watching while it was on. Discussing who was the hottest (Valerie of course even though most people said Kelly...) but it´s not like I´ve seen every episode or feel the need to watch it again.

Oh, and I can´t vote. I know what you´re talking about but I don´t love or hate it.

Terribly sorry ;)

Lily
lol Tobias you love it, I knew you would :D I will take that blame!
It is interesting to me because Shannon Dougherty said today in an interview with Ryan Seacrest that Silver is the character who is really creating buzz and I totally agree. She is a great character and I am curious to see where she goes from here.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT!

Hate it hate it hate it!

Grrrr *calms down*

Yes, I am a hater towards Beverly Hillbillies!

Beverly Hillbilly? Why do you hate it?
L
Lily
Hillbillies? You know they are two different shows right? The Clampets aren't in this one ;)
I don't love it or hate it. I used to watch the old show back in the day but I wasn't a fan or anything. I can't even remember anything about it actually...

I'm with you on the original one Keano, it was just one of those perfect shows of its time - loving the halloween idea!

I think Hannah was meaning the new version '90210' that The CW have done.

Its so so, not a patch on the first one though.

I am referring to both old and new

Yeah I just realised it after I posted. The new one doesn't hold a patch on the original.

I watched the pilot a few weeks ago for the first time in 15 years and it was the most ridiculous two hours of tv I had ever seen...lol..it was fantastic!

you watched the pilot for the first time when you were 5?!
I'm a fan of the old show (like, scary fan, it was my BtVS back in the day) but I'm adjusting to the style of the new one too, and I'll probably stick with it, and if Tori signs on and my three girls are together again I will probably dissolve in a mess of 90's fan!girl happiness.

I still remember BEGGING my mother to buy me a shapeless dress to wear over my leggings so I'd be as 'cool' as Kelly Taylor, oh the shame.

I didn't grow up with the original. A few months ago I watched a couple of episodes on the CBS website when all the networks decided to post vintage shows on their web players. Let me just say that I have an even bigger appreciation for modern television because shows from the 80s and early 90s are pretty ludicrous. BH90210 was not that enjoyable to watch, yet it was entertaining because it was like watching some kind of time capsule. The hair! The clothes! The music!

Of the two I'd rather watch the 90210, just because I can better relate to it, not to mention not go blind with the hairstyles and clothes and deaf with the music. It's nothing special though, it's nowhere near as good as the first season of "The O.C.", or "Privileged", which comes on after it and is charming and witty, or even "Gossip Girl", which is this generation's BH9.

Ive never seen it. Ive tryed buying them Id probally wouldnt really like it not my kind of show but it has Shannen in.

Are they making a new version? and is Shannen in it?

Yes they do and yes she is.
I've never seen the old one...I was born the year it came out, so it's a bit before my time. I did, however, watch some of the pilot of the new version (not because I had any interest in it whatsoever, since I usually hate those kinds of shows, but because Jessica Walter, aka Lucille Bluth from Arrested Development, was in it...essentially playing an infinitely less entertaining version of Lucille. Go figure.), and I couldn't sit through it. In other words, I hate it. And the girls in it look like twigs with apples stuck on top.

Hannah hun, I'm really sorry to burst your bubble of excitement about Luke Perry returning as Dylan but he is for sure NOT making any appearances on this new 90210: Luke Perry Definitely Not Returning to 90210 . I've read interviews where he's stated that he wouldn't feel right doing it without Aaron Spelling... and honestly I'm inclined to agree. I take major issue with these new show creators and writers taking the old characters and adding to and even re-writing their stories, they should not be able to do that, they are not their characters to mess around with. I mean could you imagine if Joss were to (god forbid) die and some random made a Buffy spinoff and decide to take full liberty in continuing on our beloved characters stories? It would piss me off! Its been fun and all seeing Kelly and Brenda back on screen but there's something off, they don't fully seem like the Kelly and Brenda I used to know. And now they're involving Dylan in this prominent storyline knowing full well they will never get Luke Perry to appear. It's just like, what's the point?! My biggest fear is that they will bring Tori on and decide to write in a divorce from David just because they can't get Brian Austin Green to appear. I would shit bricks! NO WAY IN HELL is up to them to re-write the happy ending Aaron Spelling gave us!

Sorry, I can get a little fired up about this when you get me talking about it :silly:

Anyway, last week's episode was the last episode Shannen Doherty filmed and as of now there are no plans for more Brenda. Jennie's episodes will soon run out too and she isn't contractually obligated for more, she hasn't ruled out the possibility though. If the show doesn't get exponentially better soon, I may just give up on it once they're gone. So far its just not impressing me in the slightest. Silver is as of now the only character I care about. The characters I dislike most are the two main kids and to me thats just not a good sign. Maybe I'm just too much of a diehard fan of the original, I don't know.

So i didn't vote in the poll cause there's not an option that says I love the original only, and no way can i lump the new one in with the original. It was my tv crack back in the day since i was 10, I grew up with it, guess thats probably why i'm so overly critical.

Yeah 5 was a little young but that is what happens when your sister is 6 years older than you:)
The new show (90210) was picked up for a full season.

The writers seem to have a good enough grasp on the charecters and they let Shannen and Jenny have major input on their charecters so they have stayed to imo. But you have to remember that they are grown ups in their early 30s now so ofcourse they would seem a little different. Brenda has grown up and is more mature, she is a successful actress, and doesnt hold grudges. Jennie is the one who wanted Kelly to have a child so they gave her one.

The only charecter so far that they im 50/50 on is Dylan since while it would be in his charecter to not be such a great dad it is also opposite of him due to what he went through.

Never in my life have I watchd this show. There. I said it. Feels good. Well, I'm not so much pop culture gal, and this TV show, like a lot of others that are trendy, never really appealed to me.
